Colin Davis or at least he would be were it not for winning the 1964 Targa Florio.
Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
Until he was mentioned in this article (no he wasn't in the top 10!):

I had forgotten Brendon Hartley.

I posted about Felipe Massa earlier which, thinking about him, reminded me of the forgettable Felipe Nasr.

Who on earth could forget about Felipe Nasr?

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
I only remember because of the similarities of the names of Nasr and Massa...

There was a time when "Paul di Resta driving for Williams in 2017" was a pub quiz answer that would have stumped me. Now it's Paul di Resta's entire F1 career if I'm being honest. I guess, as I don't follow any of the pre- or post-race content, I never see him, so without his constant presence on my television screen I have lost almost all memory of when he was a driver.

That’s what reminded me. If he walked past me in the street I wouldn’t recognise him. Can’t even remember who he drove for, was it Sauber?

Yes, 2 seasons apparently!

Ralph Firman Jr. Having a posh accent and famous Dad (in racing circles) just wasn't enough.
Speaking of which, it won't be long before we've forgotten about Jolyon Palmer too.

I had forgotten Jean-Eric Vergne when I saw a clip from 2014 and saw a "VER" on the running order and thought to myself "but Max Verstappen didn't start until 2015"!!!!

I just saw an article about Nigel Stepney online and the photo was two McLaren drivers, Hamilton and.......I knew his face but I genuinely couldn't remember his name for about two minutes.

I forget that Bruno Senna drove for any other team but Williams.
I forget that Jacques Villeneuve raced for both Renault and Sauber.

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
I have to admit that Giedo van der Garde had completely escaped my mind before I looked back in this thread.
He's probably remembered more for the Sauber contract dispute then actually being in a F1 car.

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
That is absolutely the Wurz feeling, when you realise you had forgotten him.
But how could you forget this?

Not to mention his wheel-banging match with the older Schumacher brother at the previous race in Monaco and his resultant suspension-failure-induced crash in the tunnel.

Desmond T. is my go-to for ultra-British sounding upper-class drivers. I don't know if he was upper-class, but he sounds like he was. I can still hear in my head Enoch pronouncing his name on the old podcast.

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
Kyvat honestly might be one of the more forgettable drivers to race at least 6 full seasons. As I said on the Discord, he very much feels like a placeholder character in the story of Max Verstappen.
I cant think of anyone else in recent years who drove that many races to be as forgotten. Though someone did mention Kovalainen earlier in this thread who I think had a similar career curve.

Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
To me Kovalainen was a poor man's Bottas. Their careers were remarkably similar but Kovy's was in a shorter timeframe.
Stage 1: Outperform a more experienced race-winner in a once-great but now upper-midfield team.
Stage 2: Be Hamilton's designated wingman after Hamilton had a fractious relationship with his former equal #1 teammate who in both cases had to leave the team
Stage 3: Have to try and help up a backmarker team (after being replaced as Hamilton's teammate by another British driver!)

Pascal Wehrlein and Felipe Nasr. Not entirely forgettable, just names I'd forgotten.
Re: Most Forgettable Drivers
That Spanish Toro Rosso driver who went on to be a DJ, Jamie Algesuaris?
Edit - Jaime Alguersuari. Also known by his stage name of "Squire" (cue condescending titter).
Wow, Id also forgotten when he debuted he was then the youngest F1 driver since Thackwell. Golly.

That’s an Alberto Crespo vibe right there. He nearly qualified for his only race, I’ll give him that.Har1MAS1415 wrote: ↑17 Nov 2024, 22:22Swiss driver, drove an HWM in his home GP in 1953, finished 9th.
