Re: Driver Market + Update Plans
First things first: as I have been requested to extend the deadline a bit, I hereby request all offers to be ready by June 4, 4:20 a.m. CEST. Should your team have not made offers by that point, I will make offers in your stead.
Secondly, as I failed to explicitly note this not being allowed, wages with six digits are permitted for this season. Offers like €X50,000 will be rounded up, however. Furthermore, any multi-year deal will see the driver's wage bumped to €1,000,000 for the following season.
Please also note that there is no non-negotiable wage. The sum as listed will be the entire wage offered. Furthermore, please consider that competent drivers will be expecting wages like these.
In accordance with rule §5.6.a, I hereby modify the following offers to fictional drivers:
Ferrari's offer to Salvatore Miccoli will have a wage of €2,500,000
Toyota's offer to James James Davies will have a wage of €2,000,000
Theodore's offers to Jordan Davies and Einar Ármannsson will have their clauses replaced with a €5,000,000 bonus should the team finish inside the Top 11 of the WCC in 2020.

Information regarding sponsorship regions: Daniel Melrose has gotten German citizenship due to having in-character spend sufficient time living in Germany. This means that from 2020 onwards, he is a driver satisfying the region Central & Southern Europe and no longer satisfying the region Pacific Ocean.

RejectSport wrote:Melrose to become Dual Citizen
Formula One superstar Daniel Melrose has officially confirmed that he has become a German citizen in the lead-up to the 2020 Formula One season. The former world champion has been living in Munich and Cologne since 2011, the year he became a team owner in the Formula One Rejects World Race Series. It's believed Melrose will retain his Australian citizenship as well, making him a dual citizen of both countries.
"Germany has been my home for many years of my career, and I'm grateful for the opportunities this country has given me to live my racing dream," said Melrose at a citizenship ceremony in Munich. "It wasn't a decision I made lightly, but I felt it was the right decision to make at this stage of my career. Australia will always be a big part of my life, but Germany is now my spiritual and physical home, and this will reflect that."
It's believed the decision was made after leaving the Ferrari team at the end of last year in order to improve his chances of claiming a top-line Formula One drive. While it's unknown where he'll end up this year, it's believed he's in negotiations with at least one team to remain on the grid for the upcoming season.
AutoFiction wrote:THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL: Australian hero turns back on his country
Australia was left in shock today with the announcement that homegrown motor racing legend Daniel Melrose has become a dual citizen with Germany. While the official announcement declared that it was a decision not made lightly and that it was the 'right thing to do', AutoFiction believes something more sinister is afoot.
It's been no secret that Melrose has been struggling to find a drive since leaving Ferrari at the end of last year, and some cynics suggest that this nothing more than a ploy to help him find a drive for this year. Curiously, it's understood that he'll only use his new German race licence for all FIA-sanctioned categories, retaining his Australian licence for other categories such as the IndyCar Series and the AutoReject World Series. AutoFiction wants to believe that it's a decision Daniel made with his heart, but the evidence just doesn't stack up.

SniffPetrol wrote:Unemployed F1 driver becomes 'citizen of the world'
Unemployed Formula 1 pedaller Biggs-Ackov Kash today announced he is officially a 'citizen of the world', infuriating exactly three people from his home nation.
Kash was withdrawn from his seat at that team you always forget exists, and in his quest to bring in new sponsors and buy his way into another F1 seat, has unofficially become an official 'citizen of the world'.
"I feel a great attachment to the world and all it has given me, and at this stage in my career, it felt like the right time to make such a frivolous decision that nobody gives a toss about," he said.
"Being a citizen of the world has been a long-held dream of mine. It has nothing to do with being told I didn't fit the required geographic market for a team I am in contract negotiations with."
Biggs-Ackov Kash has been connected to the Ferrari left vacant by a departing Daniel Melrose. Melrose left the team last month to pursue a full-time career as a professional passport collector.

The FIA and Formula One Management have recently publicized a tender for F1 tyre supplier for the 2022 to 2026 seasons. Whilst wheel widths are to remain the same, the wheel diameter is to extend to 22-inch. According to a source inside the FIA, this is supposed to appease current manufacturer Continental who is looking to switch F1's exclusive tyre supply to the Hoosier Racing Tire brand and considers changing wheel diameter crucial to properly represent the brand, which has supplied tyres to NASCAR and SCCA-sanctioned series before, in international racing.
However, they are not the only company with an interest in returning to the sport. Michelin are also currently considering a return to the sport they left at the end of the 2006 season. The FIA will check all offers handed in by 1 September, 2020 and decide at the end of that month. The tender does offer the option of multiple manufacturers being permitted to supply tyres with a note implying severe testing limitations should more than one offer be accepted. Furthermore, the tender states that the manufacturer is expected to provide three different types of dry tyres (with goal to have 0-1 stops each race) and wet tyres (intermediate, rain and monsoon).
www.f1rumours.net wrote:Achille Lunardi Wants Points for Top 3 Only
In a pre-race segment for Sport Klub, the Formula One Management chairman Achille Lunardi has stated a desire to reduce the number of drivers that should get championship points at the end of a Grand Prix. "Really, only the best should score, I think it would be best if only the podium guys scored ... top 5 at most," he commented.
Ever since 2010, the top 10 finishers of a Grand Prix have earned championship points. Lunardi wants to check whether such a change would be accepted by the teams and "of course most importantly by our fan base". He doesn't expect any change "until 2022 at the earliest", since the current prize money structure is closely tied to the points finishers.
A more realistic outcome is that F1 returns to the top 8-based system used in F1 from 2003 to 2009. Early drafts which were made available to Sport Klub propose either a points system of 15-10-8-6-4-3-2-1 or 25-15-10-8-6-4-2-1, both obviously designed to promote a winning culture and discourage settling for second place when first place is available.

According to rumours in Spanish newspapers, Red Bull are looking to change their lineups for the Bahrain Grand Prix onwards. The team, which currently announced yet another management shuffle is also said to look at different options to replace Mike Rockenfeller at the earliest opportunity.
The German Le Mans winner has apparentely fallen out of favour with the Red Bull company as his opening races were poor performances in a car that is the best that Red Bull has built in years. Daniel Melrose winning in Argentina supposedly tipped the scale against Rockenfeller with management.
The reports state that Rockenfeller is to be fired and replaced by the new driver until Harrison Newey enters the final six races, at which point Newey and Melrose, who will receive a contract extension in this scenario and is linked to some team sponsors, would see out the rest of the 2020 season.
Apparentely, the Red Bull shortlist consists of three names, all of which have been part of the Red Bull driver program in the past: the two preferred options are Carlos Sainz, Jr. and Sébastien Buemi; should neither be available, RBR will look to buy BR Mansell driver coach Mikhail Aleshin out of his contract.

In a guest lecture at Oxford Brookes, famous Ferrari lead designer Aldo Costa has talked about the new hydrogen fuel cell motors Formula One has introduced at the start of the 2020 season. In said lecture, he explained the fact that the differences between the suppliers are hard to notice with a belief that the motors are "virtually single-spec".
According to Costa, as the power units were introduced on horrifically short notice, designers were forced to go with conventional solutions and (poorly) imitate an existing system, Toyota's TFCS/F1. He also expressed his belief that the 2021 models will show more variation, as more data and other options are available and there will be more development time.

www.f1rumours.net wrote:Lunardi Accuses Caterham of Ignoring Sports' Interest
In a comment on a Youtube mini-documentary on Lewis Hamilton's success at the Turkish Grand Prix, which will soon see its 20th edition, the chairman of Formula One Management, Italian Achille Lunardi, accused Caterham of failing to watch out for the sports best interests in letting Lewis Hamilton, who currently is out of the sport, go at the end of the 2019 season.
He claimed that not offering a contract extension to "one of the most brightest stars in recent F1 history" is a failure of Caterham, who gave up on "this beautiful dream team" too early. While Lando Norris, his replacement at the CWG-owned team, has had a brilliant start to his F1 career, Lunardi doubts that Norris will be able to fill in the enormous shoes of Hamilton's popularity with international crowds.
This is not the first time Lunardi has antagonized the Caterham team, claiming that Caterham team principal Edouard Martel has disrespected him for his professional background. Lewis Hamilton himself posted an Instagram clip in which he states that he has deep respect for Lunardi, claiming that the Italian will "clean up" and that he is able to recognise the true value of F1 and F1 drivers, "unlike many in the sport."

In a press statement, the International Speedway Corporation announced that the Corporation has reached an agreement with Formula One Management and sponsors Globex Corporation to bring a second Grand Prix to the United States: beginning with the 2023 season, the Globex Grand Prix of Florida will be held in the early part of the season at the venue which opened in 1995.
"We are pleased to have reached this agreement. Homestead–Miami Speedway will now host major events in pretty much most major racing series," the City Manager of Homestead expressed in a quote, "which will significantly improve the touristic quality of the region." The track already is home to the NASCAR season finale and an IndyCar oval race, the Fuzzy's Ultra Premium Vodka Indy 300.
There were no comments on the precise track layout that Formula One will come to use. The Grand Prix of Florida is expected to replace the Brazilian Grand Prix, as both the Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba and the Autódromo Internacional Orlando Moura have seperately declared no interest in extending the race-sharing deal that runs out after the 2022 season.
www.f1rumours.net wrote:2020 Could See Last German Grand Prix
According to experts within the German racing scene, the 2020 German Grand Prix could be the last running of the prestigious event for this generation. Whilst the Nürburgring is a highly popular venue with fans and drivers, the event is barely able to break even in good years, when the weather is unfavourable, o nthe other hand, ticket sales plummet and the venue operates at a severe loss.
As the German government runs a strict austerity policy with the stated goal of breaking even, tax investments in the GP are out of the question. Due to abovementioned issues, no other venue is likely to replace the Green Hell: Motorsport Arena Oschersleben has already ruled out negotations with Formula One Management and the former host, the EuroSpeedway Lausitz has become a testing-only venue.
When asked about these developments by German media, a FOM PR representative commented: "We are currently working on a new contract [editor's note: the current contract runs out at the end of this season] with the track owners and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. We obviously want to keep the German Grand Prix on the calendar and are looking into a possible solution that will serve both sides".
www.f1rumours.net wrote:Mick Schumacher to Debut With Sauber
According to Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung, the German talent Mick Schumacher will debut in the 2021 season with Sauber F1 Team. The son of the German world champion, whose health status still remains a mystery, is said to replace Pastor Maldonado who is considering retirement after the end of this season, despite having signed a two-year contract in February 2020.
Mick, who has had a decent start to his second season in the FIA Formula 2 World Championship, is believed to have both significant talent and a strong appeal to German sponsors. Sauber are, according to the article, looking to sign younger drivers, as they expect their slight slump of form to continue for the next two to three seasons, hoping to train talents so that they are ready once Sauber can contend again.
Neither Mick Schumacher nor Pastor Maldonado were currently available for comment. However, a close friend of Pastor Maldonado responded to the rumours by saying that "Pastor is not even considering retirement right now", claiming that last year's world champion is looking to race with Sauber "until he turns 40", which would not be before the start of the 2025 Formula One season.

A spokesperson for the Commonwealth Group delivered an unprecedented censure of FOM chairman Achille Lunardi in an afternoon press conference today, in response to Lunardi's comments surrounding the circumstances of Lewis Hamilton's exit from Caterham at the end of the 2019 season. Whilst relations between Caterham and Lunardi have been strained from the moment of the Italian's ascession, Autosport understands that Lunardi's capricious management style and lack of tact has now begun to aggravate even Commonwealth Group chairman Sir Alec Palmerston.
"Mr. Lunardi's wholly unsolicited commentary concerning the internal affairs of the Caterham F1 Team, one of the most successful outfits in Grand Prix history, betrays the dearth of propriety and professionalism that has been characteristic of his person, and explicitly apparent from the start of his tenure", said the spokesperson. "His statements have, invariably, raised serious questions concerning the viability of FOM as a reliable and objective broker between the teams and the FIA."
Daily Mail wrote:EXCLUSIVE: FOM Staff Bypassing Barmy Boss!
Anonymous sources from within Formula One Management have exclusively revealed to the Daily Mail that FOM Chairman Achille Lunardi is widely regarded as incompetent by teams and FOM employees alike, and that FOM staff have been actively excluding him from the decision-making loop for months.
"I don't really know who hired him, to be honest, or why", said our source, a senior FOM staff figure. "All I know is that he spends most of his time doing piss all, or indulging in antagonising a certain FTSE 100 company that also happens to be one of the largest investors in the sport. It's an unwritten rule around the offices that any sensitive documents are to be 'accidentally' left off his desk, and that any serious correspondence with the teams, or the FIA, are held with him left out of the loop."
"He's a complete fool, really. He's trying to be Bernie without possessing even a bit of the magic that Bernie had. We're all really just sitting on our hands, waiting for him to be gone and for things to go back to normal."

Autosport wrote:Krautmeir: "New Bianchi Deal by Summer"
Precision team boss Jeroen Krautmeir believes that negotiations for Jules Bianchi's new contract should be swift and be concluded by the summer break. The comments came off the back of Jules securing back-to-back wins in Cleveland and Bahrain to consolidate his early lead in the championship.
"Jules is a once in a generation talent, and we've lucky to have had him in the family since day one," said Krautmeir after the race. "We love working with him both on and off the track, and we don't see us changing for the foreseeable future. We haven't officially started negotiations yet, but we expect a new deal to be finalised by the summer for 2021 and beyond."
While talks are yet to begin, it's highly expected that the next deal will be a long-term deal for Bianchi with the team. A source in India have claimed the deal could be up to five or six seasons, however it's believed that a three year deal is more likely.

La Gazzetta dello Sprort wrote:Bianchi; Obiettivo di mercato Ferrari
There is a thief in the back room. The valued possession? Jules Bianchi. The victim? Precision Motorsport. The perpetrator? Ferrari.
Team manager Giovanni Roda is plotting to bring Bianchi back into the fold of his former team, a product of the Ferrari Driver Academy stable many years ago.
Now, with Ferrari's satisfaction of Dave Cassidy - intended to be their title protagonist this year - at an all-time low, they have targeted Bianchi, his contract expiring this season.
There were reports in the previous silly season that Ferrari tried to buy Bianchi out of his contract. But now, with no need to pay off Precision, it's suddenly not so silly.
Ferrari have two free seats this season, as Cassidy's two year year deal expires. So too does the one year deal of Miccoli, though he is Roda's favoured son and likely to stay, even if he can't keep Cassidy behind in the classification all season.
