Raw Pace - 4.0
Meh.

Strategic Ability - 6.0
Must have been doing something right to outscore team-mate and former GP winner Panis...

Personal Reliability - 7.0
Only remember him crashing once or twice all season...less than average for a rookie.

Entertainment Value - 1.0
Christiano daWho?

Personal Sympathy - 8.0
Most of this score is because of events outside of Formula One...he joined the Toyota snoozefest for a year then went back to ChampCar where he was actually a good driver - so having your career ended by a deer trying to kill you during a test must be a sucky way to bow out of motorsport.

Hmmm? Who's next? Ah ... we'll skip that, he only participated in 5 races anyhow. So the next one is:

*** OLIVIER PANIS ***

Raw Pace - 7.0
He is actually a good qualifier especially one-lap qualifying seemed to suit him a lot

Strategic Ability - 7.5
Made his strategy work, blunders in this regard were rare...

Personal Reliability - 9.0
Mika Häkkinen thought of him of being one of the best testers in Formula 1 back in 2000, and he was and is definitely right

Entertainment Value - 6.5
His battle in Monaco in 1996 was of course awesome, but in the end, he had passion but was not the man who drew you in

Personal Sympathy - 8.5
Again, Monaco 96 does the trick ... but one has to consider the bad luck behind the man and his accident in Canada the year afterwards

OLIVIER PANIS

Raw Pace - 7.0
He never set the world alight but he never looked out of his depth in F1

Strategic Ability - 8.5
A strong driver in changeable conditions, Panis was good at timing his pit stops to perfection.

Personal Reliability - 8.5
Always good here but especially in his later years the guy could be trusted to bring the car home and in a decent position.

Entertainment Value - 7.0
He has more character than most in F1. Sadly that doesn't say too much either and he wasn't perticularly exiting.

Personal Sympathy - 8.5
Canada '97 ruined his best year. He then chose the McLaren test over a Williams seat (What could have happened there?) in the hope of getting a good drive. That drive never came and he ended up at BAR back when they were still a shoddy outfit. Panis really knew how to pick his drives didnt he ......

Raw Pace - 6.5
Poor qualifier to begin with but great racer and even improved his qualifying when one-lap runs were introduced. But how much of that was due to Toyota running him on fumes in another one of their wacky strategies.

Strategic Ability - 7.5
A strong driver in changeable conditions, Panis was good at timing his pit stops to perfection most notably at Monaco 1996 which helped him leapfrog the mid-field drivers and put him in the lead once Alesi retired. His Toyota years drag his score down of course as he was often seen plumeting during pitstops thanks to random strategies.

Personal Reliability - 8.5
Very safe pair of hands which has allowed him to inherite some great results when others have fallen off the track. Kind of a 90s Heidfeld.

Entertainment Value - 5.0
Never particurly entertaining really.

Personal Sympathy - 7.5
Broke his legs during his peak year and wasn't really the same since. He only ever drove for midfield teams, one wonders what he could have done in a front running team.

Which drivers are we doing after the 2004 lot?

Here's your fifth.
Olivier Panis
Raw Pace - 7.0 (He could have been a WDC contenter if it weren't for Canada 1997, he was never as fast after that )
Strategic Ability - 7.0 (His only win was helped by his strategy to leapfrog DC as well as the high attrition)
Personal Reliability - 7.5 (Solid if unspectacular)
Entertaining Value - 6.0 (This high simply because of one line on Top Gear: "What is this shitbox?! What is this car?!?! A Morris...!!")
Personal Sympathy - 8.0 (Canada 1997 makes me feel sorry for him, his talent beforehand suggested he'd score at least another win, quite possibly in 1997)

Thank you. By the way: I have decided two options after the 2004 drivers; either we will do a Champions' special, going through all World driver's champions from 2009 in reversed order, or we will do a "Best Of Rejects" where we'll take a look at the most famous rejects. The choice ... is yours!

Now this one will catch interest again:

*** NICK HEIDFELD ***

Raw Pace - 6.0
Made him suffer in 2008 and even before he had some good qualifying effort, but nothing else though.

Strategic Ability - 8.0
He makes his strategy work, if you don't know where he came from in a race point finish, then it's because of this.

Personal Reliability - 9.5
Well, there is a reason he has the record for most consecutive race finishes, and that is not only his car.

Entertainment Value - 4.0
Hmm - not really, Nick.

Personal Sympathy - 8.0
I think his F1 fate as of now is a bit unjustified, especially if you look at ... some ... of the seats in the main teams

Raw pace: 5.5

He's rarely better than his car.

Strategic ability: 9.0

He almost always executes what is put before him.

Personal reliability: 10.0

He doesn't retire. Ever.

Entertainment value: 2.0

I'd rather watch flies in a trashcan.

Personal sympathy: 7.5

Man, he got screwed by McLaren.

*** NICK HEIDFELD ***

Raw Pace - 6.0
Not generally fast enough to be great, but still not that bad.

Strategic Ability - 8.0
He is pretty good with strategy overall.

Personal Reliability - 9.5
Doesn't DNF that often

Entertainment Value - 2.0
Too bland for me.

Personal Sympathy - 8.0
He's not given enough credit then he should be getting. He's a good driver, who's probably the unluckiest driver to not win F1 races.

YEY WERE BACK!!

NICK HEIDFELD

Raw Pace - 6.5
Quick on his day. His day doesn't come around too often though.

Strategic Ability - 8.5
One of the better strategic drivers in F1. He tends to demolish his teammates in this category.

Personal Reliability - 9.5
Why did a new team not sign him? He is ultra reliable.

Entertainment Value - 4.0
Sadly not his strong point. I like the guy's attitude but he isnt a lot of fun on the track.

Personal Sympathy - 8.5
Been a bit unlucky with the teams he has been with during his career. This season takes the biscuit though as he really deserves much more than being the Mercades no 3.

Raw Pace - 5.0 (Only extracts 99.5% from the car...and just 0.1% more can make all the difference)
Strategic Ability - 6.5 (Not exactly a tactical genius)
Personal Reliability - 9.0 (Usually solid as a rock)
Entertainment Value - 0 (ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ)
Personal Sympathy - 0 (Needs a cup of cheer the f**k up)

Quick Nick Heidfeld

Raw Pace - 7.0 - A quick driver, his name suggests that but never shown blinding pace.

Strategic Ability - 8.0 - Good strategic thinker and could often use it to his advantage.

Personal Reliability - 10.0 - Has the most consecutive finishes in a row for a reason. 2 DNF's since Japan 07' neither of them his fault. Very reliable.

Entertainment Value - 6.0 - I like the guy a lot, the only particularly entertaining thing he did was his season long battle with Webber in 2005.

Personal Sympathy - 9.0 - Deserved a top race seat for 2010, Merc test role could pay off if Schumi continues with neck troubles. I have sympathised with the fact that he still hasn't won a race.

Quick Nick Heidfeld:

Raw Pace: 7.5: Not the fastest out there but he's pretty damn quick

Strategic Ability: 8: He's pretty good in this regard and many a points finish has been given to him by this

Personal Reliability: 10: No retirements since 2007 which were his doing shows just how reliable he is

Entertainment Value: 4: I can't remember him doing anything much of note other than that move down the inside of Alonso in Bahrain 07 (Which along with Sato's move on Alonso in Canada lost Alonso the championship regardless of whether he crashed in Japan or not)

Personal Sympathy: 8.5: Deserved the McLaren seat in 2002 and deserved the Mercedes seat in 2010. Nuff said

Completely disagree. Some good performances in the crapbox Jordan in 2004, and did very well in an average Williams in 2005.

Raw pace-6.5 - would be higher if he hadn't struggled in shootout style qualifying, and failure to beat Kubica at Canada '07
Strategic ability-8.5 - in the points de regular usually based on strategy rather than pace
Personal reliability-10.0 - as above, very very rarely retired
Entertainment value-5.0 - based on the crashes he had in the Sauber (safety car, and Sato in Austria), and his wild Prost days
Personal simpathy-7.5 - he should have snuck a win somewhere in the same way that Trulli and Kovalainen have, should also have got the McLaren drive but I'm not convinced he would have won a WDC there.
Watka - you know, the swimming horses guy

Raw Pace - 6.5
Acceptable qualifyer but nothing putting him into the top class in this skill

Strategic Ability - 6.5
Again, true average but won't support his own, even if risky, strategy - Hungaroring 2008 is the keyword.

Personal Reliability - 7.5
While he doesn't throw around his car like certain other drivers, it is doubtable he is a team leader, the Virgin will have to judge him

Entertainment Value - 7.0
One of the more charismatic German drivers with a nice sense of humour.

Personal Sympathy - 8.0
I like him and especially his debut point with Jordan along with the switch to Virgin turned him to my side

TIMO GLOCK

Raw Pace - 6.5
The guy can't qualify. His speed is good in races though.

Strategic Ability - 7.0
Better than most here but nothing special. Seems to take risks that you can't afford to take if you're expected to be at the front at each race.

Personal Reliability - 7.5
Prone to the odd lapse in concentration (Suzuka '09) but generally trustworthy behind the wheel of an F1 car.

Entertainment Value - 7.0
A nice guy with a decent driving style. Better than most on the field these days.

Personal Sympathy - 8.5
One of my favourite drivers, though I'm not quite sure why. I feel sorry for him that he has had to take a step backward this year but then it's worked out better for him than Heidfeld.

Raw Pace - 7
I think his pace seems to be better than the other drivers of his generation.

Strategic Ability - 6
He doesn't seem to take much risk, but he makes it up with speed.

Personal Reliability - 7
As I mentioned before, his driving style is not very risky, so apart from a few mistakes he seems to be a reliable driver.

Entertainment Value - 7,5
He does a great job, no matter what team he's driving for.

Personal Sympathy - 5
I respect him as a driver, but he never/barely had some impressive results so for me he's neutral.

It is time to face our destiny as mortal humans and rate rationally what cannot be understood in its concept by the human mind:

*** HWNSNBM ***

Raw Pace - 4.0
Not as rejectful as it seemed in qualifying, managed to get quite competitive at the end of '04.

Strategic Ability - 4.0
Well, as good as your strategy can get in a Minardi...

Personal Reliability - 7.0
He spun out a few times, but seeing as he usually brought his car home in one piece and had some sponsorship back in his days, he still was valueable for a lower team

Entertainment Value - 8.5
Aside from the obvious, he was a nice person and made a heartwarming success for Minardi in the USA.

Personal Sympathy - 10.0
Our saviour! ;)

Oh boy...

Raw Pace - 7
I think he was "pushing like a hell", at least from his point of view. From my point of view, his speed was decent... as for Minardi and the engine that was purposed to selfdestruct during every race.

Strategic Ability - 2
Did Minardi have any sensible strategy?
...
And so he did.

Personal Reliability - 8
He was one of the few drivers to score some points (actually one point) for Minardi. Long live HWNSNBM!

Entertainment Value - 9
His determination and will to fight were much stronger than his car. The best of all rejects.

Personal Sympathy - 10
The fastest Hungarian :D

The almighty HWNSNBM

Raw Pace 5.0 - Never did anything notable.
Strategic Ability 5.0 - Once again, nothing notable.
Personal Reliability 7.5 - Usually bought the car home, especially in USA 04.
Entertainment Value 10.0 - Drove for Jordan and Minardi, nuff said.
Personal Sympathy 10.0 - Do I need to explain why?
I like the way Snrub thinks!

Up to this point I have been completely objective when it comes to this thread. I will continue this now, HWNSNBM fanboys look away now!

Zsolt Baumgartner

Raw Pace - 4.5
Didnt cover himself in glory but not many drivers can in a Minardi. He at least looked competant alongside Bruni.

Strategic Ability - 4.0
What everyone else has said, you can't really be a strategic driver in a Minardi other than "Bring the car home".

Personal Reliability - 7.5
Gets points here for his Indy performance. He quite frequently propped up the rest of the grid in race results but that also means he didn't retire too often.

Entertainment Value - 5.0
His basic English skills hampered him outside of the car. The car he drove hampered him when he was in it.

Personal Sympathy - 8.0
Can't say I was ever too bothered about him until the F1 Rejects interview with him. He seemed so desperate to get racing again in any category and it is a shame that he never got a chance in a good car/series combination.

I'll make the recension about Zsolt Baumgartner, the mortal iteration of HWNSNBM...
Raw pace-4.0 (not that the Minardi helped a lot...)
Strategic ability-5.0
Personal reliability-7.0 (the Minardi played a bit against him, but he is still a decent car-keeper)
Entertaining value-3.0
Personal simpathy-5.0 (I didn't care about the guy that much)

I think he really deserved a second chance in F1, as his performance was not all that shabby, and when he had the opportunity to score a point at the US GP, he made the most of it. Sadly, probably the fact he was Hungarian and had to bring money to a team that was badly needing it anyway played against him.

Okay, we still have three drivers left, but I'm getting sick of 2004. Let's start the REJECT SPECIAL! I will chose 15 random rejects to rate - the only condition will be at least 10 attempts to start a GP. Forza!:

*** LUCA BADOER ***

Raw Pace - 7.0
Actually quite well in low-fuel runs, showed some very good qualifying performances

Strategic Ability - 3.5
And this is where it actually breaks apart...

Personal Reliability - 9.0
Just like Gené, Wurz or any other infamous long-time-tester - you can't be like that if you don't have any reliability

Entertainment Value - 5.5
Normally pretty average on this, but him taking on the unwinnable battle with the press was nice

Personal Sympathy - 10.0
I pretty much supported him through his full Ferrari 2009 stint and was furious at how the testing ban and Ferrari screwed him over.

Raw Pace - 6.0 - Reasonably fast, but nothing special in this department I'm afraid.
Strategic Ability - 5.0 - Once again, nothing special.
Personal Reliability - 7.5 - Fairly reliable, not reckless at all.
Entertainment Value - 7.0 - Quite entertaining but there have been more entertaining drivers.
Personal Sympathy - 11.0 - Anyone who doesn't put at least a 9 for this one should be shot. How can anyone not feel sorry for him?

Raw pace - 6.5 - He was very fast in his first few years in F1, but unlucky with the seats he got.
Strategic - 5.0 - Nothing to speak about here
Personal reliability - 7.
Entertainment - 6.5 - Appart from the 2009 fiasco, nothing special.
Personal sympathy - 9 - Inmortal test driver, drove a Minardi near to 4th at Nurburgring!!! The less rejectful of the reject drivers I would say.
Tread lightly in ARWS. Every decision might be your last.

Luca Badoer--

Raw pace-- 5.5: He flattered the Forti and Minardi, but was beyond washed up in the Ferrari.
Strategy-- 3.0: He never did anything with his strategy.
Personal reliability-- 8.0: You don't test drive for Ferrari forever without not ever binning cars.
Entertainment-- 6.0: Minardi and Forti bonus points here
Personal sympathy-- 10.0: Nurburgring 1999 was the most disappointing race ever.
