In other news, Tony Gilham's team has gone full circle. He's taken back the VWs he built back in 2013. :D

The BTCC definitely needs a kamikaze Japanese driver with limited English language skills. I don't care how slow he is, if he gets a drive my support is 100% behind him.

He raced in the Ginetta GT Cup last season in the amateur class and well, Colin White comfortably beat him to the class championship despite missing two meetings. He certainly wouldn't be an improvement on Matt Simpson for instance.

So, either IHG have pulled their sponsorship of Goff's car, or Tordoff's decided to call it quits and stick to the day job. No matter how much Biscione wants him gone, Collard's going to be at WSR until the end of time. ;)

Come to think of it, there is one positive that may come of the Jordan WSR deal- a Pirtek liveried BMW, (especially in the metallic blue they used on the Ford) could look brilliant!

Two big pieces of BTCC news this afternoon. Firstly, Sam Tordoff is leaving the series. That's a blow to the BTCC and WSR. Maybe he'll be back in the future, as he's only 27.

I believe JCT600 were subsidising part of Collard's budget this season as well, so at least one, and maybe two BMW seats have opened up. Several rumours suggest that Plato has managed to get Turkington sacked from BMR :| , and that Turks will return home to WSR, but he'll need a big sponsor to do so. The return of RAC orange maybe?

Secondly, Team Dynamics will be wheeling out their third Civic again, as Matt Simpson has inked a deal for 2017. He'll at least be better than the bloke* who was in the car for Brands in April.

*(said bloke has apparently been perma-banned from BTCC after failing to cough up the money he promised TD...)

Tordoff out and Jordan in one of those BMWs instead - no, definitely not liking that. If Collard goes as well, even more so.

Plato not liking a competitive team mate? Well, that's never happened before! Oh no...wait...it has, at EVERY TEAM HE'S DRIVEN FOR.

Simpson was downright awful at times last year - admittedly nowhere near Neate levels - maybe he will benefit from being under the Team Dynamics banner though.

Shame. I met him in the paddock at Thruxton last year, not long after seeing him race in the ELMS in the JMW Ferrari and we were joking about the incident at the end of the race. It's not a surprise to me though as he did say in an interview on ITV that this season might be his last as IIRC I think he said that he wanted to focus more on the family business, JCT600.

Plato can literally do one if he managed to get Turks sacked. As in he'll be permanently my least favourite driver anywhere. :x

Matt Simpson is at least an upgrade on Neate but still a complete waste of a good car. He showed absolutely nothing this season. Though this opens up that spot at Speedworks for Kawashima. :D

My thoughts exactly. If he wants it guaranteed that he has an uncompetitive teammate, he can go to a back-of-the-grid team.

Vauxhall are back! Only it looks like the modern kind of works deal. The kinda-sorta-but-not-really works backed team. Anyway they will be running a pair of Astras with Power Maxed. I'll miss the Chevys though.

http://www.btcccrazy.co.uk/category/btcc/

Also the picture shows a #17 in the window. Either a reference to 2017 or Dave Newsham back fulltime? Which he has said he'd like to do after he subbed for Andy Sugden. :D

Jordan also completed his first test for WSR today.

Didn't see that one coming- is it possible that a top driver displaced by WSR or BMR (Turkington/ Goff / Collard) could jump ship in the hope that they can build the team around them, like with Jackson at Motor base?

I'm not a Vauxhall fan (and that Astra looks like a boy racer special...) but at least BTCC is attracting new makes. Unlike WTCC which on current form will have 1 left soon.

Ah yes, the WTCC, soon to be renamed the World Touring Honda championship.
Meanwhile the TCR series had its final race if the year in Macau. SPOILER ALERT. Stefano Comini defended his championship after a poor weekend from James Nash and a poor weekend of driving overall with CTCC drivers invited with their different regs and completely different driving styles. (namely much more crashing) It seemed only Monterio Comini and Vernay managed not to crash, (Comini doing a handbrake turn round Melco hairpin in a wet qualfying) however VW have announced this will be their main racing series. So will VW dominate in the future and ruin the seires? We shall see.

I see that WTCC have had their usual fanny around with the rules. MAC3 challenge now worth more points, but since no-one cares about that anyway they may as well have left it alone. Second race also worth more points - fair enough I suppose, if a little arbitrary.

However, they are going to introduce 'joker' laps at a couple of events. The WTCC website, in its usual genius way, reports this as being 'like they do in Rallycross'. Well.....for the 99.9% of the population who don't watch Rallycross (including myself) what the hell does this mean?

It means that on circuits that the overly aero-dependent, poorly-conceived WTCC cars can't overtake eachother (street circuits), there will be shortcuts on the track that can be used once every race, because that's a good substitute for genuine racing (as seen in almost all other TC series), right?

For joker laps to work they actually need to have some cars on the grid.

With the TBLs for 2017 having been allocated, there's a lot of BTCC news:

In a move that absolutely no one expected, BTC Racing are back, after being bought out by Power Maxed in 2014. Unfortunately, this means that we lose Dan Welch's team and Team BKR (which means Aron Smith is screwed again). Motorbase and AMD have both expanded by one car to three and two cars respectively however, so Smith could hopefully end up at either.

Interestingly Motorbase's third TBL is on loan from Welch. Wonder if Dan Welch driving the third car is part of the deal? They also have confirmed that they have a new title sponsor so looks like my theory on why Jordan and Pirtek had to leave was correct. :)

Also, chuffed to bits with Jordan going to WSR. Hopefully he can push on and challenge for title two.

That livery reminds me of the Scalextric sets of the 80s that would package up a couple of cars (eg Escort 3xis) from a previous set, stick a random livery on them that would usually be a household product of some sort and chuck them in a cheap set.

I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing....

Apparently Chilton's going to try and run a full season of WTCC alongside his BTCC ride, so that's going to be fun to watch. :pantano:

In other news, Dave Newsham's bagged the second BTC Norlin seat. Nice to see him back full-time, and it means he has the same car for the third consecutive year.

I can only guess Hunter Abbott and Andy Sugden aren't returning. A shame for Sugden, I guess he'll have to return to Emmerdale Farm and plough the fields, rather than ploughing the run-off areas...
