Now I know what you're thinking, why have I put three cans of delicious Rich Energy™ on the top of this thread? And the answer to that is because that is the grand prize to be given to the winner of the Predicament Predictions championship in 2019! Sorry about the lateness of this, folks - Christmas and job and everything took up my time, and I'm only now returning from the swamp of home (read: North Scotland) to dish these out.
But yes, provided by my good friend
You-Gee-Eee-Day, who procured these over last summer, we now have "a crate" of Rich Energy™ to give to our lucky winner.
So who shall get it? Let's see.
So we were in Abu Dhabi, and the results gave us a runaway winner on double-points, that being
Pacific 777, taking their second win this season. Having missed much of the first half of the season,
Pacific has zoomed up the order with a late-season surge. But yeah, you've probably already zoomed right past this and seen the rest of the results, so I'll get straight to it. In a super result that didn't require any double points,
RAK made a stonking performance to get 20 points out of the whole weekend. And you can guess what that means. His nearest contender by less than a point was
dr-baker, and unfortunately things just didn't work out in the predicting front for the doctor, leaving him with only 11 points. And that means of course, that our Predicament Predictions Champion in 2019 is RAK! Two years running now, it was at the end a sizeable gap of around 8 points, which is a bit more comfortable than it otherwise has been the previous few races.
Here are the results!
Results1. Pacific 777 32**
2. RAK 20
3. CaptainGetz12 18
- mario 185. ElBerto 16
6. Fetzie 15
7. yannicksamlad 13
8. CarloSpace 12*
9. dr-baker 11
10. Bleu 10
11. Rob Dylan 8
*Funniest alternative race title
**Used double pointsSo overall, what do we think? It's a big shame for
dr-baker, because that is now two years running that he has led the championship for a considerable amount of time (12 races!), but lost it at the end. I'm sure with his predicting skills he will win it in one day, but for this year he is runner-up. Then again, his position is better than last year, where he had finished 4th.
Third on the podium in the overall standings is a newbie since I have been hosting this competition:
Fetzie! Having done a solid one race in 2018, they remained a dark horse all of this past season, with only one win and the rest of the season mostly out of the podium and just getting the points. And that just shows how important consistency is as much as getting the wins.
All three of the top three shall be getting messages from me soon to receive their prizes.
So how else can I sum up?
Bleu was the funniest of you lot, getting four bonus points this season for their alternative race titles.
CaptainGetz12 got three race wins, as many as our champion, though one of theirs was with by far the lowest I've ever seen for points: nine! That was in Germany, where basically nobody could have accurately predicted what happened then. But the captain got the closest! 2017 Predicament Predictions champion
mario finished fifth with another respectable score, whilst
ElBerto got the highest number of wins of anyone: four! Also, I looked it up and I have no records of
ElBerto taking part in any previous seasons of Predicament Predictions. This means that they finished fourth in their debut season, so good bloody job!
