Webber's 2014 - Don't believe the hype

Post by ADx_Wales »

Hello...
...yes I know, no time to explain.

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/mot ... 6620441226

Do NOT believe that story, it is the ONLY one so far, everything else is just rumour, Radio Le Mans' John Hindhaugh seemed pretty convinced and had the balls to say it over the air to those who were at Silverstone watching the 6 hours, or watching the WEC website live stream. But even when he said it, everything else that I could find on the internet was just rumor, do NOT believe the hype (yet).

It does appear to be the case that Porsche have now issued a formal denial over the "Webber to Endurance Racing" story during the course of the Silverstone 6 Hours event, which should scotch that story for now. I imagine, though, that there are likely to be quite a few stories along these lines in the near future...

I would never believe this. I will believe it when this is confirmed.

Don't those two statements contradict each other? ;)

Has any announcement ever come from confirming a rumour though?

Personally, I imagine that some form of pre-agreement may have been signed, but there are probably clauses should Ferrari or Lotus or whatever turn up at his door later in the year. As such, it can't be announced for a while.

Well that confirms it. Either Webber has signed for Ferrari for 2014 or Alonso has joined RBR for 2014 ;)

Webber did replace Alonso at Minardi so there's a precedent ...

I'm remaining seated for now - Webber and Alonso have been friends for a number of years, so it's hardly surprising to see the two of them together after the last race. There are also quite a few shots of Webber hanging around with Button after races - I think that they've even been seen together on a few training sessions during the off season - yet nobody is claiming that Webber is going to McLaren.

Grosjean spends 2013 as a deadbeat, crashy teammate, Ricciardo's China form is a permanent upturn, and Webber to Lotus!

It would make my day, too. May we see the championship fall to Mr. Consistent Raikonnen. Thinking logically, Raikonnen should already have three titles.

Well, thing are looking up for him this year. Now that Webber is retiring and going to Porsche. So now we can believe the hype, as we will be generating it ourselves! ;)
