Qualifiying - France
Alain Prost took pole position at his home race, to end Gerhard Bergers run of poles. Jean Alesi will line up second in an all French front row, just eight hundredths behind Prost. Gerhard Berger took third for Benetton with Johnny Herbert fourth in the second Ferrari. Thierry Boutsen was the lead Williams in fifth and Ayrton Senna will start sixth in his Arrows. At the back, Emerson Fittipaldi failed to qualify his Life and Allan McNish failed to qualify his EuroBrun, meaning Life will have a car on the grid for the first time this year with Naninni.

Life shall not rest on its very recently established laurels though - we'll go testing for some more grip.
Also, some more possible driver changes!
The Auriol experiment has not worked. So the new plan is as follows;
Coloni offers a 4M salary for Senna to do the rest of the season. 1.5M will be paid in compensation to Jordan for breaking his contract with them. Emerson Fittipaldi and Michele Alboreto shall swap teams. Gianni Morbidelli shall be reinstated at Life, albeit in the test driver position. Pay him whatever the feck he asks for.

Ferrari would like to send their congratulations to Life for finishing their first race.
Anyway, large power please for Ferrari.
I will post upgrade plans sometime tomorrow.

This deal is accepted. Arrows Grand Prix expect the $5 million severance payment to appear in their bank account shortly, with the other $5 million to be paid at the beginning of the 1992 Season. Ayrton Senna will be released from his Arrows contract and will join Life for the remainder of the 1991 Season.
As a result of this, Arrows Grand Prix would like to make offers to the following drivers to join them in the Driver 1 position (car #26) for the remainder of the 1991 Season (in order of preference):
1. Michele Alboreto ($4M)
2. Alessandro Nannini ($3.5M)
3. Karl Wendlinger ($3.5M) - a severance payment will be made to Jordan (amount to be determined)
4. Derek Warwick ($3M)
Further to this, Arrows Grand Prix wish to undertake the following upgrades at the next possible opportunity:
1. Large Power Upgrade ($1M)
2. Large Grip Upgrade ($1M)

As for the money, that wasn't the deal. I said you get 5 million in 1992. I didn't specify at what point in 1992 it would appear

Balls. Well how about this:
You pay a $5M severance payment to me for Senna to join Life.
You give me Alboreto and I pay him $4M salary to complete 1991 at Arrows.
You only pay me $1M in 1992 at a time of your choosing rather than $5M. This effectively is the $4M.

Actually, I think I've changed my mind. Alboreto's contract is no longer for sale. Neither Nannini's.

That means Senna is staying at Arrows then?

Me too. He had already agreed to release Senna on the condition of money, and then decided because he can't have Alboreto or Nannini the deal is off.
But ok, it's his loss, Senna won't earn his team £10 million

van de Poele, you useless turd... If you want to keep being our test driver next year you'll have to do much better than this.
Re: 1991 Virtual F1 - RedEyes504 (France test Up)

Qualifiying - Great Britain
Jean Alesi took pole by less than a tenth of a second from fellow Frenchman Alain Prost, with home favorite Nigel Mansell taking third for Dallara. Mika Hakkinen will start fourth in the second McLaren. The third row of the grid will consist of Ayrton Senna in the Arrows and Nelson Piquet in the first of the Williams. At the back, Perry McCarthy once again failed to qualify his Ligier, he will be joined on the sidelines by Erik Comas, who spent the whole of qualifying in the pits with reliabillity problems for his Benetton.
