Argentina Race Results:

Weather: Clear and Dry

Image

Fastest Lap: Car 28 (IBR Ferrari - Roda/Voeckler) : 2:12.428

Results are still considered unofficial.

The Good:

*Dennis Mignolet simply would not allow lightning to strike twice for the 27 Ferrari. He was second on the road before the second round of pit stops and took a big gamble and was the first to pit by two laps over everyone else. Linari kept him in the car for the run to the finish. With the clean air and the fresh tires the Belgian put in a masterful drive which by the time pit stops cycled out gave him a healthy gap. But that was not the whole story. Mike Stern also drove like a man possessed in that last stint cutting down a 15 second gap and getting the lead five laps before the end. It appeared to be that the result that has looked so far away for the unstable Zonda was finally calling to them. But Mignolet had other plans, with the heartbreak at his home race deep in his mind. This time, he made the last lap pass happen as clean as it could have been considering how desperate Stern was. It is IBR's Maiden Victory in the GT-R WC and well worthy of the Drive of the Race.

*While it appeared that nerves had gotten the better of Chiara Rossi on Friday and Saturday, she put all those aside when the lights went Green on Sunday. In the first half a dozen laps, she had already gained ten positions through the general chaos at the start of the race and was able to keep plugging away and with a solid drive from Mattias Kjellerup later on earned them a 15th place result for their troubles.

The Bad:

*The San Luis circuit did not get any nicer once the race started. The exit kerbs have been a thorn in many drivers' sides throughout the weekend and that continued come Sunday. A notable victim was the Guest entry in JP Mazzacane and Gonzalo Solari. Solari got it too hot at the exit kerbs at T14 and had a nasty spin. Right as he got it going in the right direction the Gulf Saleen of Roland Davidson did not do any evasive action and ran square into the back of the Ferrari, eliminating both cars on the spot. The only other retiree because of the kerbs was the Luxray Viper who hit a kerb at Turn 12 which darted the car the other direction and square into a concrete barrier, eliminating them there as well.

*Another victim of a spin was the other Zonda, who got ran into by the 41 Ambrose-Milan car while recovering from a spin as well. Both cars would require to pit but the damage was done. A gearbox failure for the 31 Car would be about as merciful of a ending to their day as they can get. Most of the field had their moments of Woe, including Ricardo Llosa who spun while following the battle between Stern and Mignolet but managed to keep third place, and Darren Cardel who threw away a potential win with a spin on exit of Turn 17 before the second round of stops while following Jordan McKenna who lead at the time.

The Ugly:

*Those first laps were chaos. But the first victim did the most damage later in the race. The Kun 87 had to pit after the first lap to replace a Rear Wing that was lost at Turn 1 at the start, but John Bovy did not have the pace once he had clean air. And once everyone else pitted for the first time, he had about a dozen cars sitting behind him. Saying he looked out of his depth would be a understatement. The cars who were battling at the front before the first stops lost about 20 seconds to the Ponderous Kun 575. The damage was done to most parties, and while the racing was good John Bovy should have done the decent thing and comprehended what the field behind were doing. While it was for position, he had nothing to gain out of ruining half the field's race but the Reject Of The Race.

Rule Changes for 2017:

*The Porsche 911 GT2 will be removed from Homolgation List, with the Maserati MC12 GT1 being added to the Homologation List. The Full Homolgation List will be as follows:

Chrysler Viper GTS-R
Chevrolet Corvette C5.R
Ferrari 550 Maranello
Ferrari 575 GTC
Lister Storm
Pagani Zonda GR
Maserati MC12 GT1
Saleeen S7-R
Lamborghini Murciealago R-GT

*Pre-Qualifying will be introduced if the list of Full-Time Entries is above 30. All Independent Entries will partake in Pre-Q. Pre-Q consists of a Fifteen Minute Qualifying Session followed by a Thirty Minute Sprint race on Friday Morning/Mid-Day. The cars that finish in the bottom positions, however many cars above 30 are on the entry list, in the Race will not Pre-Qualify.

*Saturday Qualifying will be extended by Five Minutes, to Twenty Minutes.

*All Independent Entries must have one of their drivers be ranked Silver or Bronze at all times, in accordance to the ARFM/ACO Driver Rankings. No such restrictions exist for Factory or for Fly-Away Guest Entries. Failure to comply to this rule from Independent Entries will result in the Exclusion from Race Weekend(s).

*Each Individual car can only have a maximum of five drivers in races throughout the season. But each car can only have three driver role changes throughout the year, meaning you can change both the Starting and Second driver at the same juncture and it will only counts as one driver role change.

*There will be one Fly-Away Guest entry at each Asian and South American event, continuing the programme started at the end of this season. They will be ineligible for points and will not enter Pre-Qualifying.

This post will be updated if and when more rules are added.

GT-R WC 2016: Canada Penalties + Video

Post by RealRacingRoots »

Round of Canada Penalties:
Race Results are now considered official. Someone should get on updating the Points Tables on the wiki.

*Car 42 (Ambrose-Milan Ferrari 550) gets a 15 second penalty for an avoidable collision with Car 25 (Union Saver Corvette).

*Car 28 (IBR Ferrari 550) gets a 30 second penalty for an avoidable collision with Car 39 (Kjellerup Ferrari 550). F-M Voeckler has been given a suspended race ban in effect until the end of the season as he was one lap down after spinning off course and pitting for damage and not respecting the battle for the lead that was going on.

*Car 5 (Belgio Ferrari 550) gets a 30 second penalty for an avoidable collision with Car 67 (Puyo Puyo Lister). The penalty is 30 Seconds because Car 5 was trying to get it's lap back and blatantly spun the leader of the race to get their lap back. Kim-Jong Sung has been given a suspended race ban in effect until the end of the season.

Here's a link to the highlights video. Doing it in the A1GP Youtube Highlights style since 30 minute videos hurt my brain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ8cvo0e3fw

Brazil Practice Session Results:

Weather: Overcast and Dry ->Torrential Rain and Thunder -> Overcast and Wet Track

Whilst it was the track itself that caused trouble for a bunch of runners in Argentina, it was the sudden massive rain and thunderstorm that caught out a whole lot of people. There were a lot of cars struggling to keep it pointing the right way on their in lap with some cars going off as a result. It was a big rush for every one to get as much dry track running as possibly as weather forecasts say that rain will arrive in the last 30 minutes of the race. Before the rain came, the Kjellerup Ferrari and BITW Lambo suffered separate technical faults and stopped on track near the end of the dry running during Practice.

The JLD Saleen and Union Saver 25 are marked as blue because they stopped on track on the inside of the pit straight by the start/finish and couldn't be recovered since it was during the beginning of the massive storm.

Brazil Qualifying Session Results:

Weather: Heavy Cloud, spits of rain, but a dry track

Ricardo Llosa and Stefan Kuntz continue to put on a show in the 15 minute dash for Pole. Their first few laps were behind traffic but still well out in front of the pack. Once Llosa cleared his teammate KL Schultz,he was able to seal the deal whilst the German in the Lamborghini struggled to get past the Onyx Saleen for the duration of the session, but still had more than enough speed to secure second place, even with a failed attempt to get one flyer in with just seconds to go. After the latest rounds of Driver Shuffling at Rosenforth appeared to have worked leaving Argentina, the Zondas struggled for speed on exit in sector two and three forcing them to be in the middle of the hornet's nest come race day.

The 25 Factory Corvette suffered another technical fault on Saturday. A suspension failure on the long run up to the pit straight left KL Schultz slamming into the outside tire barrier before pit in near the end of the session. The Austrian walked away from the shunt, but the team will be forced to use the spare car come Sunday.

GT-R WC 2016: Late-Season Push

Post by RealRacingRoots »

Brazil Race Results:

Weather: Start: Heavy Cloud but Dry, some rain throughout race but nothing substantial, then Massive Rain storm late in the race

Image

Fastest Lap: Car 27 (IBR Ferrari - Modena/Mignolet) : 2:12.428

Results are still considered unofficial.

Doing the report team-by-team because I feel like it:

Union Saver Developments:
The 26 was there to pick up the pieces when the Sangari team Brazil Car blew up. The front-runners gained lots of time when other teams had woes in the pits. The 25 was mired in the midfield scrap for most of the day, and gained big time when everyone had to pit numerous times for different rain tires.

Rojo GT:
The 32 Rojo was in with a shout of the win the whole race. Was in the battle for the lead with the 27 IBR and 02 Solvalou for the duration of the dry running after the first stops but lost time behind the stranded Vittore 0 while it was stuck at pit in, surrendering the opportunity to win. The 15 was in the mid-field battle all day and didn't make much progress.

R.T Solvalou:
The 03 was in the scrap at the front of the field for the duration of the opening stint. But the tides turned with having to pit again to get the right tires as they pitted during a short rain shower. The 02 pitted early at this juncture and was the lone car to get free air after his stop. Molinaro and Fazio found themselves in the battle for the win in what was their best run of the season.

Rosenforth Engineering:
The pair of Zondas were stuck in the midfield battle behind the struggling Kun Ferrari. Atypically, one of them blew up. The other was there quietly getting the job done when other front runners dropped off and got rewarded with Fourth place.

Aeroracing Engineering:
The pair of independent Corvettes were stuck in the battle at the back of the pack for the duration of the race. However, the cars in that battle all pitted very late on both of the dry pit stops. And as it turns out, The 77 car went with Intermediates at the second round of stops when the rain storm showed up. The ploy worked wonders as the Spanish team got their best run since the 7's victory at Bathurst.

Gerald Pereia-Pan Asia Alliance:
The 20 car made pretty good progress from it's 24th starting position, ending up near the front of the battle behind the Kun 575 but never made much more ground afterwards. The 19 Car, was the last car to pit for anything that resembled wet tires when the storm came late in the race. The lead the 19 had by refusing to pit was gone like nothing with lapped cars and the Sangari Brazil Corvette all going past before finally pitting. When he eventually pitted, he aquaplanned straight into the ouside barrier at pit-in by where the pit lane speed starts, leaving the car perpendicular to the road, blocking it for a few fellow front runners who were pitting for extreme wets from inters. The team there should have known that the rain wasn't going to stop, and left Shane Sparks high and dry (...?) out there, but he can be happy he managed to bring it home with some points.

Onyx Racing:
Another one of the cars at the back early on in the running that found themselves near the front of the order with the way the weather and the pit stops turned. Overall good day for local driver Wakana Morioka and team-mate Milan Vukovic

Puyo-Puyo Racing + Scuderia Vittore:
The 67 Lister found themselves in the same boat as the Onyx car. They were lucky to get tenth and the final point after a desperate battle with the 54 Chris Short Ferrari which resulted with a drag race to the chequered flag and the All-Japanese driver duo on top. The lead Vittore Lister found itself in a similar situation as the 19 GP Lister but a few laps earlier, and ended up blocking the way to pit in from the 32 Rojo and the 02 Solvalou. The damage of the car was more than the team could repair unbeknownst to the team, and the car retired on track with a brake failure. A dreadful display from the Vittore team and a failure to recover when the other car to do the same thing scored points earns them the Reject Of The Race.

Chris Short Racing:
Nearly scored a point at the hands of the 67 with the 54 but never got the job done. Both cars were comfortably in the midfield but were lost in the shuffle when some light rain hit in the second pit stops. A brake system failure for the 55 late in the running would be a dreadful end to a potentially fruitful day.

Ambrose-Milan Autosport:
The 42 had a good start of the race, making it to the front on a few occasions, but with the chaos of the second stop relegated them to outside the points. The lead car was also affected by the second round of stops and could never recover.

Sangari Team Brazil:
Oh, what could have been. Finding themselves 20 seconds up the road after doing one pitstop less than the 26 Union Saver in what was a inspired run by Mineiro, he went up the hill at pit straight with 2 laps to go and a big plume of black smoke coming out of the front of his Corvette. Pitting late in the cycles left them having to skip pitting for inters and leaving the job down to the young Brazilian to keep it on the island. Pablo Da Silva did more than enough to keep the car in the running early after passing the Kun 575 but let Minerio do the duration of the running after the first stops so his younger compatriot had more track time, and boy did that nearly give the one-off car the ultimate upset. Drive of the Race goes to the GP2C Veteran and the AR 2.0 stand-out.

Best In The world, Belgio, Gulf, Kjellerup, Luxray, Kun and JLD:
All of these cars, bar JLD were held up for the longest time by the Kun 575 who after qualifying well couldn't keep the pace. This pretty much ruined most of these guys's races, bar JLD who suffered a suspension failure after the first round of stops. The Kun Ferrari suffered a brakes failure which lead to a pretty nasty shunt in the midfield, Jayleen Mori walked out of the car un-harmed.

IBR Scuderia Alitalia:
A double DNF is not what the factory Ferrari team needed as we head to Asia. The 28 Retired in the pit lane during the first round of stops with a unknown technical failure. The 27 found themselves in the battle for the win with the 32 Rojo and 02 Solvalou and found themselves higher in the placing when the rain came, only for the engine in the front of their Ferrari to expire. A 25 point swing goes the way of Public Enemy Number One with time running out.

Alitalia are showing their intent to lock up the Teams and Manufactures Championship. But the surprise of the session was how quickly on the ball the BITW Chia Duo were. Li Qi hasn't raced in a top flight car since her brief Venture into Canon-F1 and Hiang-Hao being away from F1RWRS for a few years, if the Brazil duo nearly won on luck the China Boys could win it on merit.

However, there will be a huge battle at the front. The top four runners are within one tenth in one of the most competitive sessions all year. Anyone near the front will have a shot at the win. Sunday will be a 2 hour sprint race and will be about who is able to keep up and who can make the most of their pit stops.

China Race Results:

Weather: Clear and Dry

Image

Fastest Lap: Car 26 (USD Corvette - Llosa/McKenna) : 1:28.526

Results are still considered unofficial.

The Good:

*There had been close calls before, missed opportunities and pure bad luck. But it took Stefan Kuntz and Darren Cardel long enough to finally call themselves winners in the GT-R WC. They were always right at the front, and climbing up the order with the early stops and getting lucky with the free air, eventually rising to the top after the second round of stops and some sublime laps out of Kuntz on fresh tires. Decisive driving at the end guaranteed the win after a scare when attempting to pass the lapped Chris Short 55 nearly gave the win to the eventual second place Rojo Lambo. A well earned 1-2 for the Raging Bull in a Chinese Race Track.

*But after the two hours were done, the boys at the 27 IBR Ferrari can hold their heads high after their run. They were the victim of a spin early on at Turn 7, found themselves outside the points with little chance of preventing the damage of a Ricardo Llosa/Jordan McKenna podium. With the potential disaster staring them down, they made the gamble to be one of the first cars to pit, and it saved their race. They were tenth once the pit stops cycled out the first time, and right on the heels of the Corvette Train of the two Union Saver cars and the BITW China Car. While they did fall back late on worn Pirellis, they did more than enough to save their championship lead, and with the 26's retirement, and extend it as much as they could after a tough start to the race earning them the Drive of the Race.

*While the BITW Team China duo did not win on home soil, they can be happy that they held their own after being away from the sport at such a high level for as long as they have. They mixed it up with both Union Saver Corvettes regularly and beat them after stellar pit work. It was smiles all around for Best In The World after their full time entry finished P8 surviving the attrition. Another victor of the attrition was the Luxray Viper, earning their second top 10 result since joining the series.

The Bad:

*Two of the three Saleens fell victim to the exact same engine failure during the race. Mind you, neither of them were doing so well anyways. The Gulf car up to it's retirement was last and the Independent front runner was only going to get a few points if they were to finish. Not what either team needed with just two races to go in the season.

*The other IBR Ferrari had a disaster at the first round of stops. Pit Stop ran long after a issue with the air-jack, then a dreadful out-lap marooned them outside the top 20. While they tried to make up as much ground as possible, their day would end when they were one of the victims of the gearbox woes in China. Not something they needed in the Teams or Manufactures Championships.

The Ugly:

*I guess it isn't a surprise that teams always cut their fuel runs as close to the limit as possible. We already saw one team fall victim to this at Monza with the Gulf Simpson team. What would come as a surprise was just how close teams were cutting it. All three cars that retired with running out of gas on Pit-In about 100 meters before where the pit lane limiter kicks in. It is the kind of moments that could have gone either way, considering random events on track and each driver's style. But it's still a dreadful showing none the less.

*But what was dreadful was the amount of gearbox failures there were during the race. Whether it was a bad batch from a supplier, or teams just using them right until their limit, the amount of failures was abysmal. And it affected one of the main title protagonists in the 26 Union Saver, making their gap to the Points Leading 27 grow from 7 to 13 with their fifth place finish and denied the 31 Zonda a well earned third place. Gearboxes get the Reject Of The Race.

A 15 Point gap clearly isn't enough for Alitalia, who went 2-3 in the practice session. Whilst main rivals in the 26 Union Saver were another four tenths behind the fastest time from Rosenforth, the relevance of this session is up in the air with the huge rain cell heading towards Japan that is expected to land on Sunday. Another issue that arose from Friday was that it was the only running at the Fuji circuit where the ambient temperature was anywhere near warm, with the high temperature expected to drop into single digits for the rest of the weekend. The full-time Luxray Viper Stoped on track near the end of it's long run with a technical issue and did not continue in the session.

Session had to be re-run after a bug in which if a car does not do a time, it will be starting on pole for the race anyways..

But the issues that plagued the Full-Time Viper cleared up on the Saturday, as they were the first car to go out and set a time. At the front, Llosa and Roda traded pole times once again with Llosa being the victor. The cold weather caught out some, and rewarded others. A good run from Mantovani, Van Walwijk and Rossi sees them starting in the top 12. Anthony North stopped on track late in the session but it did not affect anyone on a flying lap. But tomorrow comes the rain, and the rain, and the rain.

Japan Race Results:

Weather: Monsoon - God dammit Aerond.

The race started on schedule but it was apparent that the track wasn't safe. The rain had picked up after the F1RWRS race concluded and there was now a river at turn 3 into 4. There was an attempt to get the race run but there was no way that these cars, or any for that matter, would be able to safely complete a lap. The race was suspended after half a green flag lap and another 4 behind the safety car.

Image
Lap total does not include 5 laps run before race was suspended, the race clock was reset to 2 hours for the restart

Fastest Lap: Car 03 (Solvalou Lamborghini - Kuntz/Cardel) : 1:33.249

Weather Post Restart: Moderate Rain Fall, Wet Track -> Heavy Cloud No Rain, Drying Track, -> Light Rain and Damp Track

When the race restarted, it was a fairly clean affair with the major puddles all gone. There were a few spins with drivers getting too greedy on the Turn 10 chicane, including on from the 19 GP Lister which blocked about the third of the field before cars began to trickle through. The big moment of the race was the second stop for inters that every one took. As it turns out, it was few laps before the usual pit window was to open. So whilst in the third stint we had a battle for the win between the three title protagonists, it was either pit or run out of gas on the last lap. The 03 pitted the earliest and was able to crawl back the most positions and time. But the 26 and 27 pitted coming to the final lap, because that's how close everyone was pushing their luck. They entered with the 27 leading their main rivals, and exited with the order reversed. It was 2 picture perfect stops from both crews, but the 26 had to take on less fuel than the Ferrari which helped them close the gap as they head to the Super GP.

But the eventual winner, and most of the top 10, pitted a bit later in the pit cycle and had to come in on the last lap or fear not having enough fuel for post race scrutineering. So we had the curious situation of the chequered flag waving, but the winning car being in the pit lane to get fuel, that being the 25 Union Saver Corvette. Second place would go to the Japan Guest Car of Tojo and Nakaya, who should have finished P8 if it weren't for the pit stops in the last few laps, but they and the Crowd didn't care. Second place points go to Kuntz/Cardel, and points for third to Fazio/Molinaro, etc etc.

OOC: If the results image looks edited, that's because it is. The 26 and 27 were in the pit lane when time ran out, and because of that they were put in the Garage as DNF rather than running the last lap. The 26's pit spot is farther down the road than the 27, as is the spot for the 42 and 19. So GTR2 being GTR2 struck and screwed 27 out of the points, which I felt was a bit dumb. So the results are corrected to how they would have been if the four cars did not retire.

Next thing on the schedule is the Super GP test, so finish up your driver line-ups before the ratings are requested.

GT-R WC 2016: SGP Ratings Due 5/21

Post by RealRacingRoots »

Send In Your Driver Ratings Super GP Teams!

Send them to me Via the E-MAIL button on the side by my profile picture . If you haven't talked to the user who manages drivers for your cars, talk to them now rather than later. If you run a team and manage your own drivers, you can send in those ratings in now and get your other drivers in time in agreement with the other manager(s).

Ratings are due on midnight (PST), May the Twenty First. There will be a 3 day grace period after the deadline before I begin to add penalties to ratings that are sent in late. After the grace period, the minimum average will increase from 2.125 to 2.5 for the next 4 days. After that week is up, your entry will be surrendered no questions asked. The entry(s) lost will be given to a real life team and run real life drivers. There is no Excuse.

There are 2 sections to the driver ratings, one for general performance, and the other for each driver's style.

Section 1: Driver Performance

Race Ability (Dry): 1 - 5
Rain Ability: 1 - 5
Qualifying Ability: 1 - 5

For these ratings: the lower the value, the faster the driver.
The Minimum Number Required for Section 1 is: 2.125
If a driver has his average below 2.125, a penalty of +1 will be given to one of the three stats at random until the minimum is reached.

Section 2: Driver Specialization

Track Aggression: 0.5-1.25 (Higher being more aggressive)
Driver Ranking: Either Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum

With the performance of some drivers over the course of the season, a new system for Section 2 was needed. For the two stats, Cornering Add and Cornering Mult, a two-stage RNG is being implemented. Depending on the driver's Ranking, the final stats will be Generated within a small section of the full range. Each of the four rankings have a equal share of the range, and there is overlap between them. However, before that Generation is done the first stage RNG will show if the stat goes to the higher or lower ranges, because some drivers might be better in tin-tops than open wheelers or just may not be experienced enough. There will be about 20% chance that the range changes, usually split pretty evenly for promotion or demotion in ranges. If the driver is Bronze or Platinum, there will be a fixed 15% chance that the range will either Increase or Decrease since it can not do both.

TL;DR 2 Stages of RNG, First Stage decides if they are better than worse than expected, Second Stage the Actual Stat is made. Here is a quick guide for the rankings since the actual classifications are in development.

Bronze: New drivers to the ASMF with little experience outside of series that are run find themselves here. Usually in their first two years in the Canon and are rising up the ranks. There are some who are gentleman drivers in their 30s or older who have this be their hobby. Most are found in F3RWRS, AR 2.0, AR GTi, Super Touring Cup, AR STS and other entry-level series or where Gentlemen drivers are a necessity.

Silver: New drivers to the ASMF but have a full CV outside of series that are run here. They can be in their first years in the Canon but are racing at a higher capacity than entry level series, but also can be in the canon for longer but never had the success to rise up the ranks as fast as possible. Older Drivers who are in the twilight of a fruitful careers are usually found here as well. Most drivers are in this ranking, and are racing in almost every series in the canon, bar AR 2.0, the CRL, and the F1RWRS.

Gold:Drivers who have made a name for themselves with consistent and solid results in the top-end series. All drivers who have raced in the F1RWRS or F1 are automatically classified as Gold, unless they are older than 40. Most top drivers in F2RWRS, AR 3.5, GT-R WC, F1RICS are also classified as gold with some drivers winning championships in lower-end series getting automatically classified as Gold if they continue to climb the ladder, clause applies in AR STS, FRENCH and F3RWRS. This ranking has to be earned over a few years of successful racing in the ASMF.

Platinum: The best of the best. These guys are the best racers on the planet and they earned this regard. Most are found racing in F1RWRS, F1, the LMP1s or the Factory GTE cars in the ACO LMC, or in the GT-R WC in some of the top entries.

If you aren't being honest with your driver rankings or you just don't know, I will rank them for you.

So for each driver, you send me the ratings for both sections. For Example:

Antonio Fazio:
Section 1: Driver Performance

Race Ability (Dry): X
Rain Ability: X
Qualifying Ability: X

Section 2: Driver Specialization

Track Aggression: X
Driver Ranking: Silver

With X being the rating you send me.

These stats are Locked and cannot be changed by the user who manages the driver. The only stats that can change are Cornering Add and Mult. They will be changed if the driver's Ranking is changed with a stats boost coming if they are promoted, penalty if they are demoted. Sector 1 and Track Aggression can not be touched and will only fluctuate subtlety with the Relation To Factory penalties. Small changes will be added at my discretion if the driver has improved over the course of the season. This includes drivers who have had their stats generated already, including Mineiro who raced in Brazil.

Seems easy, right? Any questions, do not be afraid to ask. If it's about a driver's ratings and you want to know if they're okay? I can check that too. Have fun!

A question: how do we calculate the drivers ratings so they can enter into the minimum average?

I add the three values for Race Ability, Rain Ability, and Qualifying Ability, then divide them by three. If the average is above 2.125, it is A-OK. Just a note, is that the four stats can be made to the thousandth so you can choose to be precise with the ratings.

A reminder to those team owners who haven't done so, that ratings are due in a little over 25 hours before penalties kick in.

Super GP Test Day 1 Report

It will be dry all weekend, since the Super GP will be dry all weekend as well. Day 1 features the starting drivers while Day 2 will have the second drivers doing the majority of the running. Each day has two sessions, one for Qualifying Simulations and the other for Race Runs. This test took place at the Suzuka Circuit in the days following the F1RICS race at Suzuka. Before Day 2 is posted, each car is getting a different brake bias setting, so there may be a difference in times between Day 1 and Day 2 outside of just the new drivers in the cars.

Session 1 - Race Simulation

Image

Lone incident of the session happened when Elinor Yurko misjudged her braking point at the hairpin and ran into the rear of Laurent Couteau's Porsche. The Pulsar had major rear end damage, but was able to make it back to the pits under it's own power whilst the Ferrari had less damage due to the fact there were less major parts in the firing line. That would be the end of Couteau's Race Run but the Tassie Ferrari would be able to continue later in the session.

Session 2 - Qualifying Simulation

Image

The story of day one was the speed of the Gillet at Suzuka. It's corner speed through sector 1 and 2 was miles ahead of everyone else. But at the same time, they had one of the lowest trap speeds on the run to 130R due to the car's lighter and less powerful nature. The second session was a clean affair outside of some cars running wide in the first sector.

Looks like the car will be more important than the driver for this one.

But how embarrassed must Guillaume be feeling? Benoit somehow managed to go faster than him! In both sessions!

He hasn't driven competitively since 1996 at the latest (unless you count his one appearance at the Duel in the Desert), which I'm pretty sure is before Benoit was even born. :P

Due to the disappearance of Dark, JLD Motorsport will inherit the #87 entry due to a deal we had to merge the two teams for 2017 to form a Saleen super-team. Drivers will be announced at a later date.

Super GP Test Day 2 Report

Drivers swapped, new brake bias settings. It's time for the second day of the SGP test.

Session 1 - Race Simulation

Image

Lone incident of the session was when Paul Jenkins backed his Porsche into the barriers at Degner 2 causing major rear end damage to the NRE Porsche. This was on his last run of the session and he did not do a run until the Qualifying Simulations started.

Session 2 - Qualifying Simulation

Image

The Zeroforce Morgan woke up on day, but similar to the Gillet it also has a lower speed trap figure at 130R. Alex Dorval's inexperience in a roofed car showed as he wasn't to get as much out of the team that is prepared by the Factory F1RWRS team. Whilst the 911 GT3-RSs struggled in relation to the others, their pace should be better when they get to the High Speed Ring.

Super GP Free Practice 1 Results

Weather is dry all weekend

Image

Regular Runners: The Saleens have found the track to call their home. It took them the whole season and one shock win, but the S7 suit HSR with it's high speed stability and long gears. They could find themselves the spoilers to the title fight come the 3 hour race into the night. Rafa Modena wasn't happy with some of the lapped cars, and wasn't able to get a clean lap under his belt. KL Shultz stopped on track with a mechanical issue between turn 3 and 4 late into a run and didn't continue in the session. The only incident for either Regular or SGP runners happened when John Bovy got loose in turn one and spun his Ferrari 575. Anthony North had no where to go as he was directly behind the Kun Ferrari and ran into the spinning car. Both cars suffered major damage and didn't continue in the session.

SGP Runners: Whilst there was a chance that the Gillet would be off the case with it's lower power, it wasn't to be with Seron getting the second fastest time among the GT2 runners. After a tough SGP Test, the Porsche teams appeared more prepared for the challenge at hand with the Euromotor and Nurminen teams showing impressive pace amongst the variety of other cars in the GT3-RSRs while Couteau impressed in his older GT3-RS.

Super GP Free Practice 2 Results

Image

Regular Runners: The title protagonists continue their charge at the front although the Ferrari 550s haven't been getting the best runs out of turn 4 which affects the rest of the lap. The real surprise was in the Rojo GT team being the bottom two after a dominant display from the 32 car for the last few rounds of the championship, leaving the door right open for anyone to take the Independent Title right from under them. Two incidents during this session for the full-time runners. The first was a spin for the BITW Lambo that happened when Wade and Gio Roda collided in turn 3. It was a pure racing deal with both drivers trying to navigate a huge pack of cars and they both happened to go for the same real estate. The other was when the hood pins on the Kun Ferrari failed at speed, and the hood fell off on the run to turn 6. The hood flew off track so the session didn't need to be stopped to retrieve it and the Kun Ferrari continued without issue for the rest of the session.

SGP Runners: Couteau continues to impress in the older GT3-RS Porsche while NRE continue to lead the way. Guillaume wasn't last.

Super GP Qualifying Results

Image

Times in yellow were done in the second qualifying session.

Regular Runners: The Saleens flexed their muscles and secured a dominate 1-2-4 for the race on Sunday. Tommy Douglas in the JLD Saleen had a poor showing in Q1 which would have only been good enough for P17 on Sunday, but got the job done in the second session being able to get a clean lap in part way through the session. The only other driver to break into the 58 second lap barrier was Ricardo Llosa qualifying third and the best of the title contenders with Kuntz starting sixth and Rafa Modena starting a disappointing tenth. The lone incident of the session happened when Heizo Takekawa spun at turn 3, and ran the rear of the car into the inside barrier. While the Japanese driver would get it going again he was forced to stop the car in the tunnel as it was leaking oil after the incident.

SGP Runners: The Tassie Ferraris woke up and had the upper hand on Fabron in Q1, but Fabron struck back in Q2 and continued NRE's dominance this weekend with a great pole lap. The lone TVR has revealed itself as a threat with a great lap in Q1.

Super GP Race Results

Image

Race Results and all other from the sessions are now official. Double points only affected the Drivers, Teams championships and the bonus points for the independents trophy.

Fastest Lap: Car 26 (Union Saver Corvette - Llosa/McKenna) : 1:00.041

Drive of the Race: Car 26 - Did everything to win a championship.
Reject of the Race: Car 27 - Watch as I choke a championship away with forgetting how to avoid a spin.

You cannot steal a championship in a bigger way then a 1-2 in the biggest race of the year. After Dennis Mignolet crashed into a spinning McFaste FAT Mosler on the pit straight, the writing was all but on the wall that the championships would be going to Corvette, Union Saver and the driver duo of Ricardo Llosa and Jordan McKenna. With the extra hour of racing and the increased grid size, it was going to be about who would be able to survive and who was able to seize the opportunity when it arose. It was a crash-fest the whole way through with plenty of spins and crashes the duration of the race.

The SGP runners would usually be the instigator of the crashes, but when the dust settled it was the Gillet making good on their pace at Suzuka and ending a tough year for the Belgian national team on a high note.

Ricardo Llosa and Jordan McKenna are the GT-R WC World Drivers Champions
Union Saver Developments are the GT-R WC World Teams Champions
Frank van Nifterick and Helena Boveri are the GT-R WC Independent Driver Champions
Chevrolet are the GT-R WC World Champion for Manufactures

Someone update the wiki tables....please.....

Carset will be released soon. Videos will happen eventually. See you in 2017!
