Wonderful finish of the season for Brabham and we accomplished all our goals this season. We will do everything possible to keep our drivers for next season. Michael surelly has more victories to record next to his name, so who knows, maybe 2013 is his season! :)

Chassis and Engine Market

Post by Klon »

It is time for the preparations for 2013 to begin.
Chassis and engine market price table: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... sp=sharing

>> Step 1: Buying an engine
I will explain the columns:
Company and HP should be self-explainatory. CFP means Car Failure Probability, i.e. it's a fancy term for reliability. The higher it is, the more likely your car is to retire from a race.
To explain the prices: prices marked with a + apply for contract extensions only, i.e. customers can resign with their current manufacturer for a slightly cheaper price. This applies for new teams as well, they can take the price marked with a + from the team they replace even if there is no in-character association between the old and new team. The works column represents the development costs the work teams have.

>> Step 2: Developing a chassis
Explaining the columns as well:
Max Grip determines the highest amount of grip possible, your car won't have more grip than that value, no matter what, even if you had HWNSNBM himself driving the vehicle. An RNG will determine that value once you have decided on a chassis type.
CFP is the same as with engines - the lower the number the more likely your car is to finish.

>> Step 3: Selecting brothels
Explaining the columns for the third time:
Max Grip increases the max grip value of your chassis for the last third of the season. Range is the value that is added on to the Random Grip Range, i.e. the value used by the game to determine inconsistency. The higher that value, the more likelier your driver is to have a bad day.

If you have any questions, go ahead and ask. ;)

Alright, please fill out this until Friday, March 14 (8 p.m. CEST) and post it in this thread. Once you have posted the data, editing your post is forbidden unless I allow you to:

Code: Select all

Team:
Engine: Ferrari/Honda/Hyundai/Mercedes/Renault
Chassis: A/B/C/D
Brothels: High Class/Low Class/None

Please note that from this season on, your budget cannot be lower than -€40,000,000 after purchasing chassis, engines and brothels.
Note that if you have not posted your choices until the deadline, your spot will be taken by a user from the waiting list.

Brabham choice:

Team: Brabham
Engine: Hyundai
Chassis: B
Brothels: None

If brothels are for the last third of the season, can we switch this option later on?

As for drivers - we are willing to keep our drivers, but unfortunatelly we wont have the money for that.

PS. I think there is a rule that one of the top 5 teams loses 100 mln in favor of one of the backmarkers. If so, maybe this is not the end for Force India?

It was €50,000,000. I decided to abandon this rule though, since a number of top teams are not that financially well off either.

If brothels are for the last third of the season, can we switch this option later on?

That is an interesting idea. I will think about it.
After thinking about it, I will announce the following: you may chose a different brothel option until the 12th race of the season.

Alright, dark77 just told me he is withdrawing from the series due to the hopelessness of Lola's situaton.

kevinbotz therefore becomes the second new team, Caterham.

I have decided to change the rules for new teams slightly: in the interest of fairness, they may take the engine+ price from their "predecessor", i.e. Caterham can have cheaper Renault engines and Villeneuve can have cheaper Hyundai engines.

In an unsurprising press conference today, Force India owner Vijay Mallya announced that Force India will not be returning for the 2013 season. Citing financial concerns and lack of results from 2012, Mallya has opted to closed down the team and withdraw Force India's entry for the 2013 season. Drivers Davide Valsecchi and Paulo Serafim offered no comment on their unemployed status, although Valsecchi and Serafim are both likely to receive some offers for 2013. Force India's place on the grid will be taken by Jacques Villeneuve's personal team.

RejectSport wrote:JJD to Ferrari!

It has been confirmed today that, on the back of arguably the finest year of his career yet, James James Davies will be contesting the 2013 Formula 1 season for Ferrari. Davies scored 198 points and won the season-ending race at Singapore for the Lola team, which was up until Davies' arrival, strictly a backmarker. Having beaten drivers such as Red Bull's Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher in the vastly improved Brabham, and the defending champion Robert Kubica in the standings did much to restore the British veteran's status following a dismal 2011 with Mercedes in which he regularly struggled to match Nathan McKane - it is in fact McKane who Davies will be replacing in Ferrari.

Davies said during the announcement, "I have to say, I'm very pleased and excited to be driving for Scuderia Ferrari for 2013 - as easily the most famous and most successful racing team of all time, it seems pretty fitting that I, the most talented driver there will ever be, should drive for them. That said, there were a few other offers on the table, but after I toured the factory here, I knew this is where I wanted to be. The team and car all look very serious, very quick, and I'm 100% confident we will be winning both titles this year."

The announcement puts a short end to the speculation on where Davies might be headed - some sources placed him as dead set to return to McLaren and re-live his F1RGP2C glory days, others suggested he may move to reigning World Constructors' Champions Sauber, as well as a few hinting at a move to Brabham.

In other news, reigning GP2 champion David Cassidy, son of former F1 driver and IndyCar legend, Brendon Cassidy, is looking to make the jump to Formula 1.

Driver Market

Post by Klon »

With all the cars (but one) ready, we can now sign some drivers. For those of you who are still with this game from 2012, the system will not be unfamiliar to you. Basically you pick drivers and the gods of RNG decide in case of a real-life driver and the users decide for their fictional drivers.

Note that drivers can bring sponsorship; unlike last season, any driver has at least five per-cent of a chance to get a rounded up value of 0-30 million - that has led to some interesting results already. You can find a list of drivers and the sponsorship they can bring here! Note that if a driver is not on that list it does not mean they are unavailable, I just can't think of every possible driver ever, so if you are missing a driver you'd like to sign, just request him in this thread and I will run the sponsorship RNG. ;)

Please note that the option of offering drivers conditional wages that was in play during 2012 has been removed from the game. Furthermore, your team's budget must be >=0 after signing drivers. FOM has informed the teams that they will pay out another €5,000,000 to any team signing a F1RWRS driver from last season.

Alright, please fill out this until Monday, March 24 (2 a.m. CET) and post it in this thread for real-life drivers - please only offer wages that are rounded up to a million:

Furthermore, each team will have fixed numbers from this season on. You can select any consecutive numbers from 3-80 with the following exceptions: 13 and 27-28 (these two numbers are reserved for use by either McLaren, Williams or Ferrari). Priority is sorted by last year's WCC standings (i.e. Sauber picks first, Red Bull second etc.).

Ferrari are rumoured to be in advanced talks with Russian Evgeny Restov. Restov has been hot property in the F1 paddock after taking two victories for Sauber in the 2012 season en route to 4th place in the World Constructor's Championship. Although initially Restov looked set to stay with the team that propelled him to the top set of the podium, the prospect of being the first Russian Ferrari driver in the team's illustrious history is reportedly attractive to the Russian. Should the rumours turn out to be correct, Restov would partner the experienced James James Davies at the Scuderia, which some are saying could be a dream line up in what a few are already calling the latest 'Golden Age' of the sport.

Ferrari and Evgeny Restov were unavailable to comment at the time of going to press.

In short takagi, if a guaranteed seat at Ferrari appeals to Restov, then we'd be delighted to have him.

Just to clarify, Restov has already done a deal with Sauber for 2013. He is flattered by the interest from Ferrari, but feels that Sauber are the better team for him at this stage of his career.

2013 Formula 1 Season Preview

Post by Klon »

2013 Formula 1 Season Preview - Out With The New, In With The Old?

Rule Changes:
>> From 2013 onwards, drivers will get so-called penalty points for various rule violations, instead of more direct punishments. Every 20 penalty points, a driver forfeits five WDC points. A driver unable to forfeit those world championship points will be instead excluded from the next race weekend. A full list of penalty points-inducing incidents will be made public if requested after the Petronas Chemicals Malaysian Grands Prix. Strategic rule violations (missing pitstops, championship-orientated deliberate accidents) will be ruled according to the old system.
>> The pitstop window for the two obligatory tyre stops has been removed, all teams may make any stop during any lap of the race except the last lap.

Season Calendar:
Gulf Air Bahrain Grands Prix - Bahrain International Circuit – 9/10 March
Petronas Chemicals Malaysian Grands Prix - Sepang International Circuit – 23/24 March
Mitsukoshi Japanese Grands Prix - Suzuka Circuit – 13/14 April
Panasonic Turkish Grands Prix - Istanbul Park – 20/21 April
Red Bull Große Preise von Österreich - Red Bull Ring – 4/5 May
Paddy Power Irish Grands Prix - Kerry International Circuit – 11/12 May
Tiffany Monaco Grands Prix - Monaco Street Circuit – 25/26 May
Telefónica Grandes Premios de España - Valencia Street Circuit – 8/9 June
Intelsat United States Grands Prix - Barber Motorsports Park – 6/7 July
Rogers Canadian Grands Prix - Streets of Vancouver – 13/14 July
Santander British Grands Prix - Donington Park – 24/25 August
Campari Gran Premi d'Italia - Autodromo Nazionale Monza – 7/8 September
Galp Energia Grandes Prémios de Portugal - Circuito Automóvel de Vila do Conde – 14/15 September
Hasselröder Schwarz Große Preise von Deutschland – EuroSpeedway Lausitz – 28/29 September
Hyundai Korean Grands Prix - Korea International Circuit – 5/6 October
Airtel Indian Grands Prix - Buddh International Circuit – 26/27 October
Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - Yas Marina Circuit – 2/3 November
Avon Tyres Singapore Grands Prix - Marina Bay Street Circuit – 16/17 Novembe

Team Preview:
Red Bull Racing Honda
#1 Lewis Hamilton
#2 Jean-Eric Vergne
>> After three years of coming up short, Red Bull Racing finally sealed up a driver's championship. The good news is, they still got the majority of their personnel from that season on-board. The bad news is, it seems like the effort thrown at last year's season finale came to the detriment of this year's challenger, who has been missing pace in Abu Dhabi.
Prediction: Lower Midfield

Villeneuve Racing Hyundai
#3 Jacques Villeneuve
#4 Alexandre-Laurent Voeckler
>> Durango, a former GP2 team, send waves through the paddock when they announced a partnership with Jacques Villeneuve. With the financial power of Alexandre-Laurent Voeckler behind them and the experience of Jacques Villeneuve at hands, they look ready for F1. Still, being the new kid is gonna be very tough.
Prediction: Backmarker

Canon Williams Honda
#5 Nico Rosberg
#6 Yuji Ide
>> Once again the historic team was cause of the biggest riot in the silly season, ditching a returning Mark Webber to sign a contract with Nico Rosberg to return to his old team. The question is now whether young experience beats old experience since Yuji Ide cannot be expected to do great things with the Williams.
Prediction: Upper Midfield

Sauber F1 Team Ferrari
#7 Evgeny Restov
#8 Robert Kubica
>> Short of having traded in Pastor Maldonado for Robert Kubica and having lost some key staff to Caterham, the team is still looking as good as it did in its championship run. The competition has not slept, however, and it will be extremely difficult to repeat the achievement this year.
Prediction: Upper Midfield

Nokia KQ Motor Sports Hyundai
#9 Sergio Pérez
#10 Jake Rosenzweig
>> The situation really is not pleasing for the Hyundai works team: their chassis is lacking and Jake Rosenzweig is not really a talent to write much home about. Still, there are some roots for optimism, such as the direct support by Hyundai as well as managing to resign talented Sergio Pérez.
Prediction: Backmarker

EA Sports Brabham Racing Organisation Hyundai
#11 Michael Schumacher (announcing his retirement at the end of the year)
#12 Jarno Trulli (announcing his retirement at the end of the year)
>> After confirming that Rubens Barrichello would not be driving with them and Michael Schumacher would retire, you'd think Brabham would look for young drivers? Well, bathplug that. They convinced Schumacher and Trulli to add another year to their career by giving them their best car yet.
Prediction: Top 4

Caterham F1 Team Renault
#18 Jaime Alguersuari
#19 Pedro de la Rosa
>> Another new team, entering the series on short notice after Force India's bankrupcy. Apparentely Tony Fernandes had insider information because he signed on staff even before his team's spot was confirmed. This staff may very well turn Caterham into a decent team from day one.
Prediction: Lower Midfield

Scuderia Ferrari
#27 James James Davies
#28 Mark Webber
>> Apparentely, losing the longest-running sponsorship contract in F1 (with Marlboro) didn't really hurt them. The Italian team has brought out a car that could just as well dominate like it's 2002 again. Testing times look promising, and Mark Webber wants to bring the F1 world title to endurance racing, so don't expect any loyality from him to JJD.
Prediction: Top 4

Adidas Stefan Grand Prix Hyundai
#30 Vitaly Petrov
#31 Milos Pablovic
>> Using the money they saved last season and acquired through their new sponsorship deal with returning tobacco brand Mild Seven (who are due to be renamed Mevius in 2014) to full effect, Stefan will very much return to their competitive ways.
Prediction: Top 4

Marussia F1 Team Renault
#32 Daniel Juncadella
#33 Antonio Felix da Costa
>> "Trouble. Trouble. Trouble. Trouble." That's what you would say if you had to describe Marussia's competitive situation after pre-season testing. Their car is not a good one and their rookies are talented, but it's unlikely they can do miracles. Marussia must be working on updates as soon as possible.
Prediction: Backmarker

Petronas Mercedes Team Europe
#73 Jeroen Krautmeir
#74 Felipe Massa
>> After a very disappointing season, Mercedes have decided to completely replace their driver line-up, giving Felipe Massa another chance at F1 greatness as well as making the first major move from F1RWRS to F1 proper. Both of these guys will want to prove themselves, and their car looks up for the challenge.
Prediction: Top 4

Marlboro McLaren Mercedes
#77 Sebastian Vettel
#78 Riccardo Agostini
>> After last year's run with Vitantonio Liuzzi, it seems like McLaren has come to like Italian rookies. They have signed the Italian Formula Three Champion Agostini to join Vettel. Critics say he will drag down the team due to his young age, but at least the car can make up for his biggest problems.
Prediction: Upper Midfield

PDVSA Renault F1 Team
#79 Johnny Cecotto, Jr.
#80 Giancarlo Serenelli
>> Renault announcing their departure for F1RWRS had the unfortunate consequence of making virtually every sponsor the team had leave. Still, there are three things that soften the blow: Venezuelan media seems Renault as a top team, Johnny Cecotto already has F1 experience and being sponsored by two different oil companies will make sure there is no fuel trouble.
Prediction: Lower Midfield

So, what was lost when the internet ate Klon's original post is the hilarious situation where Webber initially signs for Williams, everyone else on Ferrari's second driver list snubs Ferrari/is shit-scared of teaming up with JJD/gets a better offer somewhere else/is clinically insane (delete as appropriate). Then, Williams realise they want Rosberg instead but are paying Webber too much, so they get Ide and tear up Webber's contract, who strongly considers going straight back to Le Mans, but instead decides to take the 2nd Ferrari with the sole goal of avenging his sacking. :P
