Champion elimination alternative championship
Champion elimination alternative championship
It has been felt that it's boring that same drivers are winning over and over. Therefore the decision is that all previous world champions have been removed from the results. This is being done from the beginning. 1950 season is as usual but from 1951 season Giuseppe Farina is removed.
Early seasons had also two other changes
- Data on fastest laps was mostly not complete, so no point is awarded.
- In shared drivers, if one driver is former champion and other not, non-champion gets full points for that position.
- Dropped scores result as it was in that season.
So here we go, 1951 season!
Juan Manuel Fangio 28 points (3 wins, 2 2nds)
Alberto Ascari 28 points (3 wins)
Jose Froilan Gonzalez 24 points (1 win)
Luigi Villoresi 17 points (1 2nd)
Piero Taruffi 10 points (1 2nd)
Lee Wallard 8 points (1 win)
Mike Nazaruk 6 points (1 2nd)
Emmanuel de Graffenried 5 points (1 4th)
Reg Parnell 5 points (1 4th)
Luigi Fagioli 4 points (1 win)
Louis Rosier 4 points (1 3rd)
Consalvo Sanesi 4 points (1 3rd)
Yves Giraud-Cabantous 3 points (1 4th)
Andy Linden 3 points (1 4th)
Jack McGrath 2 points (1 3rd)
Manny Ayulo 2 points (1 3rd)
Louis Chiron 2 points (1 5th)
Andre Pilette 2 points (1 5th)
Bobby Ball 2 points (1 5th)
The end result was quite confusing. Only four best result count and without those dropped scores, Ascari would have won. In the races that counted, he had three wins agains two of Fangio. But, Fangio had one shared one with Fagioli so he had three in total. With more 2nd places, he won the title.
I've done most of these actually, just going to reveal one or two every weekday from now on.
1952 season next, without Farina again. Fangio didn't drive in that season anyway due to injury.

When you're done with this, I'd love to see the results of this backward. In other words, you forfeit your former championships to keep your current one.

This was the championship that Collins deserved. It was a shame he never really had another chance to win the actual championship after 1956.

By the way, the whole had to drop a place thing also happened in 1988, where Prost scored more points than Senna, but to drop some, leaving Senna the win.

I'm really interested in the 2000s, when Schumacher dominated. He's probably going to get his title in 1994 or 1995, leaving five or six orphaned titles.

Having taken a quick look at the tables, I'd guess at Schumacher winning in 1992! This will be very interesting to follow - keep up the good work Bleu.
