Re: 1976 European F2 Championship - Team Assignments
The Rules
General Rules
- All constructor teams must enter 2 cars at all races. They don't have to have the same chassis, but must use the same engine.
- Points are 9-6-4-3-2-1 and the best 11 results count towards the title.
- Teams that are in the red once the season has finished and all prize money distributed will be declared bankrupt and will have their assets sold off in the post-season auction. The next person on the waiting list will then have the opportunity to move up into the series.
Marketplace
- The Marketplace for 1976 will open once all team spots are filled
- Each constructor team must purchase a minimum of two chassis and two engines. You may purchase more as necessary, but no team can own more than three chassis at any one time.
- If you have enough money you can build a new chassis from categories A-F, and doing so entitles you to both entrants and constructors prize money at the end of the season and mid-season upgrades. You can buy an existing chassis but you will only receive entrants prize money at the end of the season and will not be able to upgrade your car mid-season.
- There are an unlimited number of engines available from each manufacturer.
- Teams are also free to do private sales or lease deals among themselves.
Damage
As it works very well, the series will use a modified version of the damage system used in Tommykl's Alt-F1 will be adopted.
- For every race-ending accident or collision that a driver is involved in, an RNG will be rolled depending on the severity of the crash. The categories are as follows:
Category 1: 0-25% the cost of the chassis
2: 20-45%, 5% of driver injury
3: 40-65%, 5% chance of a write-off, 10% of driver injury
4: 60-85%, 10% chance of a write-off, 20% of driver injury, 5% of driver death
5: 80-105%, 20% chance of a write-off, 50% of driver injury, 10% of driver death
6: 100-125%, 50% chance of a write-off, 75% of driver injury, 20% of driver death
7: 120-150%, 75% chance of a write-off, 90% of driver injury, 50% of driver death
- For each mechanical failure caused by an oil leak, water leak or outright engine failure, a similar RNG will be run. The range will be from 0-150, with any value over 100 being considered a total write-off. Any engine that is deemed a write-off will have a residual scrap value of 10% of original value.
- All damage must be repaired before each race, or a spare car can be entered in its place.
Aging
At the end of each season, chassis will undergo aging to reflect their growing obsolescence. The aging will be as follows:
1976-Spec Car
1 Year (start of 1977): -2 DF, -1 Handling, +1000 Reliability
2 Years (1978): -3 DF, -2 Handling, +2000 Reliability
3 Years (1979): You aren't gonna live to see it
1975-Spec Car
1 Year (1977): -3 DF, -2 Handling, +2000 Reliability
2 Years (1978): See 3 years for 1976-spec cars
1974-Spec Cars
1 Year (1977): You likely are bankrupt or in hilarious debt
1973-Spec Cars
1 year (1977): Not even Formula Ford cars are this bad
Prize Money
- The following prize money will be distributed each race:
- At the end of the season, each team will receive the following prize money, determined by their placing in a teams' championship:
Privateers
- You can set up a separate or not privateer team once the main teams are all assigned.
- A privateer team will be assigned a budget and can then buy whatever chassis and engine they want and sign whatever dubious driver they so wish to choose.
- After that, they can submit the races they will be entering (travel costs will come up in due course). Each race will have a maximum limit of 40 entries.
- If a race has more than 28 entries then all privateer entries will automatically go into pre-qualifying.
- There will be a prequalifying shuffle every 4 races, with the top 12 teams in the EC going straight to main qualifying.
- The amount of prize money they will receive at the end of the season will be EC position/16*no. of races entered+(1,000*points).
- If a privateer scores 3 or more world championship points in a season, for a £100,000 fee, they can become a main team for 1977.
- I encourage as many privateers as possible to enter, as it livens up the series.
Race formats
- Each race will have pre-qualifying (if there's enough privateer interest in that race) with the top 3 teams on aggregate timing going through to qualifying
- A maximum of 28 cars is allowed in qualifying, and qualifying will be stretched over 2 sessions, 1 on Friday and 1 on Saturday, with the best time from those sessions determining a driver's grid position.
- Most races follow the conventional 1-race format, with the exception of the races at the Hockenheimring, which have 2 heats, and a driver's best results from those races will count towards the championship. If 2 drivers score the same amount of points (i.e they both finish 6th in 1 race) then whoever got the better result in the 2nd race will be classified in that position on the championship.
Driver deaths
- Even though you might think that there isn't a point in this, it is the 1970s here, and driver deaths were still very common.
- If a driver dies, then teams are expected to provide the deceased's relatives with a form of financial compensation, and an RNG will be rolled to decide how much will be paid out.

Re: 1976 European F2 Championship - Team Assignments
And with that all main teams for 1976 are gone! You can now post your planned privateer entries (you can call them and base them whatever/wherever you want, as long as it isn't absurd) here.
Sponsors
- Sponsors provide money in three tiers in return for goals being achieved.
- Each team has one sponsor with three goals, Tier 1 goals offering the most money (and are the hardest to achieve) and Tier 3 goals offer the least money (and are the easiest to achieve).
- You may only target one tier at a time, even if your choices fulfill all three tiers. This must be stated.
- Some privateer teams have sponsors, but some do not.
- More information is provided on the Sponsors tab of the spreadsheet.
So check the sponsor tab on the spreadsheet (it won't immediately be there but it will be eventually) and define your sponsor goals in this format:

Re: 1976 European F2 Championship - Team Assignments
Not here to enter a team (really not a good time for me to be doing so), but would like to suggest some alternate race titles so we don't have any standardised and soulless "x venue F2 Race". I think it's known by now how much I hate seeing that type of thing from the series I run.
So anyway, I would suggest the following names:
4. Festspielpreis der Stadt Salzburg
6. Rhein-Pokalrennen
8. Gran Premio di Mugello
10. Grande Premio do Estoril
11. Grote Prijs van Limborg
13. Preis von Baden-Württemberg und Hessen
aaand back to work. Or sleep might be better at this stage...

Re: 1976 European F2 Championship - Chassis/engines, private
Driver signing (May or may not be stolen from Alt-F3000)
Requirements:
Drivers must have:
- competed in less than 10 F1 Grands Prix, and have finished no higher than 4th at any point.
- have competed in any official F2 or F3 championship before.
Signing process:
You may make offers for up to FIVE drivers per seat. There are three types of contract terms you may offer to a driver.
Contract: You may offer a driver a wage to join your team; this must be between £20k-£100k per season (or £2k-£8k per race). You may pay the driver per race, or pay his seasons fee immediately. If you wish to terminate the agreement with a contracted driver, you must pay the rest of the agreed time off with him. Wages will be counted towards the nearest £500 per race.
For example, Driver A signs with a team for 12 Races at £2k per race. Having been sacked after 6 races, the team must pay off the remaining six. You can offer a driver fewer races per season, but it becomes more difficult to re-sign the driver if you wish for them to complete any more races. If you choose to pay the driver per race, but cannot afford to do so at any point, you must pay double at the next race event. If you still default on payments, the driver may leave the team.
A driver views a contracted drive as first priority.
Pay-driver: You offer the driver a seat, but the driver must bring a budget with them. The less successful a driver in previous formulae, the more likely they are to bring a larger budget with them. The amount of budget a driver brings will be generated through RNG after drivers have been signed by teams. The team can request that the driver pays per race or per season, but if a driver is sacked mid-way through the season then the team must pay back the equivalent sponsorship value per race. Sponsorship RNGs offer values of £40k per season to £160k per season, in £20k increments (the value generated can be divided by 12 for a race-by-race payment value.), with weightings based on driver success.
For example, Driver B signs for a team and pays for the season up-front. Having been sacked after 6 races, the team must pay back the value of (sponsorship value/12)x6.
Due to increased job security, a driver views a pay-driver option as second priority. Drivers will not entertain this option if offered a contracted drive.
Non-contract: A driver may also sign for a team on non-contract terms. You do not have to pay the driver or request that they bring a budget, and you can replace them at any time. However, other teams can make offers to non-contract drivers mid-season should they impress.
Due to low job security, a driver views a non-contract option as a final resort. Drivers will not entertain this option if offered a contracted drive or pay-drive.
Please fill out the form below:
Final note: you may not be in debt at the end of this signing process. You may change bids, but everything is locked in at 18:00 GMT on Saturday, June 9th.
