Autosport wrote:Blundell to go racing in Japan for remainder of the year

Madgwick driver Mark Blundell is going to depart Formula 3000 for the remainder of the year. The british driver has been signed by Nissan's work team for the remainder All Japan Sports Prototype Car Endurance Championship rounds to be held this year, replacing the injured Masahiro Hasemi seat alongside Anders Olofsson in #24 R89C prepared by NISMO.

Blundell thanked the team for all its hard work, but currently he puts his Formula One dream on hold to take on Japan, and next year, Le Mans. A return to F3K part time next year is not out of the question for Blundell he claims.

In other words: Beekhuis goes into the #9 car, while we attempt to sign Gianni Morbidelli as a paydriver for the rest of the year on the #10.

Rejectsport wrote:David James to make F3000 debut for Onyx

Ahead of the 4th F3000 Birmingham Superprix, the embattled Onyx squad has finally announced a second driver to partner Japanese Hiro Matsushita, after Emanuele Naspetti departed the team after the 4th round of the season. The driver is the unknown David James, who reportedly has been quite competitive in Formula Ford as well as a few select Formula 3 races. With both cars being fielded for the first time since Naspetti left the team 3 races ago, the round at Birmingham could prove vital for getting Onyx's initially promising season back on track, if James is capable of living up to the hype.

Autosport wrote:Formula 3000 racer banned by UK Motorsport authorities for two years

Formula 3000 racer David James has been given a two year ban by the Motor Sports Association, after it was discovered he was racing under a forged licence. The 14 year old, who's real identity is karting sensation James Davies was found to have lied about his name and age when applying for his licence before the Birmingham Superprix a few weeks ago

Despite the harsh sanction by MSA, Formula 3000 organisers have declined to put similar sanctions on the young driver, stating that punishment from MSA was enough, and he had shown himself capable of handling a high-horsepower, high-grip racing car despite his tender age. The incident has also put the future of the Birmingham Superprix into doubt, as the MSA are threatening to revoke sanction for any future Interntional Formula 3000 event in the UK.

Yeah, blame Oreca for that one

Didier Artzet
1-80 - Accepts the drive and gets the budget together
81-100 - Backer falls through
52
4 - He'll bring £10,000 to Madgewick for the two races. Gianni Morbidelli has been refunded £20,000 for the two races he doesn't run

Budgets have now been updated accordingly
