Part of the MotorsTV review of the 1976 season. Usually concentrates on action of the main contenders (a given in that sort of season), but there are some rejectful glimpses:

17:33 - Larry Perkins
20:30 - Alex Ribeiro
22:40 - Noritake Takahara on track (just) and at 22:50 in the pits, with what seems to be all 4 members of the Kojima team.

Plus, at 23:11 we get a cameo from Masami Kuwashima!

Future F1 Reject, Eric van de Poele, crashes at Enna in F3000, 1989. His crash is not the reason to watch, though, it's what happens afterwards...

I know the AGS JH23B, the carry-over of the 1988 model into 1989, had no airbox, and the 1990 flat-topped JH25 did, but trying to find pictures of the JH24 that only ever qualified once in Yannick Dalmas' hands at Interlagos in 1990 (its last ever race...) was a trial. Forix turned up nothing, which usually has every car ever raced on it in every livery... some obscure sites came up with the goods, though.

It reminds me, in a strange way, of being a first year undergrad. The chemistry department at Cambridge has the largest lecture theatre anywhere in the UK - it's more like the Albert Hall with revolving blackboards at the back. During the course on thermodynamics, not exactly the most inspiring of subjects, some students had taken to throwing paper aeroplanes at the hapless lecturer. Most landed in the crowd somewhere. One, which I think was one of those "perfect gliders" (not just your usual fold-it-a-few-times jobs), flew so well that it caught the attention of everyone in the cavernous lecture theatre, as it glided gracefully downwards, and made a perfect landing that a 747 pilot would be proud of on the OHP as the lecturer was writing on it. You could try throwing that plane a thousand times again from the same spot (quite a way back) and it would never land anywhere near the OHP ever again. I think that's probably the highlight of my entire first degree.

And that is pretty much the only thing the Canberra street circuit is remembered for.

As I have written on the Reject birthday thread (even though it's not a birthday), today marks exactly 20 years since Pedro Matos Chaves first drove a Formula 1 car competitively. It was a pathetic Coloni C4, and I think we all know how that turned out.

Here's the man himself, many years later, driving a Renaultsport Mégane RS.

And if anyone finds any footage of Pedro driving the Coloni, slow it down and superimpose it over this soundtrack... and you know the bit I mean. It's at about 2:19... I think I know now why our favourite Portuguese reject is almost always referred to with his middle name intact.

I also want to remind you all of this video that Aerond posted earlier in the thread, even though this car was originally driven (to equally minimal effect) by Pedro's replacement, Naoki Hattori.

You know what sparked this? I saw a couple of bottles of Mateus Rosé in the wine aisle while wandering through Sainsbury's earlier today, and I immediately thought of Pedro, and how sometime this month it would be the 20th anniversary of his first drive in the Coloni. I looked on Forix and it turned out to be today. I had to make the post.

The first clip of this 1991 crash compilation shows Pedro Chaves crashing his Coloni - aptly enough, at Phoenix, exactly 20 years ago. It was the first corner of his first ever F1 out-lap.

I've got an idea spinning through my head... compile the Petrov incidents into one video, with the Tetris music playing in the background, and every time he crashes, make the noise that happens when a line is completed.

Trying to make a single video of all Andrea de Cesaris' crashes, on the other hand, would break the internet. So I don't suggest it.
