Well, you won't be signing them, because:

I'll take them off your list for you, so it's just Agip, Shell and Mobil ;).

My bad, I've edited the post.

Tyre & Fuel Signing Results
Minardi, Spirit, RAM and Osella will all be using Pirelli tyres, as was their only choice.

Michelin, first deal:
Ferrari - 23% chance
McLaren - 9% chance
Renault - 21% chance
Ligier - 1% chance
Tyrrell - 4% chance
Williams - 10% chance
Lotus - 4% chance
ATS - 1% chance
Toleman - 3% chance
Brabham - 19% chance
Brabham gets it!

Michelin, second deal:
Ferrari - 29% chance
McLaren - 12% chance
Renault - 26% chance
Ligier - 1% chance
Tyrrell - 5% chance
Williams - 12% chance
Lotus - 5% chance
ATS - 1% chance
Toleman - 4% chance
Renault gets it!

Michelin, third deal:
Ferrari - 40% chance
McLaren - 16% chance
Ligier - 2% chance
Tyrrell - 7% chance
Williams - 17% chance
Lotus - 6% chance
ATS - 2% chance
Toleman - 6% chance
McLaren gets it!

Fourth and final deal, for the fastest tyres out there:
Ferrari - 48% chance
Ligier - 2% chance
Tyrrell - 8% chance
Williams - 21% chance
Lotus - 8% chance
ATS - 2% chance
Toleman - 7% chance
Ferrari gets it!

Goodyear, first deal:
Arrows - 6% chance
Ligier - 3% chance
Tyrrell - 12% chance
Williams - 31% chance
Lotus - 12% chance
ATS - 3% chance
Toleman - 11% chance
Alfa Romeo - 17% chance

Goodyear, second deal:
Arrows - 10% chance
Ligier - 5% chance
Tyrrell - 18% chance
Lotus - 17% chance
ATS - 5% chance
Toleman - 16% chance
Alfa Romeo - 25% chance
Alfa Romeo gets it!

Goodyear, third deal:
Arrows - 13% chance
Ligier - 7% chance
Tyrrell - 25% chance
Lotus - 23% chance
ATS - 7% chance
Toleman - 22% chance
Lotus gets it!

Goodyear, fourth deal:
Arrows - 17% chance
Ligier - 9% chance
Tyrrell - 33% chance
ATS - 9% chance
Toleman - 29% chance
ATS gets it!
Lucky~...

Goodyear, fifth deal:
Arrows - 19% chance
Ligier - 10% chance
Tyrrell - 36% chance
Toleman - 32% chance
Toleman gets it!

The last set of Goodyears, and arguably the last set of competitive rubber, goes to...
Arrows - 29% chance
Ligier - 16% chance
Tyrrell - 54% chance
Tyrrell gets it!

Arrows and Ligier are left out in the cold, and have no other choice but to sign tyre contracts with Pirelli, instead.

We move onto fuel...

French supplier, Elf's, first deal:
Renault - 34% chance
Ligier - 2% chance
Tyrrell - 6% chance
Williams - 16% chance
Lotus - 6% chance
Spirit - 2% chance
Brabham - 31% chance
Renault gets it!

Elf, second deal:
Ligier - 3% chance
Tyrrell - 10% chance
Williams - 25% chance

Spirit - 3% chance
Brabham - 47% chance
Brabham gets it!

Elf, third deal:
Ligier - 5% chance
Tyrrell - 20% chance
Williams - 48% chance
Lotus - 19% chance
Spirit - 5% chance
Williams gets it!

Elf, fourth deal:
Ligier - 11% chance
Tyrrell - 39% chance
Lotus - 37% chance
Spirit - 11% chance
Tyrrell gets it!

Now, Agip:
Minardi - 3% chance
Ferrari - 69% chance
Arrows - 6% chance
Osella - 3% chance
Alfa Romeo - 16% chance
Alfa Romeo gets it!

Agip, second deal:
Minardi - 4% chance
Ferrari - 83% chance
Arrows - 7% chance
Osella - 4% chance
Ferrari gets it!

Agip, third and final deal:
Minardi - 26% chance
Arrows - 47% chance
Osella - 26% chance
Osella gets it!

Castrol, first deal:
Arrows - 20% chance
Lotus - 35% chance
Spirit - 11% chance
Toleman - 33% chance
Spirit gets it!

Castrol, second deal:
Arrows - 11% chance
McLaren - 49% chance
Lotus - 20% chance
Toleman - 18% chance
McLaren gets it!
As Castrol are McLaren's third choice, we move on to their first choice...

Mobil:
Arrows - 15% chance
McLaren - 67% chance
Ligier - 8% chance
ATS - 8% chance
ATS gets it!
Blimey.

Onto the second and final Mobil deal, to see if McLaren get their first choice, or have to settle for Castrol fuel.
Arrows - 16% chance
McLaren - 73% chance
Ligier - 9% chance
McLaren gets it!

We then re-roll the second Castrol fuel deal, with McLaren removed from the bidding.
Arrows - 22% chance
Lotus - 40% chance
Toleman - 37% chance
Toleman gets it!

With four Shell fuel deals on offer and only two teams interested, Ligier and Lotus both sign contracts with the Dutch supplier.

Only Valvoline remain, RAM's first choice and Minardi's second.

tl;dr

Ferrari will be using Michelin tyres and Agip fuel.
Renault will be using Michelin tyres and Elf fuel.
Nordica Brabham Renault will be using Michelin tyres and Elf fuel.
Benetton Williams Porsche will be using Goodyear tyres and Elf fuel.
McLaren will be using Michelin tyres and Mobil fuel.
JPS Alfa Romeo will be using Goodyear tyres and Agip fuel.
Tyrrell Renault will be using Goodyear tyres and Elf fuel.
Lotus Renault will be using Goodyear tyres and Shell fuel.
Skoal Bandit Toleman will be using Goodyear tyres and Castrol fuel.
Arrows BMW will be using Pirelli tyres.
Ligier BMW will be using Pirelli tyres and Shell fuel.
Spirit will be using Pirelli tyres and Castrol fuel.
ATS will be using Goodyear tyres and Mobil fuel.
Osella will be using Pirelli tyres and Agip fuel.
RAM will be using Pirelli tyres and Valvoline fuel.
Minardi Alfa Romeo will be using Pirelli tyres and Valvoline fuel.

Your team information and remaining budgets have been updated at the start of the thread. The Arrows and Osella teams, in particular, should have a quick look at theirs!

@Arrows - your were unsuccessful in signing any of your three preferred fuel suppliers.

Both Shell and Valvoline have deals remaining. Which would you like to sign?

Not again... We'll take Shell then (not that that's particularly terrible). However with unreliable, unresponsive engines (that can't be developed), lousy tyres, an unaerodynamic chassis which also lacks downforce, no sponsors, and an inexperienced driver, this season isn't looking all that brilliant for Arrows

Alright, I don't think anyone wants to talk shop about tyre and fuel deals, so let's get back to the interesting stuff:

Driver Signing – Set Two (Of Two)
This is the second and final phase of driver signing. Excited? Apprehensive? I am, too~!

To attempt signing of a driver, simply state the driver's name, like this:

Code: Select all

Team Yellow Hat would like to sign the following drivers:
Brian Greaves
Moira Tan
Takoga Castillo

Pay drivers are indicated by red font, and brackets surrounding their salaries.

A couple of reminders:
Renault & Alfa Romeo - your engine suppliers have preferences on the driver nationalities they would prefer to see in your team. In Renault's case, this is a French driver, and in Alfa Romeo's case, an Italian driver. It's just a preference, though...

Teams without an engine deal - left-over from phase one of engine signing, there will still be two BMW semi-works engine deals available and one Alfa Romeo customer deal. If you are interested in signing one of those deals in phase two of engine signing, remember that the BMW deals require at least one German driver on your team, and the Alfa deal an Italian driver on your team.

For reference, here are each team's vacant seats, which they must fill in this phase:

Ferrari have one seat available.
Renault have one seat available.
Brabham have one seat available.
Williams have one seat available.
McLaren do not have any vacant seats.
Alfa Romeo have one seat available.
Tyrrell have both seats available.
Lotus have one seat available.
Toleman have one seat available.
Arrows have one seat available.
Ligier do not have any vacant seats.
Spirit do not have any vacant seats.
ATS have one seat available.
Osella have both seats available.
RAM do not have any vacant seats.
Minardi do not have any vacant seats.

OK~, now go have at it~!

Poor guy.
I count on ATS to sign Bellof and the semi-works BMW engines, because Arrows is just not going to help BMW's image much forward :P
I assume McLaren won't be interested, as they probably have a suspicion about a very interesting manufacturer that is likely to be available in the second phase.

I know I (Williams) am yet again about to raise the levels of anger, but as much as we are happy to have Elf fuel (and want it), we never bid for it as it was deemed signing a French driver would be a pre-condition too far for us, especially after BMW-Gate with Ligier

As for Drivers:
1. Prost
2. Lauda
3. Bellof

This is... quite a reprehensible mistake on the organiser's part. The blame ultimately lays with Elf, though, of course, who will take suitable action immediately. Regardless of what this action is, you will keep your Elf fuel contract for 1984 under the current terms.

Conflict Resolution (Elfgate)
What has happened:
Benetton Williams Porsche submitted fuel bids to suppliers Castrol, Mobil and Shell. The Mobil bid, however, was misinterpreted as Elf.

The consequences of what happened:
The Williams team now have a fuel supply of higher performance (and cost) than they should have had for 1984. Furthermore, the Ligier, Lotus and Spirit teams – who all submitted bids for a supply of Elf's fuel - lost out on the chance to sign the deal that Williams mistakenly (and innocently) took.

What will happen:
It has been decided that it is not practical to 'unwind' the contract signing that has taken place, due to the amount of teams and suppliers involved.

Benetton Williams Porsche will be permitted to retain their Elf fuel contract for 1984 under the current terms, as they bear no responsibility for this mistake.

The Ligier, Lotus and Spirit teams will be compensated by being refunded a percentage, equal to their chance of signing a deal with Elf, of Elf's deal cost:

Ligier - 19% chance
Lotus - 61% chance
Spirit - 19% chance

Ligier will be refunded £171,000 (19% of £900,000)
Lotus will be refunded £549,000 (61% of £900,000)
Spirit will be refunded £171,000 (19% of £900,000)

In the interests of clearing this mess up at the earliest opportunity, as Elf participate as a sponsor themselves, the compensation paid by them will be deducted from Elf's sponsorship income available to teams in phase two.

The FIA and Elf would like to apologise for this mix-up.

Driver Signing Results - Set Two (Of Two)
Before we begin, let's give the Osella team some good news; both their first picks are unmolested by other teams...

... Piercarlo Ghinzani...

... and Mauro Baldi!

But, now onto the main course . Everybody wants a piece of the man who let the Renault team down, or - who the Renault team let down - depending on your perspective:
Ferrari - 30% chance
Renault - 27% chance
Brabham - 24% chance
Toleman - 4% chance
Williams - 13% chance
Ferrari gets Alain Prost!

Niki Lauda
Renault - 67% chance
Williams - 32% chance
Renault gets it!

Steffan Bellof
Williams - 59% chance
Alfa Romeo - 33% chance
ATS - 7% chance
Williams gets it!

Nigel Mansell
Toleman - 48% chance
Lotus - 51% chance
Lotus gets it!

Keke Rosberg has nowhere to go but Arrows.

Alan Jones
Tyrrell - 53% chance
Toleman - 46% chance
Toleman gets it!

Derek Warwick is therefore guaranteed a seat in the second Tyrrell.

Pierluigi Martini will lead the Alfa Romeo squad.

Brabham and Tyrrell battle it out for the services of Patrick Tambay:
Brabham - 81% chance
Tyrrell - 18% chance
Brabham gets it!

Everyone's friend, Eddie Cheever, signs with Tyrrell!

Which means Stefan Johansson will drive the second ATS.

Everyone's team info and budgets have been adjusted at the start of the thread.

But, before I go, now that everyone's seats are filled, let's take a quick look at the driver line-up for F1 1984~!

Alain Prost and Elio de Angelis will be driving for Ferrari.
Niki Lauda and Michele Alboreto will be driving for Renault.
Patrick Tambay and Riccardo Patrese will be driving for Nordica Brabham Renault.
Ayrton Senna and Steffan Bellof will be driving for Benetton Williams Porsche. <-- Quite the dream team!
Nelson Piquet and René Arnoux will be driving for McLaren.
Desiré Wilson and Pierluigi Martini will be driving for JPS Alfa Romeo.
Eddie Cheever and Derek Warwick will be driving for Tyrrell Renault. <-- This line-up seems familiar, somehow...
Nigel Mansell and Martin Brundle will be driving for Lotus Renault.
Thierry Boutsen and Alan Jones will be driving for Skoal Bandit Toleman.
Alessandro Nannini and Keke Rosberg will be driving for Arrows BMW. <-- Signing a champion is a turning-point in Arrows' season, although it's nearly bankrupted them in the process.
Manfred Winkelhock and Chico Serra will be driving for Ligier BMW.
Philippe Streiff will be driving for Spirit.
John Watson and Stefan Johansson will be driving for ATS.
Piercarlo Ghinzani and Mauro Baldi will be driving for Osella.
Roberto Guerrero and Guido Daccò will be driving for RAM.
Andrea de Cesaris will be driving for Minardi Alfa Romeo.

I honestly didn't expect to sign Rosberg at all, but I guess something had to go right- now Arrows has a strong lineup (albeit one with a worrying similarity to TWR's 1997 driver stategy, and we all know how that went )to make up for our awful chassis.

One thing's for sure though, we will need a ton of high paying sponsors to keep afloat now!

Deliberately. All of my requested sponsors are Italian except for FUJI TV, which would give extra exposure to the Italian sponsors. I see no other Italian sponsors available, so I added no seventh option.

I have plans for 1985 on changing (improving) the way nationalities interplay with contract signing (to reward the type of behaviour you've displayed), and this adds further fuel to the fire, so thank you. At the end of 1984, I plan to have a little 'provide feedback on how the virtual series was run' session with those that want to participate, so I look forward to hearing more from you on this.

Bear in mind that you won't be getting subsidies from the Italian government, so avoiding 'tainting' the car with a non-domestic sponsor isn't something I plan to reward you, or anyone, with!

Just Osella/TheFlyingCaterham to go. I'm told that he's elsewhere for the duration of the weekend.

While waiting, I did a dummy-run of the sponsor RNGs (minus Osella), and the result was...  !
