Diego Alvarez Torrente has officially won the 2016 F2RWRS championship, as he has a 25 point lead over Carter Simpson with a maximum of 24 points on offer at Tropico. Also, as a result of various on-track incidents both here and at other events, Bastiaan van Nieuwenhuijzen has been banned from the first Tropico race, while Marcel Ageymang-Badu has been banned from both Tropico races. RonDen Racing Engineering and Scuderia Alitalia are to nominate respective replacements as soon as possible. Finally, Marko Jantscher has completed his race ban, and will be free to return for Tropico.

Not the best race we've had, but every point counts. I'm just glad that Badu got punished for his actions, he was racing like a madman out there! I'm looking forward to Tropico, it's a good opportunity to score a whole lot of points in one weekend.

That was an awesome race! I could've won, but I'm still really happy that Mr. Rogers' team did an awesome job with the car and the strategy and everything, I'm really looking forward to racing at Tropico now!

It's an amazing feeling to win this championship in my first season. People questioned my move to Dofasco, and they were right to. To come into Plus One, there's just so much professionalism and they wanted to win things. They've been so good in helping me to follow my dream of getting to F1RWRS, and I am so pleased that I'm going to be there next season. I hope I can continue this form with Jones next season, and I hope to learn a lot from Mark Dagnall, who knows what to do to win.

If Torrente was counted in the Teams' Championship, he'd be 2nd and level on points with MRT and Simpson. So, uh, yeah. I'm happy.

With Dofasco in dire financial straits after the withdrawl of backer Lukoil, there are strong suggestions they may not have the cash to attend the final event of the season, the PDVSA Twin 100 on the island of Tropico. However, it seems the Polish team may have a saviour, at least to keep them running until the end of the year.

Rumours are rife that Benoit Voeckler will bring his plentiful bounty of cash from various sponsors in the family consortium, such as Delacroix-Serrano, and pay for a ride at the F2RWRS season finale.

With Marko Jantscher having served his suspension, Voeckler has lost his ride at Falik Arrows, and is desperately trying to keep his hand in single seaters for the rest of the year, before making the step up to F1RWRS full-time with Boxtel next year.

Neither party were available for comment at the time of publication.
