2016-17 DHL Pacific Rim International Cup (PRIC)

Post by TomWazzleshaw »

Because the World 800 has died a painful death, the powers that be have decided to launch their own off-season championship, titled the DHL Pacific Rim Cup using old machinery sourced from Lola and Lancia.

As stated earlier, the basic rules are as follows:

TEAMS & DRIVERS:

1. There are 22 starting entries available for each of the three legs, thanks to the limitations of GP4.
2. Entries are reserved to teams that already have entries in the F1RWRS, F2RWRS, F3RWRS or IFRC, and each user can only enter one team.
3. However, since there are three separate legs to the championship, users can decide if they want to enter all three legs, or if they only want to enter one or two of them.
4. Drivers must be existing open-wheeler drivers in the RWRS, and must have driven at some point in 2016.
5. Teams may not run two F1RWRS drivers concurrently.

CHAMPIONSHIP/RACE FORMAT:

1. As stated, there are nine rounds split into three legs of the championship with three rounds each (Australiasia, Asia, North America)
2. Each round will be made of 2 races, split between a 100km sprint race, and a 200km feature race
3. Qualifying will be run for the 100km sprint race, while the grid for race 2 will be set by race 1 results
4. There will be a compulsory pit stop for all cars during the sprint race, which can be made at any time. At least one stop need to be made to finish the feature race, but teams are free to make more stops at their discretion.
5. Points are handed out to the top 8 in the sprint race, using the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1, while they are handed out 20-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the feature race. 2 additional points will be given for pole in the sprint race, while 1 point will be awarded for fastest lap in each race.
6. Drivers and teams will compete for titles in each individual leg, as well as for an overall championship encompassing all three legs.

Jorge Alvarez Torrente will race for Nebula in Australia, but the Fusion drivers will be announced later.

The entry process is now closed for teams that haven't already applied. However, due to the sheer number of entries I got overnight, teams were allocated one car by default, with a few spare entries for each of the categories still available. For now, I'll let you guys sort out second cars yourselves, but if I find that you guys can't get along, I'll bring Based RNG into the party.

Foxdale will be happy with one car, because with two cars, we were going to have Peter Port in one car and rotate drivers in the second seat (three from Martin McFry, Douglas Mann, Pippa Mann and Ben Fleet), May make the decision process a bit easier!

After several weeks on the sidelines, the entry list has been updated with the following changes:

1. The second RonDen car in the Australian Leg has been transferred to Plus One
2. The second RonDen car in the Asian Leg has been transferred to Boxtel
3. Mazzacane has been given the final entry in the North American leg. The entry list for that is now CLOSED.
4. Mazzacane, Gillet ENB and Red Bull have been given a second car for the Asian leg. There is now one entry remaining for existing one-car teams
5. Mazzacane, Gillet ENB and Red Bull applied for the two remaining Australian Leg slots. Since three into two doesn't go, the two entries were RNGed using the following odds:

1-40 - Gillet
41-75 - Red Bull
76-100 - Mazzacane

The RNG rolled 49 and 20, so Red Bull and Gillet recieve the final two entries there. The entry list for the Australian leg is now CLOSED.

The calender has also been updated to include dates for each weekend. Teams can now start signing drivers, while existing signings have been noted. On a similar note, it has been determined that RDS drivers can participate in the series, as long as they have either won an RDS race (Winter Cup included) or finished in the top 5 overall in an RDS season (Winter Cup included).

As mentioned before, Jorge Alvarez Torrente will drive the Nebula entry (although you already knew that!). The Fusion Motorsports entries will be occupied by Jari Lappalainen, and somebody else.

Marko Jantscher is looking for a seat, and if Octan wish to use Jerry de Boer then that's absolutely fine. Nino Barlini will also be looking for a seat, but if an IBR offer comes in he'll take it.

EDIT: Forgot DAT was racing with Gauthier.

Octan Young Drivers line-up:
Jetstar Australian Triple Challenge

Samsung Asia Cup

Shell North America Trophy
Chuck Barett

Jerry De Boer and Jaimerson Da Cunha have the choice to drive the races they want. De Boer gots first priority. Terenzio Nicchi doesnt have a choice, he will drive whatever is left. And i assumme Barett wouldn't mind driving the American round, other than that, he has just as much choice as Nicchi. All drivers get to pick only one round. Refusing to drive is not an option. Driving for other teams in other races is allowed.
