TWR Manager: The Strategy Racer
TWR Manager: The Strategy Racer is a team management game where you make the decisions off the track to try and maximise results on the track. Named TWR Manager after the infamous team owner Tom Walkinshaw, it is your task to wheel-and-deal your way to the top, squeezing the most of a limited budget and unpredictable cirumstances to try and win the World Road Car Trophy.
RNG is the name of the game here. Your options will come with a set of minimum and maximum values, and what they'll cost to do. The min/max values will give you a general idea of what may happen, but the RNG can be both kind and harsh, so risks can both be rewarded and also be a swift kick in the nuts to your chances of success.
All I need from you now is your team name and nationality, to confirm how much interest there is in this series. Choosing cars and drivers will come soon after, once there's enough people signed up to make starting the game up worthwhile.

It seems interest is high. Good. We can get started on the first phase of preperation.
Every team has a starting budget of £20,000 for the season. The important thing to remember is that, this budget does not necessarily have to pay for everything all year, you may be able to pick up sponsors throughout the year to pay bills and repairs. This £20,000 is also fixed, regardless of how many cars you may plan to run. However, future sponsors will take into account the size of your organisation, and pay out less to single-car outfits.
The first task however is getting a car, or multiple cars, prepped for the year ahead. The World Road Car Trophy is what it says on the tin - road cars gone racing. This means teams will have to go out and scour the market for used cars - or new ones if you feel that's your best bet. But be wary of a number of things;
You can purchase any amount of real life road going cars as you wish. You could even mix and match if you want, but it's not advised because you'll need to spend more on accuring spare parts. Elements like age, manufacturer, selling price, and so on will make a big difference to the stats of the car. Let me give you an example to explain...
My team for this example is Generic Racing. They have $20,000 in the bank. They decide to run two full-time cars. Their car of choice is a '98 Renault Laguna. These are old, but cheap and readily available.
1998 Renault Laguna
STATS
Speed: 40 - 60
Reliability: 10 - 40
COST
Tier 1 (best care, car in better nick): £1500 each (+10 to minimum reliability, + 5 to maximum speed)
Tier 2 (not bad, not great): £1000 each
Tier 3 (heavily used, lots of wear: £500 each (-10 to minimum reliability, -5 to maximum speed)
Generic Racing purchases four Tier 1 chassis. The stats for each chassis after running the RNG are...
RENLAG98-1 S49/36
RENLAG98-2 S40/37
RENLAG98-3 S65/22
RENLAG98-4 S41/31
So, Generic Racing elects to spend the $2,000 race-ready cost on Chassis RENLAG98-1 and RENLAG98-3, designating chassis 3 to it's #1 entry and chassis 1 to it's #2 entry, as chassis-3 is the fastest of all four. 2 and 4 remain as spares.
As each car is unique in its characteristics after several thousand miles, an RNG is run to determine the condition of each vehicle. There are different RNG min/max depending on the car chosen and the tier of that car. For example, a brand new 2013 Dacia Sandero would have a very high Reliability (95 - 100) but awful speed (0 - 10), and also only be available in Tier 1 for its RRP of £6,000 per car.
If you want to know roughly what each car will cost, head over to autotrader.co.uk to get an indication. Take on board real-life advice points for cars - for example, Alfa Romeo 156s will be deadly quick but really prone to not finishing and being expensive to repair, while a Vauxhall Astra will be slower and have decent reliability, but have super cheap spare parts. It's a really fine balance to acheive the best all-around car.
When I say any car, I pretty much mean any car. We could have an old Holden Commodore facing off against a Volvo 850E, a Lada 1100, a Saab 9000, a Ford Mondeo and a Jaguar XJS V12. Go nuts everyone

- You can run up to three cars at a single race meeting. Only the highest place two cars will score points for the teams' championship though.
- Cars can be bought and sold between active teams in the championship. Cars can be sold off externally straight away for a fee of 50% of the original purchase price. Written off chassis can be traded for a discount on making a new chassis race-ready only.
- It's a good idea to buy more chassis than you need upfront, in case you suffer a write-off between a double header and need another car at the next track in a hurry.
Parts can be salvaged from old writen-off chassis to reduce the £2,000 race prep fee though - If you blow your budget all at once, and the car needs a big fix or is totally written off and a new chassis is needed, and you can't afford it, then, quite simply, you're up the **** creek without a paddle. You'll have to keep missing races until you can somehow come up with the finance to buy a new one. You can always switch cars mid-season to cheaper ride if you want...
- Upgrades through the season will be possible at the end of every round...assuming you have time to pull it off!
- Mid-season testing will also be an option, its use will be to train drivers to improve in certain areas, but, as with anything, this can also have negative consequences as well as positive ones.

Actually...nope.
New rule. The car must have a roof. At least a partial one - pick-ups are still allowed, if anyone dare try to race them. Don't think anyone else has tried to enter one so it doesn't affect anyone else.

Unfortunately, you scour many a used car dealership, and fail to find a single 460. However, Bob down at the scrappies has eight Volvo 460s in nick so bad it wouldn't have a chance in hell of passing an MOT. Also, in your search for these 460s, you stumbled across a garage that specialises in parts for old Volvos, and for either 1500 quid, or 750 quid if you cut a few corners, the knackered chassis Bob has in his yard can be made roadworthy again. However, the garage only has enough parts at the moment to repair two cars to Tier 1 standard, but a healthy supply of parts to achieve Tier 2 level. They do get stock in from abroad now an again, so there's a chance if you wait until later in the year to do up one of the buggered 460 chassis, they'll have more parts to fix it up to Tier 1 standard.
So, what quanitity of each would you like? Or would you like to change car?

That depends. What Commodore model you after? The VT SS or VT II? The SS will cost significantly more but also be significantly faster...you could always mix and match them too.

Hmm... does our budget stretch for two VT SS-spec (Both tier 1) and three VT II-spec (One from each tier) cars? And can we get any 97 or 98 VTs at a similar quality for a lower price?
EDIT: Thought that having two tier 1 VT SS machines to work with would have made more sense, assuming we actually have the money to do it.
