Formula Manager 2000 - The Reboot

Post by Forti »

It is with great pleasure that I can announce that FM2000 is back.
The game has been rebalanced with altered rules, prices, and things like that.
As this is a fresh start, teams are not guaranteed to be ran by the same users as before.

Take a look at these:
Series spreadsheet: (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0)
Rules: (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M9X ... fb87M/edit).

Go ahead and officially claim your team on this thread! You have until 00:00 UTC on the 1st of June.

Having crushed the opposition with Ferrari last time around, I shall pick a different team this time (plus Aislabie already took Ferrari).

Benetton for me please.

Formula Manager 2000 - 3 Teams Available, Game Starting Very Soon

Post by Forti »

The game is going to begin in about a day or so, and there are three teams available.

Sauber F1 Team are coming off of another average season. They may not have the most money, but have an established connections with Red Bull and Petronas, who are viable long term partners. Staying with Red Bull also grants them control over Red Bull’s junior drivers.

British American Racing enters with low expectations after being absolutely humbled in their horrendous 1999 rookie campaign. Backers BAT are willing to pay high amounts for achieving relatively easy goals in comparison to the demands of rival sponsors for the same amount. They also have deep connections to Jacques Villeneuve, and he’s bound to rejoin them.

Honda Racing F1 Team is a new works team under the eye of tech director Harvey Postelthwaite, whose health issues were threatening the entire project from continuing. He’s made it here though, and with a high budget and successful tests last year, expectations are high for a strong rookie year.

I posted this with former FM2000 managers Getz, Hermann, Dom, Shawn, and Takagi in mind. If you’d like to return (or join for the first time) then please go ahead and claim your team on the thread. If you’re too late then you’ll end up on the waiting list.

Formula Manager 2000 - Sponsors & Engine Availability

Post by Forti »

That was quick! Looks like we're into our first pre-season decision: sponsors.

The Sponsor Rules (from the rulebook)
When signing a sponsor, you must specify which Deal (A-E, or 5-1 stars) you intend to aim for.
Sponsor money is paid up-front to help your team as soon as you sign your sponsor.
Should you fail to achieve your sponsor goal over the course of the season, you will have to repay the sponsor and it will greatly hurt your chances of signing with them again the following season.
Sponsors higher up on the list will also avoid sponsor-carneying (see Zakspeed with Marlboro and Monteverdi with Canon in Scrub Era) by backmarkers.
Sponsor criteria that requires hiring specific drivers will only be fulfilled if that driver is in an F1 race (not reserve) seat.
To encourage long-term partnerships, sponsors will give a 10% bonus if you stick with them for each year you are with them past the first year of sponsorship.
If a sponsor goal is failed, but you manage to keep working with them, the bonus is reset back to zero.
Manufacturers, McLaren, and Williams cannot rename their teams as part of sponsor deals.
All RNGs will use Aislabie’s First-Choice-First™ system.

Follow this example:
Team: (team name)
Bid 1: Moneytron (Deal A/5 stars)
Bid 2: Rich Energy (Deal B/4 stars)
Bid 3: Andrea Moda (Deal C/3 stars)

Additionally, we need to hear from the manufacturers regarding the availability of their engines:

Ferrari: 049 (1 available by default, required to be used by Ferrari), 048 (1 available by default)
Honda: RA000E (1 available by default, required to be used by Honda)
Jaguar: Cosworth CR-2 (1 available by default, required to be ran by Jaguar), Cosworth CR-1 (2 available by default), Ford VJM2 (1 available by default)

Teams can distribute up to three sets of each engine, and will profit half of the cost for every purchase by a customer team. Manufacturers can also remove the availability of their engines entirely to customers.

You have until 19:00 UTC on the 5th of June to bring in driver bids and determine engine availability. Just waiting on Honda (Takagi) and Jordan (CarloSpace). Driver and sponsor RNGs will be done together once the driver signing has been completed.

Bollocks, sorry Forti, it’s been a bank holiday weekend here and I’ve not been in any state to check the forum! Fully understand if you’ve RNG’ed some bids for me, but I can have something up in 20 minutes if that’s okay?

Ninja edit if it’s allowed, disregard if not!

Honda bids:

Warsteiner (C)
HSBC (C)
Orange (D)

We’d be happy to supply BAR with engines for 2000 - no rebadging, and for the first year no conditions attached to engine supply.

Formula Manager 2000 - Driver Signing

You're on time actually, no RNGs have been done yet. Your engine availability has been noted on the spreadsheet.

Anyway, it is time to sign your F1 drivers.

Refer to this section (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M9X ... qn36p3pew7) of the rules for F1 driver signing. You will need 2 drivers and a reserve as well. Specify how long their contract is (up to 2002), otherwise the bid will be defaulted to one year.

For now, you will be bidding for F1 drivers only. Any Formula 2 driver signings will be done after the first RNG (sponsors and drivers) of the series.

Lastly, you may notice that you all have an extra million in your team budget. This was done for purposes of balancing the game, as suggested by CarloSpace.

Go bid for your drivers, using this example:
Team: (Team Name)
Driver 1
Bid 1: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Bid 2: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Bid 3: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Driver 2
Bid 1: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Bid 2: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Bid 3: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Reserve Driver
Bid 1: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Bid 2: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)
Bid 3: Firstname Lastname (put their yearly salary here, or PD if they are a pay driver, contract length)

You have until 0:00 UTC on the 9th of June, otherwise your bids may end up getting autopiloted.
