I bring yet another alternative championship. This time, we'll recreate every F1 season so far...but only qualified reject drivers are eligible. I'll follow the scoring system of every year (though I won't award points for fastest laps as the records are quite inaccurate). I won't count the Indy 500, as I think it's another kind of competition altogether. The results for 1950 can be found in my other alternative championship thread (Johnny Claes won).
Now, the results for 1951:

2-time rejects champion, 2-time mediocrity award winner, HUZZAH!
No wonder I renamed the mediocrity awards after him.

I'm sorry but people that doesn't qualify for a GP can't score, as you can guess
So far, this years are being shaky to say the least, but I'm sure when we arrive to the 80s and 90s this'll be good read indeed
Let's continue, then:
1958
1-H. Gould-8
2-M. de Filippis-8
OK, if Horace Gould wins this one is because he scored sooner than Maria de Filippis. You can see, poor reliability and the fact no reject drivers contested all the championship means we got results like this: only two classified drivers! Now how rejectful can this be?
1959
1-I. Burguess-14
2-F. D'Orey-8
3-A. Stacey-8
4-M. Araujo de Cabral-8
5-C. Davis-8
6-H. Blanchard-8
7-C. Bristow-6
8-P. Ashdown-4
9-I. Bueb-3
1960
1-R. Larreta-8
2-B. Halford-8
3-D. Piper-8
4-E. Barth-8
5-C. Daigh-8
6-G. Munaron-8
7-R. Bonomi-6
8-I. Burguess-6
9-B. Naylor-6
10-P. Drogo-6
11-P. Lovely-6
12-W. Seidel-4
13-B. Drake-4
14-N. Estefano-3
15-F. Gamble-3
Re: The F1 World Championship...for Rejects
I can't wait till you get to the 80s for this. I'm just reading this at the moment and thinking "Who?"!!
(Kind of a reason why I started my alternative championship in the 70s and only started posting the results from 1981 as it produced a different champion than the other similar Alternative championship!)

Re: The F1 World Championship...for Rejects
Actually, it's Ian Burgess, not Ian Burguess.

I think he guessed the spelling of Burgess. (Horrible pun intended)

Re: The F1 World Championship...for Rejects
At the end of this, it would be interesting to find out which rejects are still rejects in this alternate championships (obviously the rejects who never qualifyed ever in the first place like Bernie Ecclestone, Davina Galica and Giovanna Amati would remain rejects).

It's very easy to avoid rejectdom since usually very few drivers get to finish races.

The (belated) results from 1971-1973.
1971
1-N. Galli-28

3-G. van Lennep-9
4-F. Mazet-9
5-D. Hobbs-9
6-G. Eaton-6
7-J. Cannon-4
1972
1-M. Beuttler-39
2-D. Walker-34 (this was close, if Walker had won he'd be certainly the first and only driver to be crowned champion of the F1 Championship for Rejects while his team-mate wins the WDC )
3-H. Märko-33 (he seemed to have it wrapped up, until his accident in France).
4-N. Galli-9

2-G. van Lennep-18
3-D. Purley-18
4-N. Galli-15
5-R. von Opel-15
6-L. Bueno-6
For the next updates, I'll have to skip to...well, to 1996, because the other results are in my parents' home, which I won't be in for a bit of time. Now that's rejectful, I guess.

It does get better than this...
1998
1-S. Nakano-82
2-T. Takagi-64
3-J. Magnussen-30
4-E. Tuero-25
5-R. Rosset-18
Shinji Nakano deserved a better shot in F1 (no, really). His results were not shabby and with a good car and more time he could have been a very competent driver. What if he got the Jordan drive in 1999 instead of Damon "Idontgiveashite" Hill?
1999
1-L. Badoer-60 (surprise, I guess)
2-A. Zanardi-56
3-T. Takagi-36
So, poor Zanardi bows out without ever winning this title. I can't believe how unlucky is this guy.

I've taken it upon myself to revive this, so here's all the post-2006 seasons. I also calculated 1978-88, but I won't continue to 1995 if Phoenix still already has all those results somewhere.
