Sports X-Over Experience GP - 2016-17 Season

Post by Klon »

This is the series you guys wanted and I listened to you. #WeThePeople

---------------

The dream of using the clubs and marquees of professional sports to draw as-to-that-point untapped crowds to motorsport is not a new one. From 2008 to 2010, the Superleague Formula attempted to pull off that marketing success. However, their investments went awry and the series (and interest in it) dried up.

In early 2016, working with the Best In The World brand on new concepts, Kay Lon thought up on digging out the idea and noted the major problem with the old Superleague Formula: if people want to watch football teams go against each other, they will watch football. Therefore, the decision was made to open the "new Superleague" to teams from all sports.

---------------

Now with that lovely piece of backstory out of the way, let's get down to business.
As explained above, this is the RWRS Canon's modern version of the Superleague Formula, only that it is open for clubs from all sports.

Race Calendar 2016-2017:
* Group Stage
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico: 12/13 November 2016
Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Mexico: 19/20 November 2016
Walt Disney World Speedway, United States: 7/8 January 2017
Walt Disney World Speedway, United States: 14/15 January 2017
Circuito de Jerez, Spain: 18/19 March 2017
Circuito de Jerez, Spain: 20/21 March 2017

* Finals
Akrotiri Bay International Circuit, Cyprus: 16/17 April 2017
Akrotiri Bay International Circuit, Cyprus: 23/24 April 2017
Oulton Park Circuit, United Kingdom: 27/28 May 2017
Oulton Park Circuit, United Kingdom: 7/8 June 2017

The precise concept of the championship will be revealed once sign-up is complete.
This is where you come in. Just fill out the following and you are ready to go:
Team Name: The organisation that is running the actual racing team

* Club #1
Club Name: The sporting club you represent
Nationality: Where the club is coming from?
Sport: Which sport does your club play?
Driver #1:
Driver #1 Nationality:
Driver #2:
Driver #2 Nationality:

* Club #2
Club Name:
Nationality:
Sport: Must be a different one than Club #1
Driver #1:
Driver #1 Nationality:
Driver #2:
Driver #2 Nationality:

Aside from what is mentioned in the formula, there are a few limitations on clubs and drivers: namely only one sport per club (e.g. Real Madrid can be either entered as football, basketball or handball team). In cases where there are questions about that rule, I'll decide on a case-to-case basis. As far as drivers go: you can pick anyone (real life or fictional) who is in shape to drive an open-wheeler car. With the restrictions for double dutying coming in at most serieses for 2017, I'd be very careful about using drivers who work in other series. Since, at least for the first year, all drivers will (like in RTSS) start on equal stats, this series is ideal for drivers whom have not turned out good anywhere or for rookies.

Alright, that's about it. If you got any questions, just ask away. There are 13 entries, i.e. 26 clubs.

Very inexperienced lineup with three rookies and a relatively obscure touring car driver. This should be fun.

If you are refering to the real Mr. Ardilles, as I presume you are, I am afraid I will have to call a stop to that. A 61-year old man without racing experience is slightly too much for me to believe and handle. ;)

Ok then, can he please be replaced by the Irishman, Robbie Keane?
Thanks

Alright, with two spots left (three if FMecha doesn't decide fast enough on a team), I will proceed to give some more details on the series.

*****
The Car
Sports X-Over Experience GP has signed a contract with MRT to use a modified version a former F1RWRS chassis, officially known as MRT M5 sXe, using a newly-developed Judd W8 engine with an output of 300 BHP.
Image
David Coulthard testing the MRT 5 sXe of S.E. Palmeiras
If you'd like to paint your clubs's cars, here is a template. Please do not change the rear wing and the colors on it and, as much as you are tempted to, leave the BITW logo be - we pay for most of this stuff, alright.

The Season
A sXe season starts with the "group stage", in which six groups (four of four and two of five) are drawn. Groups A-C and D-F will share one track during each group stage race. Each race in the group stage is a 100 km sprint race. Points are earned for both group finishing position and total finishing position.
The fastest club of a group in a race earns 3 points, the second-fastest club earns 2 points and the third-fastest earns 1 point. Seperately thereof, points are handed out to each driver according to finishing position (26 points for the winner, 25 points for the second-placed finisher etc.). At the end of the group stage the first two clubs of each group advance together with the two drivers who have the most individual points without their club advancing.
After that follow the four races of the "finals". The 26 cars who have advanced to the next round compete in four endurance races of 400 km, where each club scores points like drivers score in the group stage (the points of the drivers whoms clubs did not advance will be doubled) The club with the most points at the end of the finals are declared the 2016-2017 Emperors of Sports.
*****

Alright, now I'd like to ask for the following:
- Clubs that have no driver yet to name them ASAP
- Users that have not named a root organisation for their two clubs to do so
- Somone daring to get the final two entries.

This: no national teams!

And well, I've done an Arema livery long ago, but it is on the dead laptop. :|

The other team will be Indian cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders. :)

Actually there is one entry left. FMecha was right about the "no national teams" thing, though. So grab two sports clubs and you are in.

Nah, i don't know much about other sports than Association Football, so i'm leaving this one open for someone who's interested more. (of course, if nobody takes it before the series starts, i'd gladly try to find something)

Well, since nobody turned up so far I'd suggest you at least take one of the last two entries with an Association Football team. ;)

Well, since nobody turned up so far I'd suggest you at least take one of the last two entries with an Association Football team. ;)

Well, i'm going to be predictable (everybody following the football thread knows that i'm fan of Sint-Truiden VV), and considering i have no specific plans for the great KJS yet, this looks like a great opportunity!
To add some local flavour, i'll expand one of my virtual families, and hopefully he'll have the same qualifying speed as his cousin.

Club #1
Club Name: STVV
Nationality: Sint-Truiden, Belgium
Sport: Association Football
Driver #1: Kim-Jong Sung
Driver #1 Nationality: True Korean (North)
Driver #2: Roel Lamberigts
Driver #2 Nationality: Belgian

A livery would be yellow-blue and sponsoring of Jonagold Apples.
I don't know what i want and i want it now!

Noticing they don't have any drivers yet, Carsten Jancker expresses his interest in the FC Bayern Munchen seat!

As the sole chassis supplier of the series, we will not supply any cars to STVV unless they fix up their entry. It's not True Korea, it's Best Korea damnit :P

Alright, I have decided to change a certain detail of the series: for technical reasons, the series will from now on be run on xkoarante ... xkorante ... the tool nobody knows how to spell but is used by Ferrarist for his series.
The series itself won't change, really, and I would like everyone to finalise their entries by February 28.

Have you noticed my second team (Kolkata Knight Riders with Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok), Klon? ;)

Just to inform you: this is still going ahead, just like I am going to finish SARS. The problem is, right now, my time at the computer is extensive - but most of it (aside from goofing off in the chatroom) is used for university purposes. I hope to get the first sXe race going by the end of the month.
