It's obvious that Sutil's last-lap retirement today was to boost his standings in this championship!!!

It sure was! Since the season is getting closer to the end, I'll try to calculate the ones with a chance to win the title during this week.

A bit of a strange one - Webber started the last lap, so Vettel could not lap him, he actually finished last of those on the lead lap, surely?

But he didn't complete the last lap, meaning he did one fewer lap, putting him a lap down.

Yes, that is true of course, and the lap charts show he only completed 60/61 laps, but my point was that Vettel did not physically lap him. It's all down to interpretation ...

Anyway it keeps the championship a bit closer this way, so no bad thing!

Yeah, it works like that. 1st-placed car in this championship is the 1st car that is 1 or more laps down, regardless of how.

And an update regarding the championship. Like I said earlier, I calculated the ones with a mathematical chance of winning, and currently every driver and constructor has a chance. Realistically, the drivers' championship is between the top-4, maybe Gutierrez and the constructors' is between Caterham and Marussia.

Round 14: South Korea

Okay, looking through some older results, it seems that I had said that I won't award points if the driver retired on the last lap. But I have since then done that. Twice. So, a clarification on drivers eligible of scoring points. 1st-placed car in this championship is the 1st car that is 1 or more laps down, regardless of how. However, should there be no drivers who actually finished the race, no points will be given.

EXAMPLE 1: WEB and MAL collide on the last lap and retire, no other driver is a lap down --> no points
EXAMPLE 2: WEB and MAL collide on the last lap and retire, VDG finishes 3 laps down --> points are scored

So, since no driver finished the race one or more laps down, no points will be given.

Pic can win the title without winning a race. Chilton can't as he needs win in Brazil to take the title.
