SRMP, February 1981 issue wrote:Nurmester to jump ship to Shadow?

Although Thomas Nurmester looks to be set to drive with Tyrrell in the 1981 Formula One season, recent rumours circulating around him are implying that he's still looking at other options despite already signing a contract. Our sources are claiming that he's already looking for a way to get out of his Tyrrell contract and sign with Shadow, who still haven't got anyone lined up for their race seats and are apparently very interested in signing Nurmester.

We were unable to contact Nurmester, Tyrrell or Shadow regarding this question.

Okay, here's the last of the RNGs. I'll just write up the race seat RNGs, I did run the test/reserve RNGs, but the full details aren't too interesting :P

Chico Serra
Signs with Tyrrell 1-70
Declines 71-100
100! (This actually happened)

Eliseo Salazar
Signs with Tyrrell 1-80
Declines 81-100
8! - Tyrrell have a second driver

Jochen Mass
Signs with March 1-60
Retires from Formula One 61-70
Declines 71-100
28!

RNGs in short:

Tyrrell second driver: Eliseo Salazar
March second driver: Jochen Mass
McLaren second driver: Derek Warwick
Spirit reserve: Hans Heyer
Ligier reserve: Brian Henton
March reserve: Gianfranco Brancatelli
March test: Geoff Lees

Toleman need to nominate a driver for their reserve seat, in accordance with Article 1.2.6. of the regulations

In other news....

AutoSport wrote:Nurmester Confirmed At Shadow

Shadow Racing have officially confirmed that ex-Tyrrell and Osella driver Thomas Nurmester will be joining the team for the 1981 Formula One Season. Nurmester - who has been dubbed the 'Monaco Messiah' for his fantastic results in the principality - is widely regarded as one of the upcoming talents in Formula One, and an essential signing in the eyes of some to replace the outgoing Stefan Bellof, who moves to world champions Lotus.

Also.... Engine Construction

The time has come for engine manufacturers to submit their engine plans. There are 3 attributes to an engine:

Horsepower: Fairly self-explanatory.
Lifetime Average: The average amount of time for which an engine will last, in seconds.
Lifetime Variable: This value, +/- the lifetime average, defines the range in seconds in which an engine may explode.

These variables can be upgraded throughout the season by manufacturers. Manufacturers must choose one of the following RNG/ Upgrade plans, which will determine the default stats of the engine and the amount of upgrades each manufacturer is permitted to make each season. Upgrades too will be dealt with by RNG, and will be explained at a later date along with chassis upgrades.

RNG/Upgrade plans (Upgrades/BHP range/LifetimeAvg/LifetimeVar)

Tier 1 // 4 // 600-670 // 3500-7000 // 2600-5000
Tier 2 // 3 // 610-685 // 3000-6500 // 2600-4500
Tier 3 // 2 // 620-700 // 2500-6000 // 2600-4000

All RNG/Upgrade choices must be in by Friday, 25th April.

Well that was unexpected. Sure, I'd love to take over Ferrari. :)

Zakspeed confirm their participation in the 1981 Formula One World Championship season.
Didier Pironi is confirmed as the team's first driver. Valentino Nicchi will drive the second car (if the person who owns his DEC agrees). Beppe Gabbiani will be the reserve driver.

I'm not surprised about anything.
