F1 Supercars

Post by the Masked Lapwing »

Alternative championship time!
This one is basically F1 that uses the 2011 V8 Supercars points system (150-138-129-120-111-102-96-90-84-78-72, then in three point increments until 18 for 29th, with squat for a DNF). With a twist. In all races, from Britain 1950 to Canada 2011 (with the exception of each Monaco GP, the Bathurst of F1), a certain V8 regulation will be used - the 105% rule. Yes, 105%. And I'm being strict - all backmarkers, no matter how close they were and disregarding practice all together, who were outside 105% do not qualify. For example, D'Ambrosio at Canada (for that matter, Glock and the HRTs as well...). For Monaco, it'll be 107%, like at Bathurst and Phillip Island in the V8s. Also, a driver must make the finish to score points. Even if they retire on the last lap, they get nothing. To start with, 2011:

1st: Sebastian Vettel - 1026
2nd: Jenson Button - 870
3rd: Mark Webber - 867
4th: Lewis Hamilton - 738
5th: Fernando Alonso - 696
6th: Nick Heidfeld - 543
7th: Kamui Kobayashi - 537
8th: Nico Rosberg - 531
9th: Sebastien Buemi - 522
10th: Vitaly Petrov - 486
11th: Felipe Massa - 483
12th: Michael Schumacher - 465
13th: Adrian Sutil - 444
14th: Paul di Resta - 366
= 15th: Rubens Barrichello - 348 (2 9ths)
= 15th: Jarno Trulli - 348 (3 13ths)
17th: Jaime Alguersuari - 339
18th: Heikki Kovalainen - 228
19th: Sergio Perez - 201
20th: Pastor Maldonado - 165
21st: Jerome D'Ambrosio - 150
= 22nd: Timo Glock - 99 (1 16th, 1 21st)
= 22nd: Vitantonio Liuzzi - 99 (1 16th, 2 22nds)
24th: Pedro de la Rosa - 69
25th: Narain Karthikeyan - 54

If the FIA gives someone dispensation to race after they didn't set a time, then I'll let them take part, so Kobayashi and Heidfeld are in, and I also let HRT off at Monaco. While the HRTs obviously don't get in at Australia, neither do the Virgins. Karthikeyan misses out at Malaysia, both HRTs are out in China, just Karthikeyan again at Turkey, and both HRTs and both Virgins at Spain and Canada. By rights Karthikeyan should still be on a flat zero, but the FIA can be kind sometimes. Up front, Webber is right behind Button, and 3 points is nothing in this system. Trulli benefits from Liuzzi, Glock and D'Ambrosio not being at Canada to take another 13th. And Maldonado... wow. If the 105% didn't apply, then he'd only be beating de la Rosa.

1st: Red Bull-Renault - 1893
2nd: McLaren-Mercedes - 1608
3rd: Ferrari - 1179
4th: Renault - 1029
5th: Mercedes - 996
6th: Toro Rosso-Ferrari - 861
7th: Force India-Mercedes - 810
8th: Sauber-Ferrari - 807
9th: Lotus-Renault - 567
10th: Williams-Cosworth - 513
11th: Virgin-Cosworth - 249
12th: HRT-Cosworth - 153

Sauber gets hurt by their DSQ at Australia and Perez's injury at Monaco, Toro Rosso somehow jump up the tables, and Williams are hurt by having Maldonado.

I might do 2010 next, it should be very interesting to see where Vettel ends up.
