Grand Prix Automobile de Monaco - the rel is sorta fixed

Qualifying
Image

Race
Image
DOTR: Alessandro Nannini. Fighting drive in the Arrows only stopped by unfortunate failure.
ROTR: Lapped cars. Andrea De Cesaris and Piercarlo Ghinzani ruined an entertaining battle for the lead with their failure to move out of the way.

Qualifying saw Alessandro Nannini take pole position in his Arrows, ahead of the Williams duo of Prost and Mansell. The other Arrows of Rosberg was 4th, with Brabham looking relatively strong on a track where they were expected to struggle. There wasn't many surprises elsewhere, aside from the poor performance of McLaren, Senna and Warwick only lining up on the 7th row on the grid, and at the back, Satoru Nakajima and Luis-Perez Sala failing to qualify, the Spaniard having not yet started a race in his AGS this year. At the start Nannini kept his lead, and what ensued was a several-car train behind him that lasted for over half of the race. Elsewhere, Derek Warwick was collected in the midfield chaos on the first lap, which knocked off his front wing and required a pit, which dropped him down to last place, with a lot of work to do. Early on Jonathan Palmer was out, his transmission not being up to the job. The award for the first error of the race, a few laps later, went to Ivan Capelli, who spun his Zakspeed on the approach to Mirabeau, then stalled it. Even though the German team have allegedly brought an upgraded engine to this race, this might be the wrong way to demonstrate it. Later on, we saw Christian Danner have a suspension failure in his Benetton, and subsequently crash out and give his team yet another repair bill. Then, after both Lolas had failures, Rene Arnoux clumsily overtook Gerhard Berger for 8th, though he almost ended both of their afternoons. Then, the backmarker chaos started. Nannini came up to lap Andrea De Cesaris, and the Minardi driver caused chaos. Due to his general ineptitude in dealing with being lapped, he split up the pack, and in the process destroyed the battle for the lead. The pitstop phase followed, and De Cesaris was finally lapped, although this was something of a false dawn, as one incompetent Italian backmarker lead directly onto another, as Piercarlo Ghinzani in his Osella came to be lapped. He managed to be even worse than De Cesaris, and managed to send Michele Alboreto straight into the wall at Massenet, causing his Ferrari to be completely written off in the process. As punishment Ghinzani had a puncture a few laps later, but then the field had to deal with another challenge. Monte Carlo's brutal attrition had begun to set in, and it would take several frontrunners as victim. The Brabhams of Boutsen and Johansson were first to go, all the more disappointing considering they were comfortably in the points at the time. Then, even more cruelly, Alessandro Nannini had his transmission fail on him whilst he was leading, with his rapidly blistering Pirelli tyres making the performance more impressive. Towards the end, Rene Arnoux and Derek Warwick tangled at the back of the field, both having to make pitstops (in Warwick's case, two) to rectify issues with the car. Then, with only 6 laps to go, Nigel Mansell's car gave up, with the final result being his Williams teammate Alain Prost winning the race, and Ayrton Senna finishing 2nd. Gerhard Berger finished 3rd and set the fastest lap, and Lotus netted their first points finish since Brazil, with Nelson Piquet leading Elio De Angelis home in 4th and 5th. Keke Rosberg gave Arrows minor consolation by finishing 6th, with Philippe Alliot looking like a podium contender, but faded in the final laps to end up 7th. Mike Thackwell got his first finish in 8th, with Alain Ferte giving AGS their first ever finish with 9th. Mansell was classified 10th, whilst Riccardo Patrese finished 11th for Zakspeed.

Damage Report
Christian Danner - Benetton B186/3 - £190,000

All previously standing damage remains.

Upgrades are allowed to be made, in the same format and with the same areas as before.

Upgrades after Round 4

Different upgrade post format, same stuff. Let's see how this works.

Tyrrell

Code: Select all

Drag loss of 1 point (Drag = 7 > Drag = 6). Cost was £900,000

AGS

Code: Select all

Weight loss of 4kg (Weight = 680kg > Weight = 676kg). Cost was £600,000.
Mechanical Grip increase of 48 points (Grip = 13773 > Grip = 13821). Cost was £700,000

Budgets should all be updated.

Small note: if you want to replace a driver at any point during the season, then either drop me a message on the forum PM service or on the chat, or post it directly on the thread, then I will provide you with the service that you need.

Autosport wrote:Zakspeed to go speed dating?

Autosport has learned from several sources, that Erich Zakowski, boss of German F1 team Zakspeed, is not happy with Riccardo Patrese's latest performances. Patrese, former GP winner and team's no. 1 driver, has been slower than his rookie teammate Ivan Capelli in recent GP qualifyings. Even though Patrese has given Zakspeed their best season result by finishing fifth at San Marino GP, a reliable source has revealed, that Zakowski was very unhappy, when Patrese was beaten by Osella's Teo Fabi in that GP.

When asked, both Zakowsky and Patrese denied all rumors. Ivan Capelli commented; "I'm naturally happy, that I've been faster than my teammate. It has been my goal and if team decides to give me new teammate, I'll beat him too."

Sources have also informed Autosport, that Zakowski is not pleased having a full-Italian driver line-up. It is rumored, that Zakowski is keen to find a driver preferably from Germany.

Even though Patrese is listed in upcoming Detroit GP entry list, dark shadows lurk over his future. Several drivers have seen Zakspeed leap up the ladder this season and are interested to drive the car if Patrese is indeed sacked.

Autosport has also received information, that team's aggressive engine development program, which has clearly given team more fighting edge, has also hampered team's bank account. Autosport understands, that in order to secure more funds into development, Zakspeed team is looking to partner up for 1987 season. Whether this means a re-badge deal with car manufacturer or customer deal with other team, is very uncertain.

In the meantime, another engine token, please.
