Re: Pacific Grand Prix's website
They must have paid their internet service provider for years and years in advance. I guess that was cheap back in 1994 or 95.

THE IMMORTAL WORDS OF DELETRAZ:
http://www.pacificgrandprix.com/aboutjd.html
"I am very happy to be returning to Formula One and we will work hard together to make this a competitive end to the season. Although the Pacific team is quite small, they have a lot of motivation and I think everyone knows that Keith Wiggins is determined to make strong progress in Formula One. For me it is a good opportunity to gain more Formula One experience, and to develop a programme which hopefully will lead to my participation in the 1996 Formula One World Championship."

This is great! The press releases are especially good. I mean where else would you find these headlines?
"MONTERMINI FINISHES DESPITE FIRST LAP INCIDENT"
"GACHOT PRODUCES GOOD FINISH FOR PACIFIC"
"JEAN-DENIS DELETRAZ (CH): Retired - severe cramp"
Also, apparently they were trying to finish, not do anything else.

I remember getting on to the Super Aguri website a while back. I couldn't get on it when I tried it today. It was at this address http://www.saf1.co.jp
This is the Honda website, not that many people would want to go on: http://www.hondaracingf1.com/fans.html

Can someone do one of the web searches where theowner of the domain is listed ? Maybe we can all club together and buy the domain on a 100 year lease to keep it "secure".

Hmm...it's provided by Hewlett-Packard...maybe they've got some Pacific fans there?

Re: Pacific Grand Prix's website
Presumably it's just sitting on some HP webspace somewhere, and has been quietly forgotten about by all concerned. I'm sure at some point they'll notice and wipe it off - unless of course it's being protected by a closet F1 fan somewhere in the company! Great that it still exists, though. A real piece of online archaeology!
Re: Pacific Grand Prix's website
Someone should mirror it somewhere.
Hmm... I have access to webspace, maybe I could do it... It doesn't seem to take up to much space...

It's one of the few things that has been left untouched in the time period since I've had the internet (1998).

This quote from the site says a lot:
35 people!
and here is the factory, packed with staff busily rushing about....
...no wait, its empty
Pacific Grand Prix currently employs 35 personnel and is expanding even further in readiness for the 1995 Formula One World Championship.

Re: Pacific Grand Prix's website
I cannot believe that Pacific's website is still up there after all this time!
I think the factory floor image just about sums things up though, especially since the text is all about the 1995 season, yet the the picture is of the old 1994 Pacific (or should I say Reynard) cars.
Still, in my view, their 1995 car wasn't all that bad, it was just very unreliable, due to a lack of resources and money, and was made to look very bad when Lavaggi, and in particular Deletraz (surely one of the slowest drivers ever to compete in F1), drove it. You certainly couldn't accuse Montermini and Gachot of being slouches. Gachot certainly performed solidly enough for Jordan in 1991 after all.

The jump in performance from 1994 to 95, considering their lack of budget, was pretty astronomical; with a bit more money they'd have given Simtek a run for their money. It's a shame both teams ran out of money, as Simtek vs Pacific vs Forti vs the 107% time would have made for a very interesting 1996!

I agree, and such a battle would have added an extra dimension to the 1996 season, which despite being quite dynamic at the front of the field, and including that Monaco Grand Prix, was rather a static season in other areas of the field.

Basically it looked like a basic 90s webpage, with words of hope for the Pacific team. Obviously now we can look back and laugh but thats the 90s for you.
To make up for the takedown of the website, I have put a picture of a poster i really want

Re: Pacific Grand Prix's website
Pacific Grand Prix, Gachot Profile:
"in 1994 he drove the team's Pacific-Ilmor PR01 at the 16 Grands Prix which comprised the World Championship. Despite the car's lack of competitiveness, Bertrand remained fully motivated throughout the season and worked tirelessly on the technical and commercial sides of the team".
That's one way to describe his 94' season...
