Alain Prost took victory at Spa after a race long battle with his old rival Ayrton Senna, who drove brilliantly in the Arrows. Pierluigi Martini had a quiet drive and inherited third when Mansell and Capelli took each out seven laps from home and then Alesi and Piquet did the same two laps later. Érik Comas was another who had a quiet afternoon, but scores some welcome points for Benetton. Heinz-Harald Frentzen put in another impressive drive for Ligier to pick up two points and the final point went to Christian Danner who overtook Panis on the last corner.

Jean Alesi will start from pole position for McLaren after beating Thierry Boutsen's Williams by a hundredth of a second. Race - Portugal
Jean Alesi moves into the lead of the Championship with a commanding victory, with Boutsen having to settle for second and Nelson Piquet making it a double podium for Williams. Ayrton Senna brought his Arrows home in fourth, with Patrese fifth for Tyrrell and the final point going to JJ Lehto in the Lola after a great drive and Martini's bad luck with reliability.

Wat
I'm real happy with this result, although a major fluke and ended in 2 blown engines, it is pleasing to see them in a race.
I believe we're now safe from the last places.

Don't worry about the frequency of updates, post when you have time for it :D

Qualifiying - Spain

Alain Prost was untouchable round the new Circuit de Catalunya, taking pole by four tenths for Ferrari. Joining him on the front row is his title challenger, Jean Alesi in the McLaren, with the second McLaren of Mika Hakkinen just two thousandths off his team-mate in third. Fourth went to reigning champion, Gerhard Berger for Benetton. Fifth was, Nigel Mansell in the Dallara and sixth was Johnny Herbert in the Ferrari. At the back, it was once again Perry McCarthy's Ligier and Giovanna Amati's Lambo that won't be with us tomorrow.

Race - Spain

Alain Prost took a dominant victory in Spain, never looking troubled all race, even before Alesi's retirement. After his team-mates retirement, Mika Hakkinen inherited second and managed to hold off a charging Nelson Piquet in the last laps, with Nelson having to settle for the last step on the podium. Ivan Capelli produce a magnificent drive to claim fourth for Minardi with Thierry Boutsen having a pretty mediocre race to fifth. Olivier Panis came home with the last point for Ligier, just holding off Senna, who made a strange pitstop three laps before the end.

Qualifiying - Japan

Jean Alesi took pole for the Japanese Grand Prix in his McLaren, as he attempts to close the gap to Alain Prost in the championship. Joining him on the front row is Gerhard Berger in the Benetton with Prost lining up third. Completing the second row is the second McLaren, driven by Mika Hakkinen. Ayrton Senna will line up fifth in the Arrows, alongside Nelson Piquet in the lead of the Williams. At the back of the field, Alex Caffi fails to make the grid in the Lola, and he is unsurprisingly joined on the sidelines by Gregor Foitek in the Onyx.
