Autosport wrote:Walkinshaw furious over poor condition of Lagos circuit
TWR Volkswagen team principal Tom Walkinshaw has blasted the state of Lagos International Circuit, reserving particular ire for the quality of the track surface.
The WTCM Round of Africa, having been heavily promoted and subsidised by the Nigerian government, has drawn heavy criticism from several involved actors in the sport, ranging from fears over personnel security, questions over the poor perceived organisation of the event, and concerns over human rights abuses. TWR Volkswagen struggled at the event, with neither car managing to escape the pre-qualification heats.
"The entire place is a complete joke," Walkinshaw raged. "The asphalt's so bloody brittle that chunks of it were flying over the pit wall, every time the cars passed by. The rain was essentially washing the track away - Steve and Paul were telling us that they were coming across new potholes after every lap, entire sections just being flooded out."
"And that's without getting into the utter shambles everywhere else - lavatories were disgusting, you had kids sneaking through gaps in the walls, ripping out the fencing. We even lost about £5,000 worth of spares - one or our vans got stopped by some army people, our guys got forced out at gunpoint, and the bastards ran off with the parts. I'd thought São Paulo was bad, but it's practically paradise compared with this hellscape."
"I'm just happy that I got out of the country intact, but the weekend was a complete embarrassment for WTCM. We should never have raced there in the first place, and if the organisers have any sense, we won't be heading back in a jiffy."

Re: 1991 WTCM - Upgrade results posted!
So, some updates on this, and what essentially is happening: I did run Donington (which results you can find on the wiki) but those results will be nullfilied and the weekend will be re-run.
Here's what happened: while editing the aero files for the car, I did some mistake that I couldn't trace and completelly screwed the game mechanics (which is why Ford were suddenly so fast at Donington). I imagine this came from a fix I had to apply to the AI at Lagos.
Now, I finally did trace the mistakes, and fixed them. Which is why there's a couple of things to note:
#1: if you go to the budgets excel, you will see some budget changes. This is because I removed testing from the game. I remove all of the benefits that teams got from testing from the game files, and gave the teams back the money.
This is due to time constraints on my behalf, I can't run testing. What happens is that now, test drivers give bonus on upgrades. This bonus can be used up to 3 times a season (more details on first post). There's also a limit per season: 10 upgrades per season maximum in total. Also more details in the first post, and I advise everyone involved in this series to re-read the rules to see what was happening.
Also, a new grip system is introduced: in the car stats, you will see that there's 4 new columns added. This is how aerodynamics will work in this game from now on, and the overall and aerodynamic upgrades will influence this.
So, yeah, any doubts, please post here.

Re: 1991 WTCM - Upgrade results posted!
is it possible to enter The WTCM at the re-run donnington race using my created team, autosport Mannschaft Gelsenkirchen?
Re: 1991 WTCM - Upgrade results posted!
We would like to offer a new Opel Vectra to AMG for the fixed price of £27,500
Note: While it looks very silly at first glance, we are indeed talking about Autosport Mannschaft Gelsenkirchen and not Mercedes-AMG

Autosport Mannschaft gelsenkirchen was formed in 1962,at the WSRC, so as far as team owner danick Hübsches-Herz is concerned, AMG are the ripoffs!
Anyways, just so we can have a decent budget to work with, we will enter all remaining races in europe this year. We also accept opel's offer, and gladly take two opel vectras please
Autosport Mannschaft gelsenkirchen (GER)
Vehicle: Opel Vectra
number of Cars: 2
Rounds: 5-12
Team numbers : 800 and 801
Driver bids to follow after we get more info on our budget

Not at Donington, but you can enter the remaining rounds except at Italy, since the startlist is full. Is that ok?
So, essentially, it would be: Rounds: 6-7, 9-13

125.000 for a start. Take whatever you paid for the Opel's (though a team called AMG running Vectra's is.... weird ahahaa) out of it and you have what's left for the drivers.

yeah, at first, when I first started at the 1962 WSRC series by nuppiz, I wanted to play AMG, but it was actually founded in 1967, so I came up with a new name based on the initial. and, since I'm a schalke fan, I came up with that. besides, like I said, my team was born first, so the other AMG's a ripoff!

depends... is he any good? what's he done since his 1984 DTM win?
Re: 1991 WTCM - Upgrade results posted!
Strycek is pretty much an Opel factory driver and wasn't too far off Bernd Schneider's pace last year

He will have to miss Brno, Anderstorp and Spa Francorchamps. Need you to bid for a driver to do those races (he'll have the same wage as Bartels, don't worry).

French veteran Gabriel Château would be very interested in taking Bartels' place.

Autosport wrote:BMW confused by lack of Donington pace
After a disappointing showing for the works Schnitzer outfit BMW Motorsport are set for a full scale review into what was the cause of the missing performance at the British venue. This comes after championship contender Marc Hessel failed to make the final grid for the main Endurance event and the team fell championship leaders to 31 points behind Vauxhall.
Despite this Independent driver Silvio Bachot seemed unaffected compared to the works outfit qualifying only 0.124 seconds off pole, a full second in front of Johnny Cecotto.
Recent rule changes have also likely affected the team banning the practice of in season test sessions which was believed to have been proposed by Vauxhall to reduce costs of the sport.

If you don't get either of the drivers above, Japanese businessman and occasional touring car driver Satoru Maka, who has so far scored 4pts in this year's independent's championship, is available (and brings money, albeit from slightly dubious sources)

FISA have announced changes to the ballast system currently in use by the World Touring Car Masters. The changes have come in response to the criticism employed by BMW after the Donington weeekend.
FISA president Jean-Marie Balestre was quoted as saying: "We reveiced complaints from BMW and other teams who remained to stay anonymous that the ballast was seriously affecting the handling of their cars. The Super Tourer ruling is still fairly fresh, and we're learning as we go along. We had a meeting after Donington, and decided to push through we the changes."
The new ballast system applied will be the following:
1st - 60kg
2nd - 50kg
3rd - 40kg
4th - 30kg
5th - 25kg
6th - 20kg
7th - 15kg
8th - 10kg
Success ballast will still be applied with championship positions in mind. No team has commented yet on the changes.

Re: 1991 WTCM - Pau posted! Upgrades until the 25th April.
mein gott,Volker was on fire this week-end! shame that he had his gearbox fail him, cause that was a very good performance from him, way better than we expected! sad that Michael didn't qualify, but we'll give him a pass since he lacks experience a bit in touring cars. let's hope that herr danner will put our second car through the pre qualifying at the next round!
EDIT: hey, wait a minute, why am I in the red? I thought I had a decent amount of money left when I calculated? 35,000 $, to be exact.

"Drivers have a minimum wage of £5,000 per round." It's written in the rules post.
If you make quick accounts on the money you put, you aren't obliging to that condition unless the money you put on each driver was per round - in this case, 20k for Strycek and 15k for Bartels/Danner.
I can allow you to fix this as long as you obey the 5k per round limit.

yeah, I made a mistake. I thought that you pay the wage at the driver signing and that's it. I didn't realise you have to pay at every round sorry.

I'm going to put the follow (considering this essentially a penalty, but more lenient). Since Danner is an established star, I'm going to leave him at the normal 15k.
Strycek, on the other hand, will be at 10k per round and Bartels the base 5k.
This is going to put you at -59.000. Is that ok? It's fairly recuperable.

Miguel98 wrote:So, some updates on this, and what essentially is happening: I did run Donington (which results you can find on the wiki) but those results will be nullfilied and the weekend will be re-run.
Will upgrades still cost the same to perform? Granted my team will end the season in debt so I can't afford to spend much

honestly, at this point, I might just race the team at the German round only. I didn't think this through (then again, I never do. stupid old me and my ADD...). it'd be better for AMG's survival that I only race at the German round. we'll only concentrate on DTM and whatever cost-friendly racing series there is afterwards.

Yes! Upgrades still cost the same, but remember that you can only upgrade if you're turning a profit
