Dice. Gambling. Joe Kelly once allegedly saw Bernie Ecclestone lose a large sum of money gambling in Monte Carlo.

Monte Carlo is the birthplace of Olivier Beretta.

Beretta manufactures firearms. Another driver with the surname of a weapons manufacturer is Timo Glock.

Timo Glock doesn't live in Monte Carlo like most other drivers. He lives in the next most popular country: Switzerland.

Switzerland "hosted" a Grand Prix in 1975 and again in 1982 at Dijon.

Dijon was the site of the only time in world championship history that lap times of under one minute were set - by twelve different drivers in practice - the slowest of whom was Jean-Pierre Jarier.

Jean-Pierre Jarier was supposed to start from pole in the 1975 Argentine Grand Prix, but his Shadow broke down before he could even take the start.

The start is now traditionally signaled by a set of lights, but long ago it was usually done by a man with a flag. If it wasn't the flag of the host nation, the colour of the flag was normally green.

Green, as a colour in which a racing car might be painted, dates back to the Gordon Bennett Cup races of the early 1900s, the British Napier cars most famously running in this colour. For the 1903 edition, they were painted shamrock green, because the race was being held in Ireland.

Ireland was a country that Mike Hawthorn had a great fondness for, and he came every year to spectate at the Leinster Trophy.

The Leinster Trophy, as Irish motorsport fans are constantly reminded every September, was once won by Ayrton Senna, who competed at the time under his other surname, da Silva.

Da Silva Ramos (first name being either Hermano or Hernando) won the Coupe de Vitesse in 1955 at Montlhéry.

Montlhéry hosted the notorious 1926 edition of the Grand Prix de l'ACF, in which only one driver completed the full distance, that driver being Jules Goux.

Jules Goux, according to legend, won the 1913 International 500 Mile Sweepstakes at Indianapolis under the influence of champagne.

Champagne being sprayed on the podium was a tradition supposedly started by Dan Gurney.

Dan Gurney was one of only three drivers to win a Grand Prix in a car built in his name, the others being Jack Brabham and Bruce McLaren.

Bruce McLaren won the Monaco Grand Prix in 1962. Winner of the Formula Junior support race that year was Peter Arundell.

Therefore, everything, as always, circles back to Peter Arundell (and Monte Carlo apparently). QED.

To dr baker: No, it doesn't feature. (19)
