42   Jan Maylander             Dofasco      1:33.218   +4.718

Cameron takes pole, just. Kickert pulls out a stunning lap to go fifth, Suomanen continues his heroics in his Mazzacane, and Simpson puts in one of the better performances Kingfisher have seen all season. On the other hand, Peter Port was uncharacteristically slow and Nikolov had a poor run in his first race back from injury.
Also, I have no idea how Maylander stayed within 107%, but somehow he'll still make the field.

Round of Canada - Race 1

PROSPEC
CAMERONWINSLOL. He was untouchable all race, and never looked like losing. Einhrin was, as usual, a bit less impressive, but continued his streak of scoring points in between his DNFs.

OCTAN
Jerry de Boer got some really bad luck during this race. On lap 3, he got punted off by Bannock at turn 8, and was spun by Nikolov on the penultimate lap, relegating him to the back of the field. Da Cunha has his usual race - anonymous and slow.

JONES
Sammy's heart must have been in his mouth on lap 2 when Nurmester and Dinella went into turn 1 with Walsh and Yorke alongside, making it four wide. Four went in, three came out, with Dinella left facing the wrong way. Nurmester would continue on to take a podium, while Dinella would spin again after being forced over the kerbing by Kwol-Cho at the final chicane.

WEST CLIFF
Both drivers were abysmal in qualifying, and had to fight through the field. Neither scored points, but both made the top 20.

KINGFISHER
Simpson came within a chicane of scoring Kingfisher's first point of the season, but unfortunately he was passed by Serevi. Still, that 16th will pretty much ensure Dofasco will never pass them. Al Abin was caught up in Hamalainen's wild ride and lost a front wing, dropping him to the back of the field.

PLUS ONE
Not only was it a double DNF for Plus One, they were the first two cars out. Hamalainen was the first to go, in a frightening crash at the hairpin on lap 1. He tried to go down the inside of Larsen under brakes, but clipped Larsen's rear wheel and was launched into the air and upside down. He then slid straight on, taking out al Abin as he rounded the hairpin. Hamalainen's came to a stop, right side up, where he had to be assisted from his car and was taken immediately to the medical centre. As for Harmsky, his race ended on lap 3 when his gearbox crapped itself while running third.

LINTON-SOLINDAHL
MacDrage had a poor race, after nearly driving straight into the Wall of Champions while being passed by Blanchett and being spun by Kwol-Cho later. LeClerc was slow as usual until his gearbox failed.

ZOMBIEKART
Walsh didn't have the pace to match the leaders, and wasn't helped by spending most of the race stuck behind Joel Melrose. Still, thanks to some DNFs up front he managed 6th, which has only cost him the lead of the championship by two points. Bannock was also pretty good, except for punting off de Boer.

NEBULA
Torrente wasn't overly quick in race trim today, but he lose much ground, still recording a top 20. Mazzacane was matching him all race until his gearbox broke on lap 11.

AERORACING
Gary Pacer was cheated out of a podium by a gearbox problem on the second last lap, but that meant Terenzio Nicchi could become the hero of the day, with a sensational fourth place finish. From 16th place, this was an exceptional debut drive, making others look simply average.

MAZZACANE
Both cars were in the points, with 8th for Yorke and 12th for Suomanen. While the Finn couldn't hold off faster cars, including Yorke, it was still a solid effort. Yorke could have been higher, had he not been spun late in the race by Melrose.

IBR
As usual, Hannesson was in contention for a podium when his car let him down, this time with a suspension failure. Thus, once again it was Pykalisto who had to the scoring, with a 10th place finish and a brilliant effort to hold off Einhrin.

ZIMSPORT
Blanchett experienced the curse of the Supercheap Auto car with a gearbox problem at half distance, but did what few drivers have managed for ZimSport - she moved forward. In fact, by lap 6 she was almost in the points. Kickert, after an excellent qualifying, fell backwards to 9th by the end.

RESTOV
Serevi snatched the final point from Kingfisher at the final corner, but will pick up some penalty points for passing Mazzacane under yellows at turn 1 for Hannesson's parked car. Once again for Obolensky, a poor qualifying resulted in a poor result, despite gaining 14 places during the race.

PORTO WINE
Mondlane has a habit of sneaking under the radar, and that's when he's at his best, scoring two more points for Porto Wine without anyone noticing. He certainly made Carlinho look crap, who struggled all race to pass da Cunha's Octan.

RED BULL
A very good day out for Taki, who took 5th place thanks to an early pass on Melrose. Hamilton made ground, but not enough to score points.

DSR
Gonzalez had an early spin after making a mistake at the last chicane, but still made Nikolov look bad. Nikolov will pick up penalty points as well for spinning de Boer late in the race.

JLD
Piscine finally managed to go a race without crashing or having something break, taking second place. Melrose did his job by creating a very long train behind him, allowing Piscine enough ground to stay ahead of everyone when they finally got by, and managed to hold on for 7th, but will get penalty points for spinning Yorke.

KAMAHA
Desai's race came to an early end with an oil leak, while Kwol-Cho was just plain slow. He spun MacDrage after the Scot got by, and had a hand in spinning Dinella late in the race. The fact that he was almost beaten by a Dofasco on merit speaks volumes about his race.

DOFASCO
Any hopes Samelko had of being competitive were dashed when he forced into the pits with an electrical issue, while Maylander trundled around the back of the field for a while, which nearly allowed him to make a legitimate pass for the first time this season on Kwol-Cho.

NURMINEN
The NREs finished line astern in 22nd and 23rd, less than a tenth of a second apart. Larsen, racing for his job, almost had it ruined by Hamalainen. After he was hit, he lost a few spots trying not to find the fence. That said, the fact that he nearly beat Cinotti at the death says something about Cinotti's average day.

I forgot to mention this, but no :P
Kamaha, ZimSport and DSR weren't allowed to replace their drivers at the second race in Adelaide when they were injured, and neither can Plus One now. You can run Dominguez afterward :P

What a disaster of a race for West Cliff. And how did Peter Port end up so many positions behind Laura in qually? Just shocking.

L'Equipe wrote:Nebula Grand Prix confirm F3RWRS exit after 2016

Nebula Grand Prix have confirmed that they will exit F3RWRS at the end of the current season. The French-registered team have failed to follow up on their results under their previous guise of Fusion Motorsports who were successful in 2015, and it appears that Nebula no longer see a benefit in running their team in the lowest RWRS category.

"It's been a dreadful year for us" said team principal Jacques Couteau, "but we were willing to hang on if we couldn't find race seats for our drivers. However, there seems to be plenty of interest for them, which is good to see. It means that we can start reeling in our F3 operations and concentrate on IFRC."

When asked where the year had gone so wrong, Couteau was at a loss to explain. "I'm not sure, to be honest! We've got fine drivers; Komarek and Mazzacane looked like a good lineup, but when Jiri's sponsors defaulted we knew we couldn't keep him on performance alone. Jorge [Alvarez Torrente]'s been a revelation, but the car has definitely let him down. I also think the engine is something to do with it; last year we had a great relationship with Audi and we got a lot of attention seeing as we were one of two teams supplied. When they pulled out after they were apparently displeased with their 2016-spec engine, we had to get Mugen Hondas which were apparently of a similar power output to last year's Audi units. However, because they've had three or four other teams we've just not had the help integrating the engine into the package that we'd have liked."

"In our plans for next year, we originally planned to run Jorge for another year and pair him with Nino [Barlini] who looks very good indeed, you know, sticking with our own drivers. However, because there's been interest from other teams why keep spending the money to run a team? I mean, Nino's doing a fantastic job in RDS and will possibly have a number of offers for his services for 2017. As for Jorge, he's been a star despite having to drive a tricky car. He's beaten Thiago more often than not, and has done far fewer races. He's one to look out for."

Although it's been news of late that the F3RWRS commission is trying to cut back the number of teams entered, Nebula claim that this wasn't a factor in their decision. It also appears that the team will be willing to give some young drivers their debuts over the second half of the season.

Gazzetta dello Sport wrote:IBR F3 Team to close at end of season

After persistent rumours about the future of the IBR F3 squad, team CEO Alessandro LInari has announced the team will close its doors at the end of the current season.

"It was not an easy decision to make," said Linari. "We have a large junior programme, and we have a responsibility to find our employees a top seat in junior formulae. While we didn't want to risk not finding such a thing externally, at the same time we had to consider this was not being delivered at our own team. We eventually concluded that it is best to close the team, and assist those guys in finding drives for next year."

Olafur Ragnar Hannesson was expected to be fighting for the championship, and has demonstrated an abundance of raw pace, but has been let down by a plethora of retirements and incidents that have ruined his season. He was pipped for a promotion to F2RWRS for next season, but instead it looks like he may move back across to IFRC, in which he had success in its predecessor RoLFS.

Tonu Pykalisto meanwhile is being linked to former team Pemberton Prospec Racing, as a replacement for Nathanael Cameron, whom is expected to make the jump to F2RWRS in 2017. However, other teams are also believe to have Pykalisto on their radar, including Equipe Gauthier and Nurminen Racing Engineering, the latter of whom he raced for in F1RDS.

Autosport wrote:Heavy rain causes cancellation of F3RWRS race
After a large thunderstorm rolled over Montreal overnight and continued to drench the city throughout the morning, it has been confirmed that the second F3RWRS race of the weekend, scheduled for early this afternoon, has been cancelled. The announcement came after qualifying, which was also red flagged and cancelled while Joe Harmsky held provisional pole. The race stewards had initially announced that the grid for the race would be determined by the finishing order of yesterday's race, before completely calling off the remainder of the weekend.
The F3RWRS was in Montreal supporting the SARS, who are so far still confirmed to be racing later this afternoon.

Yep, I've had to cancel the second race. The actual reason is that I've managed to break GP4. I can still do races, but it no longer listens when I tell it how many laps it needs to be, and it's simply too difficult to fix or work around. So, I've simply given up.

As a result, the Round of Germany will likely be delayed for a while, as I'm going to abandon GP4 altogether in favour of rFactor (which I'd been thinking about doing for next season), and it will take some time to work it all out. For now, all you have to do is sit back and be a bit patient. I'll be using the Super Formula mod, the livery template for which can be found here, if you want to help convert liveries. If you do, you don't need to do a good job, it just needs to not burn my eyes out whenever I look at it :P

Is that the first ever cancellation of an RWRS race because of the weather.

First livery to be sent in; the new Nebula Grand Prix chariots. The designs have been engineered to ensure that at a glance you know who's who, and to be as bright as possible using the power of the stars themselves.

They are available here.

West Cliff would like to continue with a similar livery to what they had before (which was based on Foxdale's F1RWRS livery). If somebody could adapt that, that would be appreciated. :D

NRE liveries and racing suit.

We also announce that Ragnar Larsen has been sacked due to incompetence and is replaced by our reserve driver Herberto Dominguez (as indicated by the Andorran sponsoring on the #91 car).

ROLL CALL!
I require every team owner who hasn't got a livery yet to post in the thread, either with a completed livery, or at least a request for someone else to do it.

I have liveries for the following teams:
Plus One
Nebula
ZimSport
Restov
Nurminen
IBR
Mazzacane
Jones
Octan
Prospec
JLD
Porto Wine
Red Bull

The following teams have requested aid for liveries:
DSR
West Cliff
Falik (Wizzie's got it)
Linton-Solindahl
Kingfisher (pasta's got it)
ZombieKart
Aeroracing (pasta's got it)

I still need word from:
Dofasco

If your team is not on the list, get to work :P
(And if you need some incentive, look what happened the last time I got impatient)

In related news, due to rFactor still not being perfect in terms of grid sizes, and my desire to not split the field like I did for GP4, I will be instituting pre-qualifying from here on out. How many cars will be in it will depend on how many cars each track can fit. The Norisring, for example, can handle 34 cars, so 16 cars will take part. For Race 1, those 16 will be:

Code: Select all

Samora Mondlane              Porto Wine
Emma Kickert                 ZimSport
Jorge Alvarez Torrente       Nebula
Manon Blanchett              ZimSport
Carlinho                     Porto Wine
Hwok Kwol-Cho                Kamaha
Thiago Mazzacane             Nebula
Jalmerson da Cunha           Octan
Rick Simpson                 Kingfisher
Oliviero Cinotti             Nurminen
Mohammed al Abin             Kingfisher
Cezary Samelko               Dofasco
Rene LeClerc                 LSM
Jan Maylander                Dofasco
Hristo Nikolov               DSR
Andrea Bianchi               Plus One

If you didn't guess, they are the 15 lowest placed drivers in the championship, plus Bianchi who's making his debut. (Also, provisional at the moment, depending on driver changes.)
I'll also be running another PQ session for race 2, so drivers who get out of the bottom 16 in race 1 won't have to take part again.

That's great! :)

Thanks man, as for Dinella's helmet I've never really thought about it but I'm thinking that with his personal sponsorship from Lampre it should resemble something similar to what Pedro Lamy had:

Image

Keep the top white, have the whole of the rear of the helmet from the end of the visor in pink, but keeping the small section over the visor in pink too. Underneath the visor all the way round is green and replace the blue edging on Lamy's helmet around the pink sections with the same shade of green.

As for logos, Castrol on the front below the visor, Lampre above the visor on the pink section. Put smaller Lampre logos on the sides of the helmet just back from the ends of the visor too.

Does that sound okay?

I tried to replicate your plan as well as possible, but I just couldn't get the stripes on the sides of the helmet to align properly with the ones on the top. So I came up with this:
