The FIA Formula O World Championship is the all-new series which hopes to crown a definitive World Champion of oval racing. The series will have a thirty-car grid and a ten-race season, culminating in an exciting Grand Final at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. All it needs is a field of teams.

Fourteen applications have been received:

If the plan is the same as outlined in the planning thread, he's using xkoranate.

Everything about this is fine, except the team name. Kolles has already gone; if you want to be the Renault works team (and get the extra budget that comes with it) then you can go with Alpine. Otherwise, Carlin Saxo, KC Manor and Target Ganassi are available.

EDIT - Ideally, I'd like to see Alpine Renault and Verizon Penske Chevrolet in the series, as they are the two remaining works teams, and there are only two teams left, so if you could pick one of them I'd be very grateful

Of course, it's perfectly possible that these drivers will not be the ones who roll out for the Grand Final at Indianapolis; teams will be allowed to change their drivers as the season goes on.

For drivers who do not complete the whole season, their fee shall be however many races they drive, times 10% of their season fee. So, if Max Chilton completes eight races, his fee will be 800,000; if he is replaced by Felix Rosenqvist for the last two races, Rosenqvist's fee will be 400,000. There will also be a 50,000 admin fee in order to change drivers.

Okay, hopefully that clears up one or two things.

Try removing any accented letters from the post, see if that helps.

D'Ambrosio wins inaugural Formula O 500 at Daytona

Image

The Corse Ferrari car driven by Jerome d'Ambrosio has won the first ever Formula O 500, after coming out on top of a four-way battle for the lead which lasted most of the race.

D'Ambrosio finished just over two seconds ahead of KC Manor's driver Takuma Sato, as the Japanese driver was the last man to fall off the Ferrari's bumper. The other two main challengers for the race, the American pair of Alexander Rossi (Dragon McAfee) and Scott Speed (Alpine Renault) fell away in the closing minutes of the race, and finished line astern fifteen seconds further back.

Also among those who managed to remain on the lead lap were Andre Lotterer (Newman Haas), Matthew Brabham (also Corse Ferrari), and the former F1 pair of Max Chilton (Alpine Renault) and Pastor Maldonado (Verizon Penske Chevrolet).

Despite being pre-season favourites to challenge for the title, neither Juan Pablo Montoya (Amlin Stefan) nor Stoffel Vandoorne (Corse Ferrari) managed to finish the race. Montoya was pushed off-line and into the wall after a mistake from Ho-Pin Tung, who was being lapped at the time. Tung escaped without notable damage, but Montoya's race was over. 44 laps later, many of which took place under caution while Montoya and his car were removed from the race track, Vandoorne drove over a piece of debris left over from the collision, and, as his front left tyre failed, crashed into the same bit of wall.

Finally, Katherine Legge became the first female driver to record a Formula O World Championship point by finishing in 20th position.

Great Start for us exactly where we thought we would be.
will there be any upgrades throughout the series?

I think it would be pretty dull if there weren't; I'll add in upgrade windows after every two races.

You will also be able to swap drivers in and out at any time.

van der Garde wins for Red Bull, DAMS and Chevrolet

Image

In a thrilling race at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Giedo van der Garde held off both Stoffel Vandoorne and Juan Pablo Montoya to secure the first victory for a Chevrolet-powered car.

He eventually finished two seconds ahead of Vandoorne, as they both managed to drive away from the experienced Montoya in third. Remarkably, none of this race's podium had finished the first race, so Jerome d'Ambrosio's ninth place was enough to retain his championship lead.

In the end, they were the only three drivers to finish on the lead lap of the flat-banked mile oval, where lap-times tended to be just over 20 seconds. As well as a dozen cars that failed to finish the race, several others suffered collisions and mechanical issues that left them several laps down from the leaders. Some of the most high-profile casualties were oval-racing veterans James Hinchcliffe, Takuma Sato and Mikhail Aleshin.

But right now, the Championship race remains wide open.
