I swear I already posted mine but whatever I'll do it now.

Sponsor Signing Results - Set Two (Of Two)
Parmalat:
Lotus - 19% chance
Arrows - 11% chance
Tyrrell - 20% chance
McLaren - 48% chance
McLaren gets it!

But they're McLaren's second choice, so let's jump to their first choice, Marlboro:
Lotus - 22% chance
Tyrrell - 23% chance
McLaren - 54% chance
McLaren gets it!

So, we re-roll Parmalat, sans McLaren:
Lotus - 38% chance
Arrows - 21% chance
Tyrrell - 40% chance
Tyrrell gets it!

Saudia:
Lotus - 64% chance
Arrows - 36% chance
Arrows gets it!

Candy therefore will sign with Lotus.

Toleman acquire sponsorship from their British fuel supplier, Castrol.

Ferodo:
Lotus - 16% chance
Spirit - 5% chance
Tyrrell - 17% chance
RAM - 5% chance
Williams - 41% chance
Toleman - 15% chance
Toleman gets it!

sTp:
Spirit - 6% chance
Tyrrell - 23% chance
Ligier - 6% chance
Williams - 56% chance
ATS - 6% chance
Williams gets it!

Resta:
Minardi - 50% chance
Osella - 50% chance
Minardi gets it!

Carvico:
Minardi - 50% chance
Osella - 50% chance
Minardi gets it!

Alright, alright. Quit gloating, Minardi.

Osella are now guaranteed to sign Agip's better sponsorship offer.

FUJI TV:
Spirit - 33% chance
RAM - 33% chance
Minardi - 33% chance
Spirit gets it!

DeLonghi:
Arrows - 12% chance
Spirit - 6% chance
Minardi - 6% chance
Ligier - 6% chance
Williams - 54% chance
ATS - 6% chance
Osella - 6% chance
ATS gets it!

Kelémata:
Arrows - 13% chance
Minardi - 7% chance
Ligier - 7% chance
Williams - 63% chance
Osella - 7% chance
Williams gets it!

At this point, the RAM team sign Pernod.

Marilena:
Lotus - 33% chance
Tyrrell - 35% chance
Minardi - 10% chance
Ligier - 10% chance
Osella - 10% chance
Osella gets it!

Copec:
Spirit - 25% chance
RAM - 25% chance
Ligier - 25% chance
Osella - 25% chance
Osella gets it!

Europcar:
Arrows - 47% chance
RAM - 26% chance
Ligier - 26% chance
Ligier gets it!

Arrows sign SYDEXPO, the only team left with space for them on their car.

So to does Spirit sign Olympus.

Antar:
Spirit - 50% chance
RAM - 50% chance
RAM gets it!

Maredo:
Tyrrell - 77% chance

Tyrrell gets it!

RAM signed Pernod and Antar, for a total sponsorship income of £3,000,000.

For the first time, we will enjoy live pictures from a driver's perspective, thanks to the Spirit team agreeing to carry FUJI TV's prototype onboard camera for the season. The following degradations have been applied to the team's '101' chassis design:

Code: Select all

Drag increase of 4% (Drag = 82% > Drag = 86%)
Weight increase of 5kg (Weight = 540kg > Weight = 545kg)

And finally, a quick review of every team's sponsorship income combined from both phases, for 1984:

RAM signed a total sponsorship income of £3,000,000. They will contest 1984 with two unfilled supplementary slots.

For anyone curious (like me), here are the total combined sponsorship incomes with manufacturer income included:

So my car is so much of a boat it should be described as a hull rather than a chassis, but I have a ton of money and a dope lineup of Prost/de Angelis?

This could be a very interesting season indeed!

I've actually already done the Ligier, Brabham and most of the Renault already, so it isn't that hard to do all sixteen- the only problem is revising the templates to fit the designs, as I only have templates for McLaren, Brabham, Arrows and Ligier (again not that bad, as most designs either look like the Arrows or McLaren)

So we have a badass works contract but a horrible chassis, huge unreliability, bad tyres, a hopeless pay-driver, an underrated though average lead driver, a bunch or mediocre sponsors, and our only customer so far is Arrows, who have written good luck all over them.
I predict loads of DNF's from average position, lots of crashes, loads of Guy Ligier outbursts and a sacking of the one in charge at the BMW headquarters...
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

You should totally do and post them, then (if only to use to cheer-up the Ligier team)! Thank you! I can also use them in the team overview at the start of the thread, the end-of-year season review, and in the race reports for each Grand Prix :).

Ok then, here are the liveries I have done so far (besides my own):

Ligier:
Image
(You gave me tricky colours to work with)

Brabham:
Image

Renault:

Lotus:
Image
(Looks like a Toleman, ironically)

Williams:
Image

Tyrrell:
Image

Minardi:
Image
(the sponsor logos were a bit low-res on this one)

Ferrari:
Image
(DemocalypseNow, you did realise Topolino is the Italian Mickey Mouse when choosing it?)

Alfa Romeo:
Image
(This didn't turn out anywhere near as badly as I thought it would)

Osella:
Image

Toleman:
Image
(why so many colours...)

Mclaren:
Image

RAM:
Image

Spirit:
Image
(Not really much of a livery, to be honest...)

ATS:
Image
(If the Parfums Victor logo looks a bit homemade, well that because it was- i couldn't find it anywhere, so just fashioned one based off pictures of the Osella)

^ @TCBY - those are fantastic! I know you can't do six of the teams until they sign engine suppliers, so I'll get on with that now.

Engine Signing - Set Two (Of Two)
Hello and welcome to the final phase of engine signing, and the final phase of signing anything for 1984, now! After this, we'll soon be going racing~!

Teams without an engine deal for 1984 who need to submit their wishlist are:
  • McLaren
  • Toleman
  • Spirit (will receive a 25% discount on the price offered, due to being a single-car entry)
  • ATS
  • Osella
  • RAM

Engine prices are non-negotiable. To submit your interest in an engine deal, simply state the engine manufacturer, unit/model name, and deal you would prefer, like this:

Code: Select all

My team would like to sign one of the below engine suppliers, in order of preference:
Hart 415T - Works
Honda RA163E - Semi-Works
Ford Cosworth DFV - Customer

What do these deal types mean?

Works engine deals…
  • Do allow you to dictate the direction of the engine's development.
  • Engine development & testing is available to you.
  • You will receive upgrades throughout the season.

Semi-works engine deals…
  • Do not allow you to dictate the direction of the engine's development.
  • Engine development & testing is available to you.
  • You will receive upgrades throughout the season, at approximately half the rate the works team receives them.

Customer engine deals…
  • Do not allow you to dictate the direction of the engine's development.
  • Engine development & testing is not available to you.
  • You will not receive upgrades throughout the season.

^ Thanks :-).

Engine Signing Results - Set Two (Of Two)
Honda RA163E – Semi-Works
McLaren - 66% chance
Toleman - 25% chance
ATS - 8% chance
McLaren gets it!

Minardi might not have it so easy, now that Osella are getting Alfa Romeo 890T – Customer engines!

But, now~, they battle it out~, for the finest naturally-aspirated engine out there, the Ford Cosworth DFY – Works:
Spirit - 20% chance
Toleman - 60% chance
ATS - 20% chance
Spirit gets it!

That means...

... both Toleman and RAM will be getting their third and first choices, respectively - the Ford Cosworth DFV – Customer engines....

... and the ATS team will be using BMW M12/13 – Semi-Works engines!

tl;dr

Marlboro McLaren Honda signed Honda RA163E – Semi-Works engines.
Skoal Bandit Toleman Ford signed Ford Cosworth DFV – Customer engines.
Spirit Ford signed Ford Cosworth DFY – Works engines.
ATS BMW signed BMW M12/13 – Semi-Works engines.
Osella Alfa Romeo signed Alfa Romeo 890T – Customer engines.
RAM Ford signed Ford Cosworth DFV – Customer engines.

Some may feel McLaren overpaid for an engine they don't have control over, but I think they might be satisfied with what Honda have to offer. Toleman, despite having the fourth-highest sponsorship income out of everyone - somewhat saddled themselves with customer DFVs they won't be able to develop. Spirit got lucky and have fantastic engines to offset the comically-oversized Beta camera strapped to their sole car. ATS and Osella have spent big in return for bucketfuls of horsepower, and Ligier can look forward to the German team help develop their engine for them!

One BMW M12/13 semi-works deal, both the Alfa Romeo 1260 customer deals, the Hart 415T works deal, and both the Hart 415T customer deals go unused for 1984 .

Setting Direction of Engines' Development
Before we go racing, we just need to do a tiny bit of housekeeping.

Now that everyone has got an engine supplier sorted out, works engine teams need to pick the direction of their engine's development.

We need to do this, because semi-works teams that want to develop their engines can only do so in the direction the works team has dictated.

Works teams (or in the absence of a works team, the manufacturer) are free to change their direction any time they like - just let me know with a post in this thread.

Honda did not offer a works contract, opting to retain control over their engine no matter what. They have chosen to increase the horsepower of their engine, and therefore any development done on the engine by McLaren will be in that direction.

The direction of all works engines in use for 1984 are listed below the calendar at the start of the thread.

Possible directions of engine development:
  • Increase horsepower
  • Reduce weight
  • Increase reliability

To set the direction of your works engine's development, simply do so like this:

Code: Select all

MyTeam would like to set the direction of MyEngine's development to: reduce weight.

The following teams need to set the direction of development of their works engines:
  • Ferrari (Ferrari 031)
  • Alfa Romeo (Alfa Romeo 890T)
  • Renault (Renault EF4)
  • Lotus (Renault EF4B)
  • Williams (Porsche TTEPO1)
  • Ligier (BMW M12/13)
  • Spirit (Ford Cosworth DFY)]

Ligier would like to set the direction of BMW development to: weight reduction
One might think reliability would be the obvious choice, as this is our achilles heel, but we got average drivers, a rejectful car and Pirelli tyres. We need something to play with the big boys, even if this means many retirements. We're gambling on a few fluke results. Our horsepower should normally already be pretty decent.
I'm sure Gunther Schmidt will have a few words with Guy Ligier over the season, but who isn't looking forward to seeing that, right?

Spirit, completely surprised by Cosworth's decision, opts to attempt to increase horsepower.

We hope that this will be the start of a fruitful partnership.

As you can see above, I have now done liveries for all sixteen teams. I hope you are happy with them (some of the sponsors were really tricky to mesh into a coherent scheme)

They look awesome~ 8-). Thank you.

I love how some of the original colours of the team come through, but the sponsorship liveries radically change the appearance of some of the cars.

The Williams looks great with the diagonal Benetton styling. I was worried the Alfa would look identical to the RL '84 Lotus, but the little elements of red dispel any such notion. The Tyrrell looks like a sister car to the Brabham. The Lotus kinda looks like a mash-up of the Lotus 80 and 81 together. The Toleman is ugly as bathplug. The grey and orange scheme on the ATS looks really futuristic and nicely worked. The Spirit has the onboard camera on it :D and it even has the company name in katakana !

I've put them into the team info post at the start of the thread.

If people haven't seen their car yet, go here and check it out!

That is katakana, not kanji.

Anyways, these liveries look pretty nice TCBY, good job on them. My favourites are probably the Alfa Romeo (the little bits of red on the JPS livery makes it look a lot better) and the Ligier (the light and dark blue and orange actually work pretty well on the car).

It's on the first post, in the team lineup. I agree with Biobiro that it doesn't look that great, as there are four main colours on a not particularly pretty carshape.

Topolino was Fulvio Ballabio's personal sponsor when the Italian driver was going to drive for Spirit. In testing, Ballabio's car sported a red "Sport Goofy" livery, while the white "Topolino" car was tested by no less than Emerson Fittipaldi!
Of course, Ballabio never got a Superlicence (while Fittipaldi deemed the car too slow and put any comeback plans on hold), hence why we never got to see this epic livery in a race weekend. In that Mickey Mouse issue from 1984, the actual Formula 1 driver was Donald Duck, who was shortly schooled by a certain "Fulvio Palladio" and had to race against (among others such as "Niki Bagnacauda", "Alain Crost", "Riccardo Pretese") bad guy "Emerson Fritticaldi" :deletraz:

Round 1 - Brazilian Grand Prix, Jacarepaguá, 25th March 1984

Qualifying Results:
Fresh from his second championship victory, despite a switch in team, Piquet demoralised everyone except his team mate by displaying just how good the combination of McLaren's chassis and Honda's engine was, and then demoralised team mate Arnoux by taking pole with a gap of 1.4 seconds. The inexperienced Brundle made excellent use of his 750 horsepower, experimental Renault engine. Desiré Wilson was one of the surprises of the session, putting her Alfa sixth on the grid, as was new-boy Senna in the powerful, but poorly-handling Williams. Watson squeezed every ounce of power from his BMW turbo to start an excellent sixteenth; his team mate not far behind. The Tolemans were a disappointment, with former champion Alan Jones starting no higher than twenty-first; both the team's drivers complained of a lack of power from their naturally-aspirated DFVs. At the back of the grid, it was an especially disappointing start to 1984 for the British RAM squad.

Race Results:
The first lap was a tremendous embarrassment to the Brabham team, as Tambay's engine blew before the first corner, with Brundle and Patrese quickly retiring afterwards. Senna's clutch was slipping on lap four, and several laps later Piquet's eight-second lead meant nothing when his Honda engine went-up in a cloud of smoke. The Toleman and Arrows cars retired back-to-back - Rosberg having been in contention for eighth-place with Johansson. In the end, Arnoux's win seemed more like 'second place with benefits', as Piquet's pace in qualifying had worried the Frenchman greatly. There was no concern on American Eddie Cheever's face, though, who brought his Tyrrell home a superb second-place.
