Another big name from 1970s motorsport has left us. Shadow Racing founder Don Nichols, who has reportedly been ill for quite some time, has passed away at the respectable age of 92.
Thanks to him, drivers like Riccardo Patrese, Elio de Angelis, Alan Jones and Tom Pryce got their big breaks in F1, and he's also (indirectly, mind) responsible for the long-lived Arrows team and for getting Graham Hill's promising, if short-lived, team going. And, of course, without him we would never have had these ultra-cool jet-black F1 and Can-Am cars:
RIP Don.

Just happened the other day that I was watching footage of Shadow's only GP win in Austria. RIP Don
