Football Rejects World Series

Post by Klon »

Yeah, the guy whoms relationship with football is frigid at best doing a football game. This can only go well.

********

It was predicted to happen, but not so soon. Much like every Ponzi scheme ever, Sky became too big and collapsed under its own weight. By the year 2015, having bought exclusive rights to every English football game, the market became saturated, and Sky ran out of new income. They went under. Back down under, where they should never have left in the first place. The rights were up for grabs for almost nothing. And along came the F1 Rejects World Race Series...

The world's new biggest sporting franchise diversified. It was a potentially lucrative link-up - using the huge popularity of RWRS to finally find a new group of consumers to move into the previously saturated UK footballing market. The best part? The clubs, without their precious TV revenues, had also gone under. The RWRS teams bought them for next to nothing. The RWRS owned the league, and the RWRS teams owned the clubs. Football was about to change forever. The Revolution was here. And Alitalia. And Sunshine. And so on...

Sadly that did not work out as expected: the financial blow was too significant to be recovered from. The RWRS teams and other personnel could not provide enough money to protect their teams from rich teams on the continent which led the F1R council to decide to abandon the EPL shortly after the start of the 2015-16 season. Not satisfied with just giving up on their football plans, the Council decided to appoint Werner Ferme, a known football team manager, with creating a football series.

Ferme decided to go with systems developed in American sports and thus the Football Reject World Series is born...

With the story out of the picture, let's get to business. I will use FIFA 11 with real players (since I am too lazy to torrent a newer game and not willing to buy one either). You will draft teams from the players available in the game (with a few exceptions) for your team and then manage its needs. This should be simple enough.

Here's how to register:
Team Name: Your team name must be like most names are in American sports, i.e. <City/Region name> <Noun> (e.g. Warsaw Examples)
Location: This is important, since - as long as that is possible in FIFA 11 - you must have at least one-quarter of your team (i.e. 4 players) from the nation your team is based in. You can pick anywhere in the world
Team Owner:

For now, the entry list will be limited to 16 teams.

I have a question about home nationality players.

Are players born abroad but participating for the national team of your team's country included in the home-players quota? So if I were to sign, say, Thiago Motta, Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Giuseppe Rossi would they be counted as Italians or Brazilian, Argentine and American?

Alright, with shinji as the last entrant we are full. Time to prepare for the Draft...

Your task during the draft will be to pick 18 players for your team. Here is a list of players in the game I am using. Of course there are some rules to watch out for:
* You may not draft players with an overall higher than 85 (you may get them later during the season, I'll explain that when the time is right)
* You have to operate within a budget cap: wages are basically € (Overall * 100,000). No team may spend more than €130,000,000. For your player selection that just means that your team's total overall may not be higher than 1300.
* You must have at least four players from your team's home nation on your squad. "Nationality" in this case is being defined as either FIFA nationality, other eligible nations or political nationality (to use one Stramala's examples: Giuseppe Rossi would qualify as both Italian and American for the purposes of this rule). Should FIFA 11 not have enough players in the game for you to adhere to that rule, an alternative home nation will be assigned to your team.
* You should (I am not going to enforce this, but I would still strongly advise you to listen to me) not draft more than two goalkeepers.

I was planning on holding a live-draft on Sunday evening (probably beginning at 5 p.m. CEST). Should you not be able to attend at that time or just not willing to spend three to four hours in a chatroom (couldn't blame you) please send me a list of your draft pick. Please make sure that that list is long enough (I'd advise to look for at least 40 if not 50 players) and I can remotely make out a priority.

Look at the overalls of your players on the link I provided and add them up. That sum must not be higher than 1300, or to put in other terms your team's average overall must be around 72 or lower.

Klon,
Just to clarify something something
When you say choose at least 50 players, does that mean you choose 18 players as your team and the rest are in reserve just in case another team has a player you have chosen.
If 2 or more teams want the same player how do you decide who goes where.

As far as the four-home-player rule is concerned, your team's new home is China (both PR and Taipei).

peteroli34 wrote:When you say choose at least 50 players, does that mean you choose 18 players as your team and the rest are in reserve just in case another team has a player you have chosen.

Precisely.

peteroli34 wrote:If 2 or more teams want the same player how do you decide who goes where.

There is a draft order. I'll let this in-character quote explain the rest:

www.sportschau.de wrote:Kölner Adler Receive First Draft Pick

Today in a livestream on their website, the Football Rejects World Series held a drawing to determine draft order. Star guest Walter Zenga fished the 16 teams out of the pot to determine the starting order for the snake draft.

1st - Kölner Adler
2nd - Sydney Strikers
3rd - Chisinau Dynamos
4th - Tilbury Titans
5th - Rousse Dragons
6th - Copenhagen Avalanche
7th - Lima Voyagers
8th - Galway Tribesmen
9th - Stoke Sentinels
10th - Buffalo Krill
11th - Mexico Warriors
12th - Stockholm Syndromes
13th - São Paulo Braves (...)
14th - Banten Rhinos (3rd in second round)
15th - Lombardia Leoni (2nd in second round)
16th - Lagos Eagles (1st in second round)

Pretty much yes. You can also give instructions on your preferences (such as how many players you want in each position etc.).

Another questions

1-The list of 40/50 must be until 1300 or just the 18 we want from the draft?
2-We have to point from the list which player we want to draft or it will be random?

The limit of 1300 only applies to your team (it may have more than 18 players later during the season, but I'll get to that after the draft) itself so you may list players which would exceed that value.

You can. If you do not point out which order you want your guys drafted in I will just work down the list in a way that seems sensible to me.
