Paddock News:
BREAKING NEWS: Lotus have officially made the tough decision to fire both of their drivers effective after the test at spa.
The paddock received shockwaves when Lotus released a statement stating that they will fire both of their drivers after 10 uninspiring attempts to pre-qualify and they will be taken over by a FIA-managed committee led by Alain Prost. The next problem then becomes who will replace both of them. Giedo Van der Garde was one possibility but he denied to join the team stating that they don’t need more funds to begin with. Daniel Riccardo, was slated to make his F1 debut for 2011 but he denied the offer from Lotus, rather wanting to finish out the season in his current junior formula seat before making the big jump to F1. So, they need to find two drivers that are available for loan for the rest of the season.
If you are interested in loaning your test driver to Lotus for the rest of the season, please post your terms of the loan, if any so they can either approve or deny it.
As for the next race, there’s really no timetable set for it, when it’s posted you will see it!

Round 11 Monza
First off, we got some driver changes to mention, if you haven’t noticed it in the first post. At Williams, Sam Bird was replaced by Giedo Van der Garde, who brings much needed money. As for Lotus, they managed to sign Kaz Nakajima to a race seat for the final six races. However, a second round of talks with Daniel Riccardo almost stalled again until Lotus threated to not contest the final six races if he didn’t sign with them. After sleeping on that comment from the team, he decided to agree to race for them in preparation for him getting a full-time drive for 2011.

Adrian Campos: “Oh so close, to scoring our first points!”
After the race, Campos was glad to see both cars finish on the lead lap but Sergio came one spot outside of the points. In an interview Adrian said, “Sergio did an awesome job fighting back from an average pit stop by our crew. We are continuing to get better and better.”
Lewis Hamilton: “I am glad to see someone other than a Ferrari driver win today”
After the race, Hamilton said that he was glad that he held on for the win over Massa. Hamilton said to the press, “look, I’m are hoping for a little more parity this season, and while it kind of happened in a couple instances, we must continue to look for ways to keep F1 relevant. Regarding his surprising win at Ferrari’s home turf, Hamilton said “I honestly think I stole that race away from the Tifosi. I was off in Qualifying but in the end our reliability and consistent race pace helped us during the second half of the race.”
Caterham staff: Disappointed to see Filippi retire from 10th with just a few laps left

Caterham are now wondering can they still manage to get out of Pre-Q for the final four races? One insider is bullish on that possibility, stating that their pace is great but it's been finishing the races this season that has been iffy.

Round 12 Singapore
Alright, we are off to the only true night race on the current calendar. The streets of Singapore require the utmost stamina because of the heat and humidity, and also the cars will have their max downforce packages because of the extensive amount of corners involved. In driver news, Jaime Algersauri was finally shown the door by Red Bull and is being replaced by Alvaro Parente, who has considerable junior series experience. In other stuff, as of now, Sauber-BMW has that all-important 10th spot in the teams standings, with Caterham on the outside looking in. This is important because after this race, the Pre-Q lists will be recalculated for the final quarter of the season. In the driver’s standings, with Vettel DNF’ing Monza and Massa finishing 2nd and Webber finishing 3rd, suddenly there’s a three way fight for the driver’s title. Which is infinitely better than it was at this point last year. So, let’s see who can outlast and outmaster this street circuit.

On Lap 1, Hamilton and Button suffered wing damage in separate collisions. Both had to pit. Lap 12, Pastor’s race was finished. Lap 20, Barrichello suffered wing damage after colliding the wall leading up to the final two turns. And a few laps later, will power suffered the same fate. Lap 30, Parente’s engine blew up, ending his first race with red bull. Lap 51, Pantano suffered electrical issues and then Klien’s engine was done just a few moments later.
In the end, Vettel takes another win and Massa was 20 seconds behind in 2nd. Webber did finish but in 6th, which means he lost ground to both Vettel and Massa.

Paddock News:
Caterham: “Oh well, we tried to get out of Pre-Q for the final quarter of the season, but it didn’t happen.”
The pit crew at Caterham wasn’t pleased after Singapore after Barrichello collided the wall and finished the race 3 laps down. Filippi on the other side of the garage, finished 1 lap down and in 18th well outside the points. Regarding this news that Caterham will still have to Pre-Q. They simply said, we are not going to can this season just yet, there is still a possibility that we finish in the top 10 in the team’s standings. The worst case scenario is 11th.
On a more important note, I am throwing this idea out there. I am considering switching games to Grand Prix 4 for 2011 onwards. As you all know GP4 has 22 car race grids only. However, I am stuck regarding the amount of teams on the entry list for 2011 and whether to keep on using the 2.4L V8’s or gradually phase in the 1.6L V6 Turbos. Here’s the two proposals that I been debating about. I can either
1 Keep the entry list at 20 teams, but the pre-q lists will be the bottom 11 teams in 2010. The list will be recalculated every 4 races. Which means to be straight into Qualifying, you must be in the top 9 teams. Only the top 4 cars in Pre-Q will move on to qualifying if we do this method and in addition all cars will still be using the 2.4L V8’s until the end of the 2013 season.
OR
2 Expand the entry list to 22 teams, with Durango and ART GP gaining entry. However, to be able to do this. I must remove the pre-q session and replace it with a form of three part qualifying. In Q1, only the bottom 11 teams will take the track. Likewise, in Q2, only the top 11 teams will take the track. After Q2, I will combine the Q1 and Q2 times and the top 22 cars on this combined timesheet will then participate in Q3, to determine the starting grid. Furthermore, if we decide to do this method, the FIA will allow both 2.4L V8’s and the 1.6L V6 Turbos to be used until the end of the 2013 season at that point the Turbos will be the sole choice for 2014 onwards.
Of course, you could insist to keep using Grand Prix 2 with everything staying as is. That’s choice number 3 if you think neither of these above proposals sounds good to you. As for the next race at Suzuka, that can wait after I hear from you guys! So post away your opinions!

Race Summary:

I'd say with the number of teams that are in this, option 3 would be the best because it allows more cars onto the grid for each race

Option 3, for two reasons. Firstly, things seem to be working fine as they are. Secondly, editing/modding GP4 is just...horrific really.

Optionn3, since it provides teams more of an opportunity to get onto the grid, as well as allowing the ossibility of better racing.

Round 13 Suzuka
Thanks for all the people that decided to give feedback. Here’s what I decided, I will not switch games and leave everything as is because of two reasons, One reason is as Wizzie bought up GP4 crashes itself out a lot, and even though I was planning to save midrace every three laps or so, I felt like it wasn’t worth the pain to do that. Second reason and arguably the more important reason, is the fact that by leaving everything as is, we will keep the 26-car race grids and the pre-q rules as is right now are working great. Here’s a fun fact, every single team bar Lotus has make it on a race grid this season! And not to mention that I have this format pretty well oiled out by now, so you guys have convinced me to keep using what is working.
Anyways, back to the racing, the next round is at Suzuka. You know it as the only track on the calendar that has a figure eight layout. So, here’s the recaps

One notable surprise is Kamui Kobaysahi getting Stefan GP up to 17th on the grid. He is predicting bold things at his home race, let’s see if his wishes come true or not.
Race Summary:
On Lap 1 turn 1, Lotterer and Grosjean collided. Lotterer had to pit for a new front wing and Grosjean spun off but was able to continue on. Lap 20, Massa lost his front wing when trying to go through laped traffic. He was forced to pit from 2nd. Lap 24, Hamilton dropped out from 3rd. Lap 37, Klien crashed out at 130R. Lap 48, Pantano was forced to park it. In the end, Vettel won, with Button 2nd, and Webber gaining a little ground on Massa by finishing 3rd. Massa was 4th. Buemi finished 5th and Barrichello hanging to finish 6th and some much needed points for Caterham, but they could had earned them in the previous round instead. Either way, points are points.

Kamui Kobayashi: “Thankful that the car lasted the whole distance this time around”
After failing to finish the race distance the first time around, Kamui Kobayashi was pleased that the car made it home in one piece. There’s still a possibility to overtake Williams with a better finish at the final three rounds of the season. Adding on, Zoran said, “We are desperate for any extra prize money that we can get at the end of the season. As is right now, our future looks a little bleak with our current position so if we can get just one position up on the teams table, preferably two positions up, we should call this first season a success.”
Rubens Barrichello: "We are happy to take the points, let's hope we can start the 2011 season not on the pre-q lists"
Already looking ahead to 2011 could be a dangerous thing, but Barrichello after recording a 6th place finish in the Japanese GP, is thinking big picture. After the race, Rubens simply said, "If this result will help us claw our way out of pre-q for next season, we will gladly take it!"
New team Durango on standby, for 2011 just in case a team falls through financially.
Reports are now coming out that Durango will not be given an entry for 2011, unless a current team falls through financially. As hinted earlier, Stefan GP looks like the team to crumble first, but the question is not if but when? Regarding Durango's status for 2011, manager Jacques Villeneuve, the 1997 WDC said the following: "We are in talks with Zoran. Our talks are just exploratory right now, but it highly depends on the amount of prize money that Stefan GP will get at the end of this season. Until we know for sure, what that amount would be, we are not going any further."
So, next up we have the final in-season test from Suzuka, so if you are planning any last-minute upgrades now it’s the time to post them!

Round 14 Interlagos
Well, we are off to Brazil for the next round. It seems that Ferrari have officially clinched the Teams title again. Of Course, it was like that some time ago. However, the driver’s title is still open. If Vettel has a 41-point or greater margin over Massa, the Driver’s title can be locked up after this race.

2 Rubens Barrichello +0.114

4 Pastor Maldonado +0.321

Nico Hulkenberg is relieved to see his car being able to race, let’s see if he can do anything to improve on DAMS standing in the team’s championship. As for Benoit Truleyer, he barely made it on the grid by 0.001 seconds! Can he do anything to at least bring McLaren fans some hope?
Race Summary
On Lap 5, Alonso was forced out with Suspension failure. And on the next lap, Rubens was forced out with Engine issues. On Lap 9, Hulkenberg’s race stopped way shorter than what he liked. Lap 28, Parente’s race was done for. Lap 44, Heidfeld DNF’ed. On Lap 62, Liuzzi was forced to DNF. In the end, Vettel got the win again, Massa finished 3rd but it wasn’t enough to force the driver’s title to the next race. So, for the third year in succession, we got a brand-new Driver’s Champion!

If the offer's still available, I could try to grasp less defeat from the jaws of defeat at Lotus for the rest of the season. I'll keep the lineup unchanged if so.

Round 15 Bahrain
With both championships officially done for. Many teams are planning ahead for next season. So, after much debate with myself, Initially, I was against introducing the V6 Turbos in an earlier post but now I am going to slowly ease them in over the next three seasons. In addition, the V8’s that are in use right now, can still be used for 2011-13, but their power output will be dropped by restricting the revs to 16000 not 18000 like it was this season. As a result of this news all of the current engine makers minus Cosworth and BMW will be developing the new V6 Turbos. Of Course, I will still be using Grand Prix 2 to run this series.
Anyways, back to the present, the circus stops at Bahrain. And all up and down the paddock, there is still a whole lot of positions left to be decided for the team’s standings. No more obvious than the battle for 10th, AKA the bubble position. Right now, Caterham is hanging on thanks to the tiebreaker for a higher race finish. Further up the pack, the battle for 2nd spot sees Brawn GP and Force India duking it out. And on the bottom of the pylon, we see seven teams battling for standings and prize money. Some of them like Stefan GP need that money like they need air. Others like Williams and McLaren are obviously more concerned about next season’s plans because they have enough money just in case they happen to finish this season with no points on the scoreboard.
And just in case you haven’t noticed in the first post, we finally have found a person to take over Lotus, welcome This Could Be You to the series, and if you want to stick around for the 2011 season, you can go ahead and do that as well!
So, let’s see who can perform well at the second to final race.

Both DAMS will race after qualifying 22nd and 24th. Chandhok in the USF1 also made it in. But for Kamui Kobayashi and Stefan GP, they only have one more chance left to improve on their result in the team’s standings.
Race Summary
On Lap 8, Vettel spun off at turn 1 and was forced to claw his way back from 25th and last, after Parente DNF’ed the red bull on the lap before. Lap 14, Liuzzi was forced to DNF. Lap 23, Hamilton retired while running 6th. Lap 26, Buemi is also done. Lap 29, Rosberg was also done. On the very next lap, Button parked it. Lap 40, Filippi failed to finish. Lap 46, Kovalainen was forced out of the race. With three laps left, Webber was on the second sector before his engine let go from 2nd. In the end, Massa wins but it’s too little too late because he would had use this race win one race earlier. Never the less, a win is a win.

Paddock News:
BMW and Cosworth will NOT develop V6 Turbos for different reasons
As the new two-engine formula got finalized for 2011-13, Cosworth and BMW have come out and said that they will not develop V6 Turbos for the time being. BMW’s reason is that there six cylinder engines for street use are normally Inline, and they felt like it’s not worth their time to develop such an engine that they have no experience on. In addition, BMW also announced that they will intend to withdraw from F1 at the end of the 2013 season. On the other hand, Cosworth’s reason is slightly different, it’s the cost involved to develop such an engine that would force them to wait a season or two before even considering building a V6 Turbo engine, if they decided to stay in F1 past the 2013 season. The good news is that BMW and Cosworth will still provide their 2.4L V8’S to teams over the next three years.
The final round should be posted in a day or so!

Re: KL-Racer's F1 2010:Bahrian Race results up!
For the record, Ferrari will NOT be supplying any customer teams with their new V6T next year, as we feel it will dilute from our development program in 2011. However, we are more than happy to provide the V8 to customers who are interested.

Mercedes will be using V6T turbo engines for the works team and one customer team while we would provide V8 engines for two customer teams.

Well at least we're marginally better than Di Grassi and Van de Garde (if that's not damning with faint praise, I don't know what is).

Okay, it took me a while because of the damn Pokémon GO app taking over my local city of Tucson! Anyways, I have to dig a little deeper than usual for Pay drivers but since there's only one race left. It made my search a little easier. So, I have found a couple of them that could bring $1.5m of sponsors for Abu Dubai. Fairuz Fauzy and Mikhail Aleshin. Sorry, I couldn't find any more drivers that were willing to do an one-off race and brings money!
