RIP Pacific Grand Prix Website - Update: Resurrection!

Post by AustralianStig »

It appears that after over 20 years of rejectdom, Pacific GP's website has finally died:

Luckily I have everything that was there saved on my hard drive. :geek:

I was wondering if anyone had done that. Good job!

And here is the download link: http://www.mediafire.com/?kjcf9siaqo1lc3u. A whopping 782 KB!

Everything else works except the Photos section, which I think was already down when I downloaded this copy for myself. Originally optimised for Netscape 1.1 and 15" CRT monitors running a 640x480 resolution at best, it still renders perfectly in Firefox 45.0 and a 19" LCD monitor running a 1600x900 resolution.

Of note should be that the link to Netscape's own site still works!

That's terrible news!

However as a consolation, we do still have the HRT and Caterham Twitter accounts:

And it looks like the folks at USF1 haven't still got over their server issues:

Amazing how the site lasted for over 20 years after the team closed down.

Not bad for a team who's 1994 car never lasted a race distance.

I don't know when and why, but the site is back online.

Pacific will never die! My theory is that Zoran Stefanovic must have bought the website.

Is this a sign that Wiggins will resurrect the Pacific team from the dead?

That's a bizarre but pleasant surprise.

Hah, I just noticed the last time the website was updated was the 1st October 1995, the day of the European GP. Looking at the stats Deletraz actually finished the race in 15th SEVEN LAPS DOWN. Man alive, I miss seeing results like that.

I'd actually prefer it if he brought back HVM Racing to IndyCar.

I personally would prefer to see him return to his managing director position at Lola, but that sadly won't happen.

My latest blog on Pacific can be found here; http://www.1994f1.com/blog/

Find out how the Pacific PR01 and the Benetton B194 were separated at birth. The blog includes exclusive insight from Willem Toet, Benetton's Head of Aerodynamics in 1994, and a couple of very rare photos indeed.

An interesting view, that - I'd heard the Pacific PR01 was an old car many times, but that usually referred to it being designed for the 1993 season.
