FIA Prototype Challenge Press Report wrote:Bentley Beat BMW to Win in Austria
The 4 Hours of Austria were the event the struggling Team Bentley was looking forward the most, as their car could demonstrate its top speed advantage. However, qualfiying belonged to Jean-Vincent Albertini. The Monegasque racer nailed his qualfiying lap to take his first pole position in his FIA Prototype Challenge career and the first for BMW Efficiency Dynamics JLD Motorsport.
However, Asim Adhikari made it their mission to haunt the BMW driver. Albertini's work did not get easier when his running mate Laurindo Coelho took himself and Jenson Button out of the running a bit more than 20 minutes into the race in a desperate attempt to keep fourth position. In the end, Adhikari managed to hammer in a couple of FLAPs near the end of the fourth stint, coming out on top after the stop.
The order at the top was confirmed when John Farano, who was sitting in a great seventh place, completely misjudged the speed in Rauch corner, running out of track and hitting the barrier with four minutes left on the clock. The race concluded behind the safety car, allowing Adhikari to take his first win of the year with Albertini behind him in his first finish of the season, some relief for the seemingly unlucky driver.
In the championship fight, Ricardo Llosa and Ron Mignolet both were trying to just get as many points as they could get today, Llosa having the edge thanks to great fuel management and a quick team order. Sandra Yoo also got rewarded for fuel efficiency, she managed to get away with one stop less than the rest of the field like the McLarens, but she would've run out of fuel without the SC phase according to Team Bentley.
