And it's only expected to get worse. Somehow, I don't think the race could take place now, much less this afternoon.

According to Adam Cooper - "Can confirm that yesterday the FIA offered the organizers the opportunity to start the race as early as 11am"

"The organisers, ie Honda, did not want to move, even by an hour. Officially it is their choice, not the FIA's, not Bernie's"

Going by the weather conditions at 11:00am, it wouldn't have mattered - the rain is too heavy.

Too bad we could have had the race on Monday or even Saturday but that's how it is. So it will be cancelled if it pisses down like it is now then Abu Dhabi is more important than ever.

Monday is not possible - the teams have to be in Sochi on Wednesday.

Saturday was not possible, either. Typhoon Phanfone was only really an aggressive low pressure system until Thursday, when it developed into a category-four storm. Even then, nobody was certain what it was going to do until yesterday morning. Rescheduling would have required moving everything around to allow time for free practice and qualifying, which just wasn't possible with a day's notice. And that's just figuring out the race - it doesn't address the problems of informing spectators, repurposing satellites or rescheduling broadcasts for networks

The weather conditions look fine. Just a bit of drizzle.
Edit: where else would you find gazebos in nearly the right colour for the teams on the grid instead of grid girls?

I hope we get some sort of racing at Suzuka. About time we had a proper wet race again!

Racing and rain do not mix unless you throw a safety car in between.

as much as I want to see a race I have a very horrible feeling that we won't see a race today. I think we will see 10 laps and then will be called off- pity.

I don't understand why they didn't move the race to earlier in the day. It just seems idiotic when everyone was saying yesterday this was going to happen.

(Plus I could have watched it at home then! ;) )

What? That's crap, there was no overtaking in this race aside from those brilliant moves on Ericsson.

Yeah but there was still some really close racing throughout the field. Barely a few car lengths separated most of the drivers.

Yeah, and for once we get a great, close-fought race between Rosberg and Hamilton. And Rosberg won! :D
