When? Who? What? Where?

Post by BorderReiver »

Hello Everyone

I thought I'd introduce this fun little game I've played in other motorsports forums here.

It's really very simple, and hopefully alot of fun.

Basically each round, I will put up 7 pictures of Formula One cars and their drivers in action. All you have to do is guess What year the picture was taken, who the driver is, what the car is, and where the race is.

The first 6 photos will be one from each decade of the F1 World Championship, and the 7th will be a bonus round which can be from any year.

As is only fitting with racing, speed is of the essence, so the first person to identify any part of the pictures correctly will receive the points for that question and after that nobody else can receive the point.

For example if the picture shows 2002, Michael Schumacher, Ferrari, France, and the first player to reply thinks it's 2004, Michael Schumacher, Ferrari, Germany. He will receive two points for Schumacher and Ferrari, even if people after him also guess Schumacher and Ferrari (they will of course score a point if they're the first to get the year or race right).

The catch is, you can only make 1 guess, so if you make it too quickly and don't get as much right as you can, you'll lose out . . . however wait too long and . . .

And be advised! Editting your answers after posting them is poor form, and if I catch anyone doing it they'll be banned! So watch it! :x

Though obviously you're all very honourable people and the thought never occured to you!

Each competition will last 48 hours from the midnight (UK time) following the posting of the pictures. So, in this case you'll have until midnight on Friday 5th of June to get your guesses in. Then the points will be calculated and the next round posted. At the end of 10 rounds the person with the most points will be champion. :D

Seem straightforeward enough?

Good.

Well on with Round 1 then.

4. (1980s)

Please put your answers in the Format.

Year, Driver, Car, Race

Best of luck to you all, you have 48 hours from midnight tonight (UK Summer Time)

Well you have some points, I won't say how many, but there are plenty left up for grabs!

Oh and you don't need to bother with specific car models, just the teams will do. :)

Thankyou for your guesses lads. You've both scored points too.

Between the three of you you've accounted for 20/28 answers, so well done, not to shabby.

Just to keep things closer I've decided to award 2 points to the first correct answer and 1 point for correct guesses that duplicate a previously given correct answer. So it's still in your best interests to answer first if you can, but you won't be too badly penalized if you're not the quickest out there.

Hopefully that'll make things a bit more competetive.

Just to give you all a little more info.

Two of the pictures have been completely solved, and all the others have been at least 1/2 worked out.

I can't add much more but for the sake of points I'll have a go anyways
1. 1959, Phil Hill, Ferrari, Reims
2. 1963 Graham Hill, BRM, Zandvoort (pretty unanimous desision)
3. 1974, Jackie Ickx, Lotus, Jamara (Agains pretty unanimous)
4. Late 1980s (Going with 87 or 88), Gehard Berger,Ferrari, Pheonix
5. 1994, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Sauber, Suzuka (Again unanimous)
6. 2005, Jacques Villeneuve, Sauber, Sepang
7. 1969, John Surtees, BRM, SIlverstone (Again unanimous)

Overall a pretty good concept but some of the pictures are a little easy. Maybe pictures with more than 1 car and whoever guesses all the cars and drivers in the picture correctly gets double points for that picture.
