2017 GTR WC: SGP Entries

Post by RealRacingRoots »

With the SGP right around the corner, it's time to open up to one-off entries for the premiere race in the GTR Calendar. A total of 45 cars will make up the grid, comprised of the 31 full-time entries, and the top 14 finishers from a Pre-Qualifying race on the Thursday. The Pre-Q Grid will be comprised of a majority of the Part-Time cars, exluding the cars that had DEC-Obtainable drivers, and one-off cars that have their entry accepted here. Below is the basic entry form.

Team: Team Name - Nationality
Car: Chosen Car - Number (Must be between 100-199)
Driver 1: Driver Name - Nationality
Driver 2: Driver Name - Nationality

Cars That Can Be Entered:
Chrysler Viper GTS-R
Ferrari 575 GTC
Lister Storm GT
IF you can make a good case, you may be able to get another car on the homologation list.

One of the drivers MUST be a Silver/Bronze Rank as per the GTR Ratings System.

Limit to one car per user, even if you already have two cars in the series. If you do have two cars, or three if you are Biscione :P, they can not be from the same team as the other cars. If a part-time team wants to change cars for the SGP, please let me know and make a case for the car you want to change to, it doesn't have to be one of the three cars above.

Next post will have the Entry List for the Pre-Q Race, you can start sending me your liveries and driver ratings. If you don't want your Part-Time Car participating, please let me know.

If you actually read the whole thing, good job! Now get entering.

For the Super GP, Anita Horford's place will be taken by Kay Lon. Outside of that, any Best In The World driver is available to hire for one-off entries, if said entries wish to do so.

The #24 Trueba Ferrari team wish to continue into the Super GP, but this time plan to use the 550M that has been sitting in HQ unsold since last season's championship effort when the team was still owned and controlled by IBR. Also, the team's lineup will change slightly, with Cinotti dropped and replaced by Tristan Jung, with Jans Zeitner continuing as the co-pilot.

Given Trueba will soon be upgrading to the MC12, the 575 was of no use to them any longer, and was sold off to Renzo, who hope to enter the Super GP with it.

Team: Renzo (ITA)
Car: Ferrari 575 GTC
Driver 1: Marco Bizzarri (ITA)
Driver 2: Oliviero Cinotti (ITA)

Also, where are the championship standings?

(Also, the Lister's Template is not complete from the .zip file on the first post. I can only edit the wings, not the body...)

Does that answer your question Fantomette?

Also Getz, re-read the entry post to see why your entry is pending. Also haven't you checked the other Lister Storm Template?

Luxray bought out Aero Kings, Aero Kings almost exclusively ran the Brunos. To a point where they could be called the owner/drivers of the team before Luxray bought them out and let them be in North America, including a short ARST campaign in a Lycoia for Ernest..

This arguement you instigated gets neither of us anywhere. Nothing is gained here, no one is getting hurt. It's posturing for the sake of posturing for a race that you are running which will include these drivers that no one will claim again.

Move along, and focus on things that are worthwhile.

Autosprint wrote:Van Nifterick, Redman join works Maserati programme

Former GT-R World Championship frontrunner Franck van Nifterick will return to the series in which he made his name, becoming a member of the factory Maserati programme, along with former F1RWRS driver and endurance specialist Simon Redman.

Van Nifterick has impressed many onlookers in tin-tops, taking Independent class honours in the series in 2016 before a failed venture into the abortive ACO Le Mans Cup. However, the move still seems a shrewd acquisition for Maserati, given his previous form at the wheel of GT cars, as well as winning the Toyota Reject Racing Series trophy following his GTRWC success.

Meanwhile, Redman, who was also scheduled to compete in the same series for the works NISMO team, will bring his vast experience to the lineup. It is not yet clear whether Redman will partner van Nifterick, or if the duo will spearhead the lineup of each of the two works cars respectively.

It is expected the duo will replace Rafael Modena and James Davies, with Davies rumoured to be heading to a new team for next season, while Modena has fallen out of favour with his team once again after more erratic performances.

Sunday in Malaysia

Weather: Persistent Heavy Rain

Race Results:

Image

Fastest Lap - Car 91 (Globex Scorpio Lister - Hirvonen/Simmons) - 2:02.612

Cars 6 (Gulf Saleen - Davidson/Bizzarri) and 62 (Rosenforth Pagani - Zimmer/Stern) will finish classified as they completed 90% of the race winner's distance.

The Positives:

*GP Racing: While the pair of factory Listers were not the fastest cars on track, their pit strategy and pit crews were more than up to the task to allow them to jump the early leaders after the first stops and the 28 Vittore Ferrari at the second stop to give them a 1-2 on the road with 30 minutes remaining. This lead would would last the rest of the race as David Simmons never got the chance to mount an attack on the cars ahead with the Alexandre-Laurent Voeckler-driven Ferrari slowly starting to fade by the end. It's the shot in the arm the British manufacture needed in in the Manufacture's Title picture now with only three races remaining.

*Asim Adhikari and Marlin Hortin: While through the first stint Asim only gained five positions due to the hectic nature of the first stint, it was the middle and latter third of the race where the venerable duo finally got into their stride. Above average pit strategy and their typical rock solid place when they got the free air they needed saw them slowly climb through the field and into the Independant Class lead for a while. A perfect 19 on their Independant's Trophy might not have been out of reach if they managed a decent qualifying performance the day before, but gaining seventeen positions over a two hour race is still a great performance nevertheless.

*David Simmons: While the Globex Scorpio crew did a great job to get their Customer Lister clear of a portion of the mid-field through the first round of pit stops, it was David Simmons performance behind the wheel for the rest of the race that put everyone on notice. The American would start the second stint in Sixtenth Position and would end up Fourth by passing people like Davies, McKenna, (Joel) Melrose, Wong, Stern, Valenti, Carvill and Hortin for the Independant's Class lead before pitting for the second and final time. The Globex Scorpio pit crew did a fantastic job allowing Simmons to jump both Solvalou Lamborghinis through the pit stop, leaving only both GP Listers and the Voeckler/Valenti Ferrari ahead of the American late in the race. The five second deficit to the Ferrari would evaporate and the pass for third was made with five minutes to go, but it would be apparent that Simmons used the most of his car in getting him and Nikolas Hirvonen on the poidum and never put up a fight against the Factory Listers even though he did close the gap to them by the time the Two Hour timed race was completed. What David Simmons did behind the wheel at Sepang, during a torrential rainstorm no less, will go down as the drive the year, and the epitome of the Infinately Inprobable Drive of the Race.

The Negatives:

*Frédéric-Maxime Voeckler: A sloppy attempt at an overtake at turn 6 on David Simmons early into the second stint left the Factory Masterati driver sliding into the sand trap, with very little chance at recovering into a decent position. With seeing how well the Customer Lister ended up, one could only think what could have been if the Frenchman put a little more gusto into one overtake.

*Rosenforth Engineering's Pit Strategy: While they started First and Fourth, and maintained those positions throughout the first stint, they found themselves struggling after pitting later than most of their competitors during the first round of pit stops, leaving Mike Stern in tenth after pit stops cycled out and Jimmy Rosenforth not faring too much better. The Kickert/Rosenforth duo would nearly recover from the bad pit strategy to score a point, but not enough attrititon would come from ahead of them, and the Zimmer/Stern duo had a merciful exit with yet another mechanical failure.

*Dawn Granger and Aramis Santon: Slowest on pace by quite a margin. While the rest of the backmarkers had similar pace and were able to tussle with each other at times, the 51 Lister dropped of the back of the group and was never to be seen again. They would be the only car to see the chequered flag one lap down, earning them the Reject of The Race.

China Pre-Qualifying

Weather: Hazy and Dry

Qualifying Results:

Image

Race Results:

Image

Fastest Lap - Car 11 (Best In The World Lamborghini - Anita Horford) - 1:29.210
The Top 17 Finishing cars will advance to the main race weekend, regardless of if they are classified or not.

Penalty Report:

Car 41 (Best In The World Lamborghini - Asim Adhikari) has been assessed a 15 second penalty for causing an avoidable collision with Car 5 (Belgio Ferrari - Gia van Dycke).

Main Talking Points of The Race:

*Asim Adhikari blew a perfectly good opportunity to put one hand on the Independant's Trophy with Marlin Hortin during the Pre-Q Race. The Nepalese driver took a overly-optimistic dive onto the Inside Kerb at Turn 7 on Gia Van Dycke when it was obvious there wasn't a lane and clobbered the right-rear corner of the Ferrari, forcing the Belgian into a three-quarter spin. While Gia would continue, the Lamborghini would book it into the distance while the field behind had to check up to take potentially evasive action.

*With the penalty to the leader in the Independant's Trophy, it allowed the Onyx Saleen of Milan Vukovic to take a perfect 4 point result from the Pre-Qualifying Session: 1 for Pole and 3 for the Victory. The Croation would come to blows with Gia van Dycke on numerous occasions during the 30 minute sprint race, but a clean pass at turn 7 with what would be two laps remaining would allow the Saleen driver to drop the pack behind with Gia starting to struggle on worn tires.

*John Magnus, driving for the struggling Aeroracing Engineering, put in his best performance of the season. Since losing the contract to run the Customer Chevy Corvette to Pulsar, the Spainish team has struggled to put in consistent performances with the Ferrari 575 GTC; on this occoasion the American got the most out of his equipment and put his car right into the hornets nest that is the front of the field. He would not bow out into the race and even found himself third on the road after the penalty to Adhikari was taken into account before Anita Horford would pass Magnus at the turn 9-10 complex. Both Aeroracing cars will compete in the rest of the weekends formalities, a good result for a team whose future is in doubt.

Notes from Friday and Saturday:

*There is a lot of animosity among some of the full-time teams in the GTR WC Paddock after the directive from the GTR Commission was released during travel week between Malaysia and China relating to the Kyalami 9 Hour endurance race. Showing the most hostility were brothers Frédéric-Maxime and Jérémy-Étienne Voeckler, after it had become apparent that they were one of the targets of this directive with the Trueba Racing Team, a team that they own after the Voeckler clan bought out the Il Barone Rampante conglomerate at the end of 2016. The other high profile target of the directive was Karl Lichter Shultz's Union Saver Developments. The potential ramifications of the directive could potentially leave the 2016 World Champions and the teams who run the factory Maserati and Chevrolet teams out of the sport.

*Part-Time Entrant and GT Asia Series team Team LKM makes their second appearance in the full GTR weekend in Zhuhai, China after another strong performance in the Pre-Qualifying race from Carlton Cho. These races are the team's debut on the international stage after being one of the top teams in the GT Asia Series with their pair of Lamborghini Huracan GT3s. While knowing that they won't be near the top with the added competition, that extra challenge that they face is something that the team is welcoming with open arms; the team has already confirmed that they will be entering the Super GP Pre-Q race in November, before a potential Full-Time bid in 2018.

(You lot can still enter cars for the SGP Pre-Q race...)

*Frank Zimmer took his leading fifth pole position of the season, tying the mark set by Ricardo Llosa last year. Zimmer would be the only one to break into the 27s in the session with his two best laps, the other being a 1:27.936 would be more than enough to secure pole even with everyone improving their best times late in the session with fresh tires.

The Positives:

*Ricardo Llosa and Jordan McKenna: The reigning champions refuse to go quietly into that good night; with the pair of them gaining a combined 5 seconds over both of their in laps compared to the second place finishing Solvalou Lamborghini. Even with 02 pitting a lap ahead on both of the pit cycles, their pace on fresh tires and decisiveness around lapped cars proved too much for the other title protagonists to handle. Even as Llosa suffered a late race scare with contact with the LKM Lamborghini, as they made a late decision to pit and retire their car, the noticeable front-end damage wasn't enough to stop them from getting the full 15 points, even if Aurelien Moll would insist that all he needed was one more lap to make the pass happen.

*Nathan Scott and Heizo Takekawa: The round in China proved to be the last gasp in the Independent's Trophy as the third placed driver pair did everything in their power to keep their hopes alive. The pair were perfectly comfortable battling with the Factory teams and Heizo kept the pressure on the cars ahead throughout the middle stint and were rewarded in kind with a haul of 12 points and keeping their hopes alive, as slim as they may be.

*Roland Davidson and Antonio Bizzarri: A up and down season hit what will probably be the highest peak for Gulf Racing. The team that is at times struggling to Pre-Qualify and perform consistently if they do Pre-Qualify finally got a result that they felt they deserved; they kept their nose clean and ran at their own pace and got their best finish of the year in the Independent Class. The boost in team morale is something that they desperately needed as they head to Japan to end the season, earning them the Infinitely Improbable Drive of The Race.

The Negatives:

*Tommy Douglas and Joel Melrose's Engine: Minarae weren't the only one who put everything on the line in China with the Independent's Title at stakes. Second place in the championship was runner up from last year Tommy Douglas and co-driver Joel Melrose, they were also running the gauntlet just to keep the Championship alive. Through good pace and pit-strategy, they found themselves in second place in class, which would have earned them more than enough points to keep the hopes alive; that is, if the engine didn't expire on the final lap. The engine died on the exit of turn 7, leaving Douglas no chance of making it home and all chances of doing one position better than last year out of the question...

*Marlin Hortin: ...although it must be said the BITW crew nearly cracked under the pressure of winning the championship. While Asim Adhikari did everything in his power to climb up the pack to undo the damage he did in qualifying, It was all thrown away as soon as Marlin got busted for speeding in the pit lane, even if they weren't alone in that regard with Gonzalo Solari also getting busted for speeding. The only way they were going to make progress would be through pit strategy, which was enough to score them 2 points in the Independent's Trophy, although they should be thanking their lucky stars that two Independent runners ahead, the Onyx and JLD Saleens, retired when they did.

This leaves the 41 BITW crew on 94 Points, and the Minarae crew on 60 with 34 points left on the table at Suzuka and the High Speed Ring. Even if the 41 BITW Lamborghini fails to finish in the three remaining points races, with the Minarae scoring the maximum 34 points, the main tie-breaker (Pre-Q Victories) would still fall on the side of Asim Adhikari and Marlin Hortin. So for all intents and purposes, we have crowned our Independent's Champions in China, with Asim Adhikari and Marlin Hortin taking the title with two races to spare.

*Gerald Pereria-Pan Asia Alliance: Riding high from a dominant display in Malaysia which saw Lister lock out the podium, the factory Squad looked like they were going to continue their surge to a Manufacture's Championship in Malaysia, with both cars being in the Top 5 throughout the race. Trouble started to brew as the race reached two-third's distance with their leading car smoking heavily from the exhaust. It was only a matter of time before the engine would let go, and it indeed would 5 laps after the issue developed, even with Ryota Wong trying everything in his power to limp the car home. But a bigger hammerblow to their hopes would be the sudden brake failure and violent crash suffered by Owen Carvill 8 laps after their lead car expired. GP Racing have a lot of work ahead of them in the three weeks before Suzuka to recover from what was a Reject of The Race worthy performance in China.

Saturday Weather: Light Cloud but Dry

The Qualifying results can be found in the RejectSport Report.

Notes from Friday and Saturday:

*It was revealed by GT-R Series Commissioner Terrance Carter Saturday morning that an initial dialogue had been opened up with the Markus Mk. Co., organizers of the Kyalami 12 Hour race. After it had come apparent that the Markus Mk. Co, didn't adhere to contracts set in place between Manufactures, Teams, and the GT-R Series itself and was essentially done without any request for the entries to adhere to the contracts in place. "I had a 30 minute talk with one of the Markuses over the phone, it was the first time that they've actually engaged us in conversation, which is good..." Carter said in an impromptu interview at the Suzuka Circuit, "...but it was clear to me that they don't understand, or have made an attempt to understand, the consequences of their actions." It is expected that a update on the situation will come during the Super GP race weekend.

*GT Asia Series team Toshio Race Team, making their debut in the GT-R WC this weekend, suffered a Gearbox failure part way through the Practice session Friday afternoon and were only able to retrieve their Ferrari 575 GTC about two and a half hours after the session ended due to the AutoReject 3.5 series having their split practice sessions right after GTR's. They finished the gearbox replacement about a hour before qualfying using the gearbox that was used by the Kiwi Racing 575 during Pre-Qualifying since they didn't have a spare themselves.

*While only 40 cars are set to partake in the weekends proceedings, an additional 16 GTR cars are in the paddock this weekend in preparation for the Super GP test set to take place during the week after the race. Included in the list is 7 entries that will be making their season debut; two of them, Blokkmonsta and Baasch Auto Sport making their intention known that they plan to be racing in the series in some capacity next season in separate press releases.

Sunday in Japan

Weather: Clear and Dry

The full Race Report and Results can be found at RejectSport.

Fastest Lap – Car 1 (Union Saver Corvette – Llosa/McKenna) – 1:52.778

Car 5 (Belgio Ferrari - Van Dycke/Munari) has been assessed a 15 Second Penalty for causing an avoidable collision with Car 56 (CWG Corvette - Older Jr./Shidehara).

Car 3 (DSCity Maserati - Modena/Davies) has been assessed a 15 Second Penalty for causing an avoidable collision with Car 6 (Gulf Saleen - Davidson/Bizzarri).

The Positives:

*Union Saver Developments: Played the right cards at the right time and secured a dominant 1-2 with one race to go.

*Darren Older Jr. and Ito Shidehara: Nearly untouchable as the best Independent entry of the weekend. A bump in the road like getting spun wasn't gonna stop these Part-Timers.

*Gulf Racing: Instead of gaining positions through attrition, they gained them through the boldest strategy out of everyone. It nearly got them the class victory too, if their tires weren't shot by the end. Infinitely Improbable Drive of the Race goes to them.

The Negatives:

*Rafael Modena: Blew a much needed 6th place result for the Maserati MC12 by spinning the Gulf Saleen at the Hitachi Chicane on the last lap when they left the door wide open on the inside for the pass.

*Fabian Rei and Ryota Wong's Engine: Can you feel the championship slipping through their fingers yet? Two engine failures in a row is a major blow to their bid.

*Stefan Kuntz: You tried too hard to make up ground after you spun yourself out at turn 1 of lap one, you ended up doing more harm than good to the car, and your title hopes. The highest you got after spinning was 27th, before the suspension gave up after you tried to run the Luxrays and the Toshios of the world off the track. When trying isn't enough, there is always the Reject Of The Race.

Oooooooooookay, so between the round of Japan and the Super GP is the test for all those who are in the Super GP Qualifying Race. The Qualifying Race is to determine who advances to the rest of the weekend's proceedings akin to the Pre-Q races, the catch is that this race is for the Part-Time and One-Off entries only. All 31 Full-Time entries are already entered into the Super GP, and the others are racing for the final 14 grid spots to complete the 45 Car grid at the High Speed Ring.

The test is done at Suzuka Circuit in the same style as the Pre-Season Test; two sessions each day, one for race trim and qualifying trim, with starting drivers in the cars for Day One, and the second drivers in the cars for Day Two.

So before I can get started, I am missing some ratings for a few drivers. You guys got until July the 13th to get them in or the car that they are driving is out of the Super GP.

Link to Ratings details: http://gprejects.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=7045&start=120#p317748

Here are the drivers that are missing Ratings:
If you are fine with me doing the Ratings let me know.

Vidal Reyna-Sanchez
Antonio Reyna-Sanchez
Marco Bizzarri
Oliviero Cinotti

Kay Lon (He's not in the Test, but I still need his Ratings for the SGP itself)

Maserati Withdraw Factory Support for 2018

On the eve of the biggest race of the year for the GT-R WC, Maserati has announced that they are pulling their Factory support of the Delacroix-Serrano team for the 2018 season. After a difficult campaign for the team which successfully ran the Ferrari 550 Maranello the season prior, Maserati will be focusing on testing a highly revised version of the MC12 GT1 that raced this year before returning in full force for 2019.

"It was a trying year for us," said Roberto Bozzi, Sales & Marketing Motorsport Manager for Maserati, "but we've learned a lot in the last twelve months that will help us over the next twelve and beyond. When we return, we will be ready for the task at hand."

Regardless if Maserati support teams or not, they have confirmed that the three examples of the MC12 GT1 that have already been built, two that will be raced by Delacroix-Serrano at the High Speed Ring and a spare chassis, will still be eligible to be raced in 2018 with Maserati supplying spares for those parties that are interested.

GTR Series Commissioner Terrance Carter Delivers State of The Series Address

Kagoshima, Japan. (October 21, 2017) - "The beginning of something big," was the theme of the Thirty Minute Address made by GTR Series Commissioner Terrance Carter at his official State of The Series Address for the soon to be re-branded GTR WC.

It was one of the main talking points from the American during the address, the GTR WC will become the Rolex GT Super Series from 2018 onward, withseries current partner Rolex SA procuring naming rights of the series for the foreseeable future. The new logo for the series was debuted alongside the official watch that will be given to overall race winners in 2018.

Image

"We're very enthusiastic to have series partners who are as enthusiastic about this series as we are, and want to share that with others," Carter Proclaimed, "they (Rolex) aren't the only ones either, with our current partners all continuing our co-operations into the long term."

That wasn't the only thing that made it's debut, as two new vehicles to be raced in the GT Super Series in 2018 were unveiled in front of the Press, with Series Champions Ricardo Llosa and Jordan McKenna unveiling the new Chevrolet Corvette C6.R in Union Saver Development colors, and Aston Martin Racing Team Principal John Gaw and Gulf Racing driver Roland Davidson unveiling the Aston Martin DBR9 in Gulf Racing colors, to some contention from the crowd. This contention came from the fact that a DBR9 is on the entry list for the Eskom Kyalami 9 Hour event, with Rob Lomas Racing set to run two examples at the event in early December.

"This is a pressing issue that we and Aston Martin have been working to resolve. AMR have never been in Contact with Rob Lomas Racing to have them race the car as a part of the car's development before it's GT Super Series debut or anything. It's a part of the pressing issues with the Kyalami 9 Hour."

Terrance Carter doubled-down on the present conflict with the Eskom Kyalami 9 Hour stating that the regulations in place haven't been ratified to let teams in GTR race in the GT1 class of other events with cars homologated with the Commission without permission, with all the assets needed to run in the series will be seized if they do not comply. The dialogue that was started by both organizing bodies that had opened during the Suzuka GTR weekend has apparently broken down, with the Markus Mk. Co allegedly not returning any calls
made by the GTR Commission.

"It's disappointing, but I'm not entirely surprised it came to this. A lot of the teams involved in the rash of newer series across the world are these super-teams with massive employee counts and even bigger budgets. They are non-committal in everything they do, entering new ventures without much fear or potential contingency plan if something doesn't go their way. I want the teams in the GT Super Series to be invested in the series. The manufactures and partner brands involved are invested in the series and see the beginning of something big with this series, and I want the teams to it see that too."

The series saw growth in its TV Ratings through it's partnership with ESPN and its subsidiaries and increase in attendance for locales in their second year hosting the series, with locales that were hosting the series for the first time were thrilled at the attendance numbers and openness the series has with fans across the globe.
The series expects continued growth with Terrance Carter calling 2018 their, "biggest and most important" season yet and "only the beginning of something big" and would talk about other analytics related to the series growth before closing out with the announcement of the 2018 Calendar, with one location to be announced.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote:GT-R teams file EU anti-competition complaint in response to Carter statement

The immediate reaction to GT-R restructuring into the 2018 season, where it will morph into the Rolex GT Super Series, has been anything but positive. In a shock twist, a group of current GT-R teams have filed an anti-competition complaint with the EU.

The shock comes from the stature of the teams involved, with three manufacturer teams putting forward their grievances to Brussels. Chevrolet, Ferrari and Maserati, operated by Union Saver Developments, Scuderia Vittore and Voeckler GPE respectively, are the primary teams involved in the investigation request to the EU, whilst joining them as co-signatories are independent squads Kjellerup, Valerian and Trueba.

Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler, the CEO of the eponymous racing conglomerate, highlighted how Carter's comments had done the exact opposite of their intention.

"He decided to take a pot shot at the large teams that had invested millions into developing a properly funded sportscar programmes, saying we were hurting our marques commitments to the sport," he explained. "But then he goes on to demand complete exclusivity for his series from any marque that enters a car into it, and expects them to be content committing those same millions to such a narrow portfolio. It's economically unfeasible."

He put the blame for Maserati culling the works funding at Carter's doorstep, highlighting the genuine reasons for their withdrawal not being clear until now.

"There were problems with the car development, this we admit without any qualms," he continued. "But we were gearing up for a massive development push. To keep putting the hard graft in at the factory, to commit time and resources to the problem. We were making a point of spinning off the GT program to a separate facility to ensure it had the best chance of success going forward. Then, the call came."

"Now the reason is obvious. Why would Maserati want to bankroll development to a car, knowing it would be unable to see it compete anywhere other than a single series? The series management has driven one of its major backers out of the sport in the space of a year."

Scuderia Vittore owner and team principal Jose Braggia alluded to those very issues in his own statement, explaining how Ferrari's vast GT programme has succeeded thanks to the versatility of its equipment.

"I guarantee Ferrari will have no part in GT-R in the future if they insist on exclusivity," he asserted. "Ferrari has built its sportscar reputation on the adaptability of its GT products, on their ability to be raced almost anywhere by almost anyone. No single series is deserving of Ferrari's full, undivided attention."

"These comments are made even more worrying in the element of delusion to them. The FIA is responsible for homologating cars, not series organisers of GT and sportscar championships. You can have a list of cars you do and don't wish to see in your series, like the ACO do, but you cannot require a car on the homologation list to compete in your series, and your series alone. It isn't feasible or sustainable."

The last signatory to make a statement at time of going to press was Giovanni Roda, the outspoken team principal of Trueba Racing Team. His team will enter the Kyalami 9 Hours, with the same pair of Maserati MC12s raced by Delacroix-Serrano in GT-R this year, and is far from impressed by Carter's comments.

"This idiot, he runs his mouth, and now we have no entry in GT for next season," said the controversial Italian. "We were assuming the day-to-day running of the Maserati team next year. Now this contract is gone thanks to Carter."

"This moron, what is he doing? He is creating an atmosphere where nobody can commit to anything, because who knows what stupidity might come out in a crazy, grandiose press release. It almost seems like he lets a woman in her time of the month do press releases for him. Complete lunacy."

"Will we still go to Kyalami? Absolutely. Right now it's an event that's keeping hands on deck, keeping staff busy and employed. Why the GT-R commission wants to see these people made redundant, I don't understand. Maybe they can pay for their severance packages, given they will have caused their unemployment."

Pulsar will withdraw with immediate effect.

It's absolutely ridiculous that people are getting pinged for daring to enter another series, and I find it even more hypocritical that such a stance is being taken when the series owner can't even finish a series over two years after it started.

Rootsy, I understand that you don't like the "superteam" nature of series entries, but you can't just go kicking out people like this for no real reason; it's not fair.

Ooooookay, so now that there has been a bit of time for me to digest what has happened, it's high time I actually say what needs to be said. A lot has been said that may or may not be how I would've liked to have it be interpreted (understatement, I know) and has lead to some rather concerning developments simply because not everyone knows what is or was going on at various times. So, here we go.

*The first that came across to me is the nature of the counter-attack that was made to something that wasn't penned as an attack in the first place. It was penned as a lot of things but a declaration of war it was not: the culmination of storylines, the introduction of new fixtures and more-or-less show the intention that, yes, 2018 is going to happen for the GT Super Series. Firing back with the equivalent to firing off the first Atomic Bomb in a Sid Meier's Civilization game speaks volumes to me about how serious this is all being taken and the scale of investment by some. This is beyond silly. At the end of the day, this is still a longform game about a bunch of fake racing series that have or used to have the word Reject in them. Storyline is good because it adds depth beyond just watching virtual race cars being driven by robots senselessly, but you can't just throw your toys out of the pram at the first thought that something isn't going your way, regardless of who you are and who the attack may be against.

*Now, about the issues relating to the Kyalami 9 Hour. The issues kicked off when Axel was talking about the various ideas he had for the carsets that would be used. First he started with using Group C cars, but was universally panned being that it is 2018 and someone was probably going to die considering the reputation that preceded Axel, with like 3 cars out of 30 finishing a Indycar race at Phoenix and all among other things. The ideas that started to revolve among everyone included using touring cars, gt cars, and/or a combination of both in a Creventic-style endurance event. When he did settle on the GT1/Super 2000 two class structure I asked him to not use the GT1 cars and use either GT3 or 2 because they would add more options for those who want to be involved and to leave GTR, a series trying to be top tier in tin tops, as its own thing. So obviously, he ignored that request and went on doing his own thing. This has been eluded to in some of the news clippings over the last few race weekends with that story being translated into how it probably would turn out in the ASMF universe.

As for a in-storyline reason for the initial directive and potential resulting loses of entry? It comes down to a licensing/exclusivity agreement that is made between the series and the collective of manufactures. The manufactures want this to be a premiere place to showcase their Halo cars, promote their brands, and for manufactures and other companies to develop new tech to be used in cars while doing it in a environment they can be comfortable in. The cost of having it be in a environment they can be comfortable in is the whole exclusivity part; the manufactures can't have something that makes them look bad, ya know? It mirrors what is prominently is done by the likes of Ferrari, Porsche and the FOM when it comes to licensing their products to be used in real life in various products, as does the penalties for those who don't toe the party line. You don't stay in line with what they want, you don't get the right to come play, unless a compromise/agreement is made; with the former being what has transpired. No one is being attacked here, there was no bluff to call; it just so happens that one of the users caught up in this happens to run the biggest empire of the lot, while one was 2016 GTR champions (using a Viper in Kyalami for some reason), with the other probably not mattering as much since that team has bigger fish to fry in 2018. I am not stopping anyone from entering anything, I just want some common decency with the goings on around here regardless of who you are. The fact that I have to go this far to explain everything when all of this could have been easily prevented speaks volumes to the different levels of commitment shown in the ASMF.

*So, the elephant in the room. The Empires, The Super-Teams, The Racing Groups, whatever you want to call them. Firstly, I want to say that calling it a pot-shot only works in the context of the Italian media trying to protect one of their sacred cows. Pot-shot implies that it's a backhanded comment that was made without much effort to elaborate on what it was made. Terrance Carter elaborated why the Super-Teams might not match up with the vision he and the manufactures have in the series by basically saying that they have vested interest in so much different stuff that they don't have any vested interest in anything above and beyond what they're doing for the other series they are in. Now, as RealRacingRoots, I'm not a fan of them because it's a easy way to kick-off a oligarchy in every series that comes and goes in the ASMF, providing easy intimidation for anyone who even has a peek at what is going on inside and a easy way to abuse other users on your way to the top. I think it's clunky and goofy when trying to put some realism to whats going on, with how much resources some teams put just into one real life racing series, not twenty six. Some teams doing multiple series makes sense: like a Top-teir open wheel team doing the step directly below in the ladder (Andretti doing Indycar and Indylights) as a means to better evaluate potential new talent behind the wheel and in the garage, or as a means to innovate and develop new technologies to be used outside of racing, with racing being the testbed for them (The Commonwealth Group in the ASMF, or FEISAR in the Wipeout Franchise). But then you look inside it's these massive teams with sponsor packages that read like the contingency panels for NASCARs and driver programs that keep going on as if someone was writing out all the zeros in a googolplex and their sole purpose is to just win races and championships, and not much else.

I know some of you lot want to win these virtual races that you don't even drive in, that's fine; it's perfectly natural to want to be good at something and be successful at it. But there comes a time when the investment involved doesn't match the medium that is being invested in or the potential yield at the end of the day, and that's what I'm seeing with the emergence of the Super-teams and the apparent privileges that come with them, like apparently having control over all of the goings on for a Manufacture. It's fine if you control the factory team in a series where that ties into the actual mechanics of the game, like controlling engine sales, but not when the procurement of vehicles and such are more or less open to everybody regardless of who they are.

*Am I a hypocrite, oh probably. In case you hadn't noticed, I call myself an ass twice on my Twitter profile. And in case you didn't notice, I basically hit the brakes on my goings on in the ASMF a year ago because I wasn't happy with the direction this subforum was going and asking myself questions as to Why everything has changed in the directions that they are going. If I go back in time and tell the me from a year ago about whats going on now, he's probably going to start chuckling because of how right he is. This is a game guys! This is suppose to be fun! (and not the fun where the U is for Uranium........bomb) I shouldn't have to penn a absurdly long essay to give reasons on why I say or do certain things but it's apparently the only way I can get a point across. If I do certain things, it's because I have reasons and I have plans for the future that involve them, regardless if the yield is apparent or not. Plans require Time to follow through on, something not well understood in this modern society derived from instant gratification. This is still my series at the end of the day, and if you have questions about why I am doing something or don't understand my stance on something, don't leave me in the dark and blindside me with something as disrespectful as a request to get the bathplug out. The GT Super Series is changing its direction in 2018 in case it wasn't already aware, to something a bit more storyline driven and something I have more control over, and now I'm stuck here not being able to do anything because my series has been taken hostage and no one has tried to talk to me about what is or was going on or do anything that might be of assistance.

Once again:
