At least next year looks interesting now with all 6 drivers from the top 3 teams out and I see no reason for that pecking order to change unless Ferrari have another shocker. If there's a similar pecking order then I'd put Norris, Ocon as favourites and possibly their teammates depending on how quick they can get up to speed, maybe DrVries if he impresses at Alpha Tauri.

The only excitement is whether Russell breaks Leclerc's win record. Without DNFs, I'm expecting that to happen.

I'm predicting Norris for next year – after being runner-up three years in a row (I'm not expecting Ocon to overtake him in the next two races), his championship is long overdue. Piastri is my second favorite, though that could end up going completely wrong.

After a difficult start to 2023, McLaren had a much better day with Norris finishing second and Piastri taking his first career podium in third. An intra-Alpine championship against Lance Stroll, I must say, must be among the least inspiring fights for the championship I have ever seen on this thread! I would honestly prefer Tsunoda to be a dark horse and steal the championship at the last minute.

Those were more by consistency than anything else – Grosjean lost a lot of points due to his crashes (including his ban, 8 times not classified to Hülkenberg's 2) and Verstappen due to reliability problems (7 times not classified to Pérez's 1).

In Canada, Ocon takes his third win of the season. Stroll is classified second and Piastri third after a five-second penalty dropped Norris to fifth. Surprisingly, fastest lap was set by eighth-placed Magnussen.

Despite everything, Stroll is looking strong (but maybe not as strong as he should) at the moment! I'd imagine Norris will have a chance in the future... But for now, he's this championship's version of Stirling Moss.

Having more than half the field eliminated is mental but I guess part of the reason for that is teams seemingly preferring experienced drivers like Haas and now Alpha Tauri. Indeed of the bottom 4 teams, all of them have a driver eliminated with Albon and Bottas completing the group.

Fascinating too just how quickly Alpine's early challenge has evaporated considering Gasly was leading the championship for a time. When we look back, Norris winning this won't seem controversial or out of the ordinary, but in context it's incredible how he turned this around, and I'm guessing will be elimination champion at the next round or so.

In some seasons (I guess a bit like 2023 in real life), the most exciting thing is how many wins exactly one driver can take. 20 would be a new record, breaking Russell's 18 from last year.

When we look back, Norris winning this won't seem controversial or out of the ordinary, but in context it's incredible how he turned this around, and I'm guessing will be elimination champion at the next round or so.

So did that end up happening?


Norris had the chance to clinch the title in Mexico, and he ended up doing just that by winning from 6th on the grid, setting the fastest lap on the way. Piastri gets closer to third in the championship after another second place. Ocon finishes third ahead of team mate Gasly.

Nice to see Norris finally getting the title after those 2nd places.
Next year should be interesting, or maybe it'll just be a Piastri walkover.

In the Sao Paulo sprint race, Norris takes yet another win. Tsunoda finishes second and Piastri third.

The Grand Prix sees Norris take his tenth win of the season, along with another fastest lap. Maybe Stroll will be able to hold on to third in the championship after all – he finishes second, while Piastri is down in seventh after a first-lap crash. Gasly gets third place.

This could be down to 8 cars next year unless Red Bull fire Checo so Lawson goes in the Alpha Tauri instead of Danny Ric! (If it stays as per current contracts then Alpine will be the only team with 2 cars).
