It's a great shame that there wasn't a points reward for a good drive by Thomas, but it's a proud day, as we have finally achieved our dream of having Schröder enter an Autoreject 3.5 race.

OOC thoughts:

What was Parn doing, stopping on the track like that? Though Massini is an idiot for binning it in the pit-lane entrance.

Glad that Glotch escaped that without injury.

Parn too - these cars like stopping upside down!

Not sure that Ardaoglu deserves his penalty, Butler double shunted him in the bottom.

Whereas Ardaoglu suddenly slammed on his brakes on the main straight for no apparent reason, which caused Butler to smash into him.

The first round of the AR3.5 Middle Eastern Cup didn't go as well as we had planned. We had some small issues with the car and some of our team members' hotel rooms were entered Saturday and their belongings were rummaged. Nothing seems to be missing, but the local Police was informed of the incident.

Despite these events, Urmas Pärn showed that the car, and more important, he, is very fast, despite qualifying only 14th. The reason for that was the incredible amount of talent that is present in this series, as shown by the fact that 20 out of 22 drivers qualified within 0.739 seconds of the pole. In the race Urmas made some mistakes due to both nervousness and over-eagerness. Therefore we, the whole team, would like to apologise to mister Martin van der Mayede and to Plus One Racing Engineering for the accident on lap 7.

I think today's events have made it perfectly clear that Urmas Parn is severely out of his depth in AR 3.5 and is a menace to his own safety and the safety of others. Series officials should be doing more to prevent drivers of poor calibre stepping into a car! Look at that muppet Al-Dizi for instance, he was 3 seconds down in an identical car! This kind of lax standards got a man killed in Rejects of LFS, and I speak for all of us when I say that I wish we do not encounter a repeat event.

Voeckler pursuing Kuzmanovic on multi-year deal

It seems Voeckler Talent Troupe are still looking to add names to their development programme, and top of their shopping list is Montenegran driver Darko Kuzmanovic.

Kuzmanovic is currently contracted to Euromotor International for the 2017 AR3.5 season, and has shown a decent turn of speed so far in the pre-season Middle East Cup. Voeckler are looking to include Kuzmanovic in their programme, but leaving him placed at Euromotor for the 2017 season. However, they may look to take him in house to their own outfit for 2018.

Voeckler in their former guise took the 2015 title with current Voeckler development driver Marcel Agyemang-Badu, and came runner up in 2016 with Salvatore Miccoli, so have a good record of success with young drivers in IFRC/AR3.5.

Jones disappointed with Jantscher

Sammy Jones has expressed his disappointment in new signing Marko Jantscher's form in the AR3.5 Middle Eastern Cup. The Austrian has shown good pace in the Jones car throughout the series but has yet to finish a race, having crashed out of a comfortable lead towards the end of the second race of the series in Abu Dhabi. A crash in the early stages of the first race, in Dubai, and an engine failure in Qatar, has meant Jantscher has just 4 points to his name, collected from his pole and fastest lap in Abu Dhabi. Sammy gave this quote to reporters after the Qatar race:

"Obviously I'm disappointed, of course I am. The kid is clearly quick and we know how to engineer the car and get the most out of it. The problem is he keeps throwing it away and if he wants to succeed in motorsport then he needs to learn fast that that sort of form is unacceptable in the long term. He's not a rookie anymore, he can drive the car, so I just want to see him cool his socks and get the car to the finish and give the team a good result."

Prince Falik delighted with Kenan Ardaoglu and car

Prince Falik expressed his delight with Kenan Ardaoglus two wins on the trot, stating "Kenan Ardaoglu was underated and I am glad I picked him up for a race, the car looks fantastic and I believe that we shall win the constructors championship in 2017 and he should win the off season cup with one more good result. However with Kenan and Rosco [Vantini] I have two of the most talented drivers in the series and we may have a team battle.". Regarding Ardaoglus crash and penalty at the first race, Falik added "It was disappointing, we and Ardaoglus manager repeated what Kenan said and that he braked as the car had a system failure and he wanted to make sure he could stop before the corner as that would have been worse.". When asked his opinion on his ex F2RWRS and F3RWRS drivers, Marko Jantscher and Victoria Desai he was more philosophical, "Marko was lured by the Jones team and I couldn't offer him the same thing, Jones has an F1RWRS team and I have a small stake in Arrowtech so I can see why he left. Although in the few years we have been around we have had some success and I am hoping this year is when we come good. I am looking at increasing my presence in F1RWRS and will try to purchase either Arrowtech, Boxtel or Kamaha. Victoria was a disappointment, I was preparing a contract for her in the F2RWRS team but her management told me she is leaving and going to AR3.5, still I wish them both luck and hope they don't finish behind my drivers too much." and with that Prince Falik gave a small chuckle and took his leave.

Voeckler wishes to do a deal on the following terms;

Kuzmanovic will stay where he is in 2017. Voeckler will have the option to deploy Kuz as a temporary replacement in F2RWRS if said replacement drive does not clash with his AR3.5 duties. If Kuzmanovic finishes in the Top 10 of the championship this season, Voeckler GPE will have the option of transferring him either to Voeckler's 3.5 team or F2RWRS team for 2018. If Voeckler GPE elects to take up this option, Euromotor will be compensated with the services of another Voeckler driver (given our track record so far of Badu + Miccoli, this driver is likely to be rather good). If this option is not taken up, he will continue at Euromotor. If Kuzmanovic fails to place Top 10 in the championship by the end of 2018, he will leave the Voeckler programme.
