So the new challenge...

Jamie and Enoch, during the good old days of the F1 Rejects podcast (may it rest in peace!), used to advocate the idea of a Vanuatu Grand Prix, after one of them (I forget which!) visited the islands. You task, should you choose to accept it, is to design a track there. It may be purpose built or a street track, it's up to you. Just keep it to between 4.5 and 6.5 kms long.

This is pretty bonkers - let's have a race around one of the most active volcanoes in the pacific! I've actually climbed this volcano, something I'll never forget.

Definitely not one of my better track designs, but I couldn't resist the idea.

Wow, okay... luckily I have a challenge in mind.

A Triangular Circuit for the Modern Age
You know Pescara and the old Reims. But we don't have anything like that anymore. Spa is kind of like Pescara, but so are Shanghai, Korea, and any other track with that design philosophy. So your challenge is, broadly, to make a circuit with the same feel as a big triangular circuit, but safe.

*Only use roads that already exist. Decently wide roads are better than typical narrow ones.
*The more triangular the overall shape of your circuit is, the better. Try not to make it too skinny, too isosceles if you will.
*No acceleration zone can be longer than 5.5 km. Apart from that, make all your straights however long you want.
*If you don't have space for the paddock, runoff for high-speed corners, or escape roads for long straights, I'll get mad at you.
*The corners will be judged as if they're being driven with modern F1 cars, not 1950s ones.

Well, yes, it's a fact that pretty much every road here that isn't a dual carriageway is barely wide enough for three cars. And it only gets worse in the more rural areas. Best stick with the cities

Easily the most bonkers track I've ever designed (yes, worse than the volcano one), and probably a strong contender for RotR due to it's loose interpretation of a triangle. I had many ideas for this track, which, if I'd stuck with one of them, might have worked, but instead I decided to go for all of them:

1. Have a track with multiple types of sectors, within a triangular design.
2. Up the challenge by using a grid-based city.
3. Redesign the Adelaide Street Circuit as if it were 1960, retaining the iconic corners but looping around the entire city.

Decided to create a different track to enter this. This course is much shorter and a lot more technical, and still kind of retains the triangular shape needed.

I also made a modified version of the track, to show what the runoff area for the circuit would look like. I've made sure the runoff area doesn't contain any extreme elevation changes (as in small but steep mounds) or other obstructions (such as trees and buildings). http://www.mappedometer.com/?maproute=486586

The pits would probably be on the straight between the 3-4km mark or the 4-5km one.

East Perth Street Circuit. Pits are along Welshpool Road between the two 90 degree chicanes
