I'd certainly like to return for 2016. And, as I have said in the mibbit chat, I'm calling dibs on a Renault Laguna. I'll wait for other people to come up with ideas before going into any rules discussion.

NRE will be back for 2016, however by then we've lost the Volvo factory backing, and with limited resources due to the expansion to F3RWRS were going to run two Peugeot 405s we found in a scrapy... err, bought from a respectable used car dealer.

Calendar wise, I'm open to suggestions from you. Just simply name tracks you'd like to be included in the calendar. I'd also like to support the RWRS at a few events, so if you'd like us to support the RWRS, name the GPs.

The calendar will probably be 7-8 double-headers

Draft Calendar

Round 1: TBA-TBA
Round 2: Brands Hatch - 17 April (Supporting RWRS)
Round 3: TBA - TBA
Round 4: TBA - TBA
Round 5: TBA - TBA
Round 6: TBA - TBA
Round 7: TBA - TBA
Round 8: TBA - TBA

ZimSport will be returning in Vectras for 2016, although probably under a sponsorship name rather than ZimSport.

My proposed calendar:

1. Bathurst (F1RWRS)
2. Brands Hatch (F1RWRS)
3. Knockhill/anywhere in Britain
4. Oschersleben
5. Zandvoort (F1RWRS)
6. Spa (F1RWRS)
7. Macau
8. Oran Park

Seeing my Zeroforce team doesn't have anything planned for 2016, I am interested in joining the series with a Renault 19 (if there is a slot avaible).

Edit : A random little question : Will we be able to add our liveries ?

Autosport wrote:Plus One Group Buys Knockhill Circuit
Luke Knight's Plus One Group have recently announced their takeover of Scotland's premier racing venue, in a multi-million pound deal that will breathe life into the dilapidated circuit. Previous owner Derek Butcher sold up after failing to attract any series to the circuit for the 2015 season, and reportedly Plus One Group were the only bidders. The track has fallen into a state of disrepair after the British Touring Car Championship stopped visiting the circuit in 2013, but the new deal will "safeguard the future" of the once-proud track, according to a Plus One Group spokesperson.

Knockhill once played host to a whole range of international and domestic series, although the circuit's early 2000 heydays, where series such as British F3, BTCC, World Superbikes, Drift GP, and Prost GP held races on the track, are long behind it now. However, the circuit is already undergoing "major redevelopment" and is already negotiating for a "reject sanctioned series" to visit the track in early June next year, according to circuit officials.

That all but confirms Knockhill on the calendar for next year, which will feature feature and sprint races. I've drafted a provisional calendar, feel free to suggest improvements.

PROVISIONAL CALENDAR

Round 1 - Race 1 / Round of Australia / Bathurst / 26th March / 25 laps / Supporting F1RWRS /

Seeing as both Renault and Peugeot are manufacturers in the RTCC, it'd make some sense for there to be a French round...

Yep, I don't really understand why there are two Ducth rounds. What' so special about Groningen Airport?

Of course, IBR would lobby for an Italian round, but, failing that, how about Dijon Prenois?

Yeah - drop Groningen for Dijon, and have round 14 somewhere in Italy instead.

I'm lobbying TMLW for that round to be at Adria anyway, so hopefully that happens.

Sounds like a good idea - the calendar was by no means final, and in retrospect it was a little stupid to have two Durch rounds. I'll redraft the calendar soon with all the suggestions taken on board.

I'm not being patriotic - Equipe Gauthier has nothing to do with this series. I thought it'd just make sense to have a round for the 2 French manufacturers.

SRMP wrote:NRE's RTCC arm bought out by a French investor group

Niko Nurminen, 45, founder and majority owner of the Nurminen Racing Engineering motorsports team, has announced that their Rejects Touring Car Championship operations have been sold to a yet undisclosed group of French investors. This annoucement comes shortly after the team failed to yet again score points at the most recent RTCC race held in Suzuka, Japan.

"The thing is, we're simply running short on cash. Volvo is very disappointed with our results and if it wasn't for a watertight contract they would've already pulled the plug. They are now giving us only minimal support for the last round in Austria and then take their Volvos back, leaving us with nothing but unpaid bills. I don't see how we could be more competitive in the RTCC next year with a full-time F3RWRS campaign around the corner putting a big strain on our limited resources. We've loved being in the RTCC for these two seasons (1998 and 2015), but due to the above reasons there's a high risk that our entry would become little more than dead weight, which is something we simply can't afford to have.

[Nathan] Nurmester and [Nikolai] Nurmovitsch have already planned to move elsewhere next season, so this doesn't leave our drivers into a bad position. We'll also make sure that Ryan Carlton will be employed by our successor, unless he is able to find a seat elsewhere. Most of our other personnel will move across to help in our F3RWRS and F1RDS programs, with the remaining staff being contracted for at least one season under the new management. The sale also includes our garage in Slough, England, which was our first base outside of Finland. But no matter how emotional it is to close that door for the last time, in the end racing is business and sometimes sacrifices have to be made.

All in all there was little viable options besides that, and we can only hope that this will help our F3RWRS and F1RDS teams which are currently our main focus points."

A full annoucement by the buyer should be expected shortly after the season-ending rounds in Lienz, Austria.
