2014-15 CIFM World Championship By PMMF (Signup)

Post by Reverie Planetarian »

Magical warriors. Cute witches. Princesses tested to become queens of magic lands.

Have you ever wondered what magical girls do when they've got time to burn and aren't saving the world, becoming magical queens or finishing their witch apprenticeship or anything like that? Sure, some bake, or sing, or do other cute things, but others are cut from a different cloth. Others have passions that involve seeking a more raw kind of thrill-like a passion for speed.

With this desire in mind, some of the richest amongst them pooled their resources to form a special club: the CIFM or Concilio Internazionale di Formula Magica, devoted to formule libre for the magically-enhanced. As part of a membership drive, they've made preparations to begin their first ever CIFM World Championship. Flying magic open-wheel single-seaters called aura surfers, there's only one way to see who the master of the art is-beating all comers to become champion.

***

So, yes, this is my stab at creating a version of Klon's short-lived Superhuman Speedway Series, using xkoranate and my neverending love for magical girls. To explain, I'll be scoring things in xkoranate, and then modifying the results to account for the entrants' powers and strategies.

It is also very much a work in progress, so please bear with me as I try developing this.

I'll be doing things slightly differently though. You will only be able to create one entrant per, well, entry, so you'll have to choose between different types of strategies if you want to get ahead.

If you want to enter, I'll ask you to fill out the following:

Driver Name:
Driver Nationality:
Power: Make up some kind of power you think is appropriate. I ask that you use something you know you can make an attack, defense and enhancement ability out of.
Driver Style: Pick one of the following:
-Adept: Your driver is powerful magically, but not the best driver or technical talent. From their limited input, you get 11 points to distribute amongst your car stats-Acceleration, Handling and Reliability.
Your powers are particularly strong: your offensive power can knock a point of Reilability off three opponents or three points off a single one, your defensive power can protect you from up to three opponents' attacks, and your enhancement power can improve your pace by 3%.
-Balanced: Your driver is fairly well-balanced and knows their way around a car. You get a total of 14 points to distribute amongst your car stats.
Your powers aren't bad, but they aren't as good either: your offensive power can damage a single target's Reliability by 2 points or two targets' by 1, your defensive power can protect you from up to two opponents' attacks, and your enhancement power can improve your pace by 2%.
-Ace: Your driver spends way more time refining their driving skills than their magic. You get a total of 17 points to distribute amongst your car stats.
Your powers are the weakest of the bunch: your offensive power can slow down a single target's Reliability by only 1 point, your defensive power only protects you from one opponent's attack, and your enhancement power only improves your pace by 1%.
Offensive Power: Describe your offensive power. Slows down targeted racers.
Defensive Power: Describe your defensive power. Protects you from up to a certain amount of Reliability points damage, depending on your style.
Enhancement Power: Describe your enhancement power. Increases your pace for a race.
Driver History: Backstory. Appreciated, but not required.

Surfer Performance: Distribute your aura surfer stat points amongst the following. Due to xkoranate's stat system, these should be 1 at their lowest or 10 at their highest.
Acceleration:
Handling:
Reliability:
Surfer History: Interesting stuff about the machine. Also appreciated, but also not required. Bear in mind they're flying machines about as big as an F1 car or LMP racer, if you don't take, say, wings into account.

Because I'm unsure of how many people will bite, and because I'm experimenting here, I'll accept either the first 12 entries, or however many entrants I get before October 11.

Racing

The racing works like this: I'll simulate a race in xkoranate in two parts: a qualifying sprint where only enhancement powers are allowed, then a full-length race where attack, defense and enhancement are. After seeing the qualifying results, I'll let you pick only one power to use for that race, and if you want to attack, who you would like to attack. I'll simulate the results, modify them to reflect the powers used, and then post the finishing positions and any "highlights" I think might be creative enough to create by myself or with the players.

Scoring will follow a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 format.

Some say he plans to put an S921 on the Goodwood 2012 run, and that he DOES know what Deletraz is doing.
All we know is...he's called Perry McCarthy!

...we'll never see an S921 at Goodwood, will we?

Oh, he's a USER!

I thought I was getting slammed really hard...this has been the most often I've been on the forum to be honest and I haven't connected with that many people. That flew right over my head.

Driver Name: Henrietta Wise
Driver Nationality: British
Power: Ice Creation and Manipulation
Driver Style: Adept
Offensive Power: Ice Age - temperature of and inside the targeted vehicle sinks massively, causing technical and concentration issues.
Defensive Power: Cold Rejection - a temporary shield of ice prevents the vehicle from damage
Enhancement Power: Engine Freeze - covers the engine of the vehicle with a thin layer of ice, reducing the risk of overheating.
Driver History: A jaded woman who has seen a lot of dark stuff in her time. Tried a normal life after purging the latest evil threatening the United Kingdom, but that did not work out, leaving her to do what she has always done - fight (and race) with magic.

Surfer Performance:
Acceleration: 4
Handling: 5
Reliability: 2
Surfer History: A cheap model with miserable cooling, this type has reasonable pace but in the end will draw a lot of comparison to the very first BAR.

Defensive Power: Force Field - Shields the aura surfer using an intense field of light energy surrounding it.
Enhancement Power: Light Speed - Uses high-energy light waves to give the aura surfer a significant boost in straight-line speed.
Driver History: Has always been passionate about racing, and spends most of her time practicing her driving and magic. Willing to win at all costs.

Surfer Performance:
Acceleration: 4
Handling: 4
Reliability: 6
Surfer History: Designed around the chassis of the Audi R10 TDI which won three 24 Hours of Le Mans, this car is designed to do three things - get to the finish, win, and look good doing it.

Driver name: Ruri Sawaki
Driver nationality: Japan
Power: Magnetism
Driver Style: Balance
Offense: Repellent Shockwave - The magnetism power is used to either repel opponents out of her way.
Defense: Magnetic Forcefield - Like Watt's, but with the power magnetism instead of light energy.
Enhancement: E.M. Charge - Uses electromagnetism as a backup energy for the surfer.
Backstory: Sawaki was a normal girl with life around her... then she was granted a mysterious power of magnetism, which amazed her friends. Thinks herself as a rookie.I think I have made a "nicer" (personality wise) version of Magneto...

Performance:
Acceleration: 5
Handling: 3
Reliability: 6
History: Her surfer is "Ver. C" model after the Ver. A and Ver. B prototypes suffer from various issues. The surfer is designed in a look of tribute of the Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ.

Three entrants, and I come back two days late...this was a bust.

Anybody who signed up still want to help me develop this thing? I originally got the idea for this from wanting to run a fantasy league on another forum I frequent, I'd still like playtesters, and I'd rather not leave those few who volunteered high and dry. I'll run some events for testing purposes even if this isn't a full league.

If you guys are interested of course.
