Women's GT Junior Cup 2014/2015 - Season over!

Posted: 23 Mar 2014, 12:24
by Turbogirl
Introduction

Welcome aboard the Women's GT Junior Cup 2014 / 2015! In this winter series during the silly season between the Women's GT World Championships of 2014 and 2015, 20 factory teams will do battle for the European Championship title, this series has to offer.

Since this is also a young drivers development program, the 6 best drivers and race engineers plus the 3 best Technical Directors from this series will be granted a WDA World Championship licence, which makes them eligible to work for a team in the Women's GT World Championship.

WDA stands for Women Drivers Association, a department of the FIA organizing motorsports event and serieses for female drivers only. President of the WDA is Michele Mouton. The WDA has the last say when it comes to rules and regulations, which means, they follow the official FIA rules and regulations most of the time, but not all the time (like when it comes to car classifications, for example, as you'll see below).

Rules and Regulations (Game Mechanics)

1.) Eligible cars
Most eligible cars in this series are GT3 cars by definition. However, some manufacturers don't build GT3 cars, so all these cars below will be equalized by BoP (Balance of Performance), which in turn will help the Team Principals to spot a true driver talent behind the wheel much easier.
For this series, we will pretend, that each of these manufacturers has built the car and the engine themselves, although that's not the fact in real life.
Most of these factory teams are also part of the Women's GT World Championship, which allows players from that series to build up their own young drivers development program, if they want to.

To help all new players to identify, which team is still available, the teams that are already taken are marked RED.

Aston Martin V8 Vantage GTE
Audi R8 LMS
BMW Z4 GT3
Bugatti EB 110 GT
Chevrolet Corvette C6 Z06 GT2
Dodge (SRT) Viper GTS-R
Ferrari 458 Italia GT3
Ford GT3
Honda HSV-010
Jaguar XKR GT3
Lamborghini Gallardo LP600 GT3
Lotus Evora GTE
Maserati GranTurismo MC GT3
McLaren MP4/12C GT3
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3
Morgan Aero 8 GT3
Nissan Nismo GT-R GT3
Porsche 911 GT3
Toyota Supra GT500
Venturi GT3

2.) The official calendar of this season

Round 09 - Czech Republic (Masaryk Circuit)
Round 10 - Slovakia (Automotodrom Slovakia Ring)
Round 11 - Italy (Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari)
Round 12 - Master Trophy (Nürburgring, Germany)

3.) The Points System

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 40 points
3rd place - 35 Points
4th place - 30 Points
5th place - 26 Points
6th place - 22 Points
7th place - 18 Points
8th place - 15 Points
9th place - 12 Points
10th place - 9 Points
11th place - 7 Points
12th place - 5 Points
13th place - 3 Points
14th place - 1 point

No points are awarded for fastest lap or pole-position.

4.) Car Numbers
In the first season numbers will be given by date of entry. Whoever comes first, receives the numbers 0 / 2 etc. Since there isn't a drivers champion yet, number 1 remains unused. The "unlucky" number 13 will not be assigned.
After the first season, re-entering teams will receive car numbers according to their final standing in the last championship.

5.) Testing
None of the test sessions in the official race calendar are mandatory, except the pre-season test session. If teams decide to test new drivers, race engineers and Technical Directors during these test sessions, the rule "one race to get accustomed to his/her new job" does not apply.

6.) Qualification
A qualifying session is held before the race. All drivers with a lap time outside 105 % of the pole-position are not qualified and may not enter the race.
A maximum grid of 30 cars is allowed to enter each race. Every driver who doesn't make the grid, is listed as DNQ.

7.) Drivers

7.1.) Teamorder
You can set your drivers to First and Second Driver. Internally this means, when they happen to finish 1-2 in a race, your Second Driver has to let your First Driver pass, if she's in front at that time.
If you don't like Team Order, simply say so in your post and both of your drivers will get the code "X", which means, you treat them both equally.

7.2.) Level of Aggressiveness (LoA)
Your drivers can be set to 3 different levels: Aggressive (AGG), Moderate (MOD) and Defensive (DEF). If you don't do so, they'll always race at Moderate.

Aggressive (AGG) - Your driver will attack wherever possible and go to her and the cars limit in each race. Chance of driver errors and accidents is at maximum.

Moderate (MOD) - The default setting. Your driver will attack and defend if necessary. She will rarely go to her or the cars limit. Chance of driver errors and accidents is at normal.

Defensive (DEF) - Your driver will never attack on her own and only defend her current position. She'll never go to her or the cars limit. Chance of driver errors or accidents is at zero.

Unlike old PC games, you don't need to change the LoA before each race. Most of the time Moderate (MOD) will work perfectly for you. This also doesn't mean, that the settings are to be taken literally. Even if you set one driver to DEF, she will attack the car in front of her, if she really really gets the chance to do it safely.

The code I'll use looks either like this:

Car #14: Rahel Frey (1 / AGG)
Car #15: Natacha Gachnang (2 / MOD)

This means, that your drivers are set at First and Second Driver. Rahel is set at Aggressive (AGG) and Natacha at Moderate (MOD).

Or like this:

Car #14: Rahel Frey (X / AGG)
Car #15: Natacha Gachnang (X / MOD)

Same as the first example, only this time "X" indicates, that both drivers are treated equally by their teams.

8.) Miscellaneous
Because this is a young driver development program, this series doesn't feature upgrades, different fuel suppliers or different tyre suppliers, so that each player can figure out much better, how good his personnel is.
The standard tyre supplier for this series is Goodyear, the standard fuel supplier is Shell.

Entering a Team

Please follow the instructions below to enter your team. Then fill everything into the official entry format (also below) to ensure, your entry is complete and correct.

A.) Pick a Team Name and your alias as a Team Principal
Each team in this series is treated as a factory team by definition. But most factories have no resources to run both a World Championship Team and a Junior Team by themselves, so you are allowed to pick a fictional name for your operation, as long as it includes the name of the brand you're working for.

Examples: Audi Team ABT, BMW Junior Team, Ford Team Italy...

Your alias as a Team Principal can be real or fictional, male or female. If you chose a real person, make sure he / she will be alive and well in the Winter of 2014 / 2015 and please do not chose any person from the lists below as your Team Principal!

B.) Choose your car
Choose a car from the list above. If you already manage a team in the Women's GT World Championship, you may as well pick its counterpart in the Junior Cup as well.
Because I've pre-selected them for a reason, you can't choose a car that is not on the list.

C.) Choose your Technical Director
He/she is in charge of the technical staff. The capability of your Technical Director certainly plays an important role on the performance of your cars. Please pick only from this list. You may suggest other Technical Directors, but they are not allowed to partake in this season, because a strict evaluation process will be in need to determine, if they are eligible for a FIA Standard licence or rather a WDA World Championship licence.

Alright, we already have a "double booking" for race engineer James Key. I will collect all the team entries as they are posted right now, which means Key will appear in the entry lists of both Ferrari and Toyota. Once all entries have been made (see G. Deadline), I will start with the contracts (see H. RNG / D20).

Okay, I've started collecting data and stats on those three young ladies. From what I've seen so far, I can already tell you:

1.) Jamie Chadwick and Esmee Hawkey have just started in the Ginetta Cup (Chadwick in 2013, Hawkey this year), so they will be granted a FIA Standard Licence to partake in next year's Women's GT Junior Cup (2015 / 2016), because of their current lack of experience.

2.) Louise Richardson on the other hand is driving Ginettas since 2009 and has a rather impressive statistic to her name. She could be granted a WDA World Championship Licence to partake in next year's Women's GT World Championship (2015), if a current World Championship Team is willing to run a test with her in a GT1 car.

This test could either be held during next year's pre-season test session for the Women's GT World Championship or during this year's Junior Cup, specifically during the tests at Silverstone Circuit after the 4th Round. Louise would have to record a lap time within 105 % of last year's WCS qualifying records (1:58.792) to be granted a WDA World Championship Licence.

If such a test doesn't materialize, Louise will get the FIA Standard Licence for next year's Junior Cup (which would be a shame, actually, because she seems to have talent).

I've decided to assign numbers to all the race engineers who haven't been optioned by any other team yet and ran a RNG. The RNG assigned Claudio Balestri to Merced and Tony Ross to Jorda. Well, at least one of your race engineers speaks Italian then. :)

I'm sorry, but both Renee Gracie and Jeromy Moore have WDA World Championship Licences, which means they are not eligible for the Women's GT Junior Cup. They're also not on any of the lists above, so you'll have to pick again. Louise Richardson is only eligible for next season, because I'm currently collecting data and stats on her.

Rules and Regulations wrote:D.) Choose your drivers
Please pick only from this list. You may suggest other drivers, but they are not allowed to partake in this season, because a strict evaluation process will be in need to determine, if they are eligible for a FIA Standard licence or rather a WDA World Championship licence. You need two drivers.

East Londoner has already asked for Richardson, and I told him this (in case you might have missed it):

Women's GT Junior Cup - 6 Teams left to take!

With big names like Aston Martin, Ford, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Venturi, there are still 6 teams available for any curious player! :)

Also, tristan 1117 still has to confirm his entry as the Honda Junior Team and needs to fill in the entry format to make his entry valid.

Turbo, I'll run the merc junior team, but can I give you the details tonight? I'm a bit swamped at the moment.

Sure, take your time. I'll reserve Team Mercedes for you. :)

I'm not going to run the Porsche junior team, because I'm already involved in many series. However, Porsche would like to give Louise Richardson the chance to test their GT1 car.

Alright. When do you want to give her the opportunity? During the Silverstone tests for the Junior Cup or during the pre-season tests for next year's Women's GT World Championship? :)

Since I'm not going to run the junior team, the test will be part of the World Championship pre-season tests.

Good, I've registered that. I had to ask, because if more teams should want to grant Louise such a test, I'll run an RNG to determine, which offer she accepts under which conditions.

Would it be possible for us to run additional drivers in the preseason test sessions Turbogirl?

Sure, there is no rule against that. To figure out, if you've made the best possible decision in hiring whom you've hired, I suppose? ;)

But let's stay realistic here. Not that any of you assigns 10+ drivers to the pre-season tests. How about a maximum of four drivers each team?

Well in that case, the Dodge SRT Racing Team would like to run the following drivers in the pre-season tests:
Car #18 - Madalena Antas and Tiffany Chittenden
Car #19 - Hayley Swanson and Alison MacLeod

Thanks :)

Well, I only had 2 drivers in mind to compare to Ahlin-Kottulinsky and Pruett.

One of them is Veronica Valverde. The other is Marguerite Laffite. We'll have Mikaela and Veronica in Car #9, and Laffite and Pruett in Car #10 for both days.

Which would be the maximum of four drivers I was talking about. The two you have plus two additional ones. Maybe I should have said that right away, now that I think about it...

Seeing as the deadline for valid entries is getting closer (Thursday the 27th, 12 pm (CET)), tristan1117 and Wallio still need to fill in the entry format to confirm their entries for the Junior Cup.

Also, there are still 5 Teams left for the taking, if anyone should be interested! :)
