Round 7 Canada

Alright, since it has been three days or so since the last round. I will go ahead and post the next round’s results.

I just noticed that we have a pretty intense race in the front of the teams championship between Renault, Ferrari and McLaren, and outside of these three, a tight battle for the midfield spots in the championship is also brewing between a few teams. Only Carlin and Super Aguri haven’t scored points yet this season. So, what will this round bring?

25 Sebastien Buemi +3.132
26 EJ Viso +3.182

Guess I was mistaken, the field is kind of getting tighter, which is a good thing

Race Summary:

At the start, M Schumacher got by Alonso, and Klien damaged his front wing into turn 2. But by the end of the first lap, Alonso retook the lead heading into the final chicane. On lap 2, Alonso suffered a transmission issue while trying to put a gap over the rest of the pack, his race was done. Lap 38, Winkelhock suffered a Right-rear puncture at the entry of the hairpin. On the next lap, Heidfeld retired at the same spot with a left-rear puncture. Lap 60, Villeneuve spun off at turn 2 and damaged his front wing, he was 12th at that time. 2 laps left to go, De La Rosa crashed out while trying to overtake Chirstian Klien, who was 1 lap down. De La Rosa was 6th at that time. In the end, M Schumacher finally gets Ferrari back on the top step after more than a year of not doing so.

Juan Pablo Montoya to try ALMS during the British GP weekend

Since Juan Pablo Montoya will not race the British GP, because of the signing of tester Karun Chadhok to race the British GP. JPM has decided to try his hand at ALMS for one weekend to keep himself in shape and not be lazy. Regarding the plan, JPM said, “I just don’t want to be out of racing for too long of a time, I need to stay active whichever way I can.”

Jarno Trulli to return to his McLaren seat?

After two below-average showings by Markus Winkelhock, Ron Dennis is considering the possibility of putting Jarno Trulli back in the car because they are locked in a tight battle in the team’s championship. As of now, they are in 3rd just 9 points back of the new leaders Ferrari, who lead Renault by just a single point.

Round 8 USA

Okay, so Ferrari has retook the lead of the team’s championship by a single point from Renault by winning in Canada and the other car taking 4th. Meanwhile, Alonso, despite not finishing due to mechanical issues in Canada, still has the lead of the driver’s championship. Next stop, is the road course at the brickyard, which happens to be in the last year of its current contract with FOM. The American fans don’t want to see this race disappear again. So, a good, exciting race will be important to convince Bernie to renew it.

Paddock news:

Bernie announces that he has no intention of renewing the contract of the USA GP at Indy.

In the aftermath of the race, Bernie made a pretty quick decision not to renew the USA GP contract at Indy. Going forward, Bernie stated that “I feel that the best thing for the USA is to have a permanent Tilke built circuit constructed somewhere in the country. Where exactly we still have no idea.”

Just as a remainder, after the next race at Silverstone, is the second in-season test. So, if you want to post upgrades, now is a pretty good time to do so.

Toyota has no interest in pursuing an upgrade for now, but we do request a full investigation into Sebastien Buemi's reckless behaviour and hope for the FIA to draw the obvious conclusions.

Investigation results of Sebastien Buemi and Ralf Schumacher collison at USA GP

Toyota has requested an investigation against Sebastien Buemi’s collison with Ralf Schumacher at the last race at Indy. Their request has been accepted by the FIA.

On Lap 27 of the USA GP, Sebastien Buemi spun off course at Turn 8. Before Buemi was trying to recover, he failed to check for oncoming traffic from both directions according to the onboard shots that the FIA got from the world TV feed. When Buemi tried a quick spin around so that his car was pointed in the correct direction, the rear-left of his car, collected Ralf Schumacher’s front end as Ralf was exiting turn 8. Ralf Schumacher suffered front wing damage and had to make a pit stop. It was later discovered after the race that the Toyota TF107 chassis had to be written off due to the impact that this collision took at the front right corner of the car, near the suspension pickups.

Since Buemi failed to check both directions before attempting to rejoin the track. In addition, considering the severity of the collision and other factors such as his lack of pace compared to his teammate Christijan Albers, Buemi will receive a three-race ban effective right away and will also miss the upcoming in-season test at Silverstone.

Finally, the FIA wants to enforce the regulation that every driver and pit crew member out there that safety violations of any type will not be tolerated.

Toyota is very pleased to hear of this result, and, since no bad will against Carlin as a team was intended, will offer their test driver (Mike Conway) to the team to take Buemi's place for free.

And by the way I can’t believe that we are about to get done with the first half of the season after this round is over!

Anyways, Karun Chandhok will make his F1 debut for Ferrari as part of the Pay driver agreement signed before the season started. And Mike Conway will also make his F1 debut in the Carlin-BMW on loan from Toyota while Buemi serves his ban.

DAMS and Force India looking to enter the 2008 grid

DAMS, who unsuccessfully failed to get on the grid in 1995, are hoping that 2008 is the year that they finally appear on the f1 grid. Their chassis will be built in-house and Jean Alesi has been named day-to-day manager. In addition, Force India, who is run by Indian Businessman Vijay Mallaya, is already convinced Lola to build their chassis for 2008. However, there are massive roadblocks to get on the grid for either team. The most notable one, is that there can only be 13 teams on the current grid, and with none of the current teams officially putting up the for sale sign, the chances of either one getting in for 2008, is very slim unless Carlin and/or Super Aguri encounter deeper financial difficulties.

Michael Schumacher: "I am relieved that I am finally able to steal a couple race wins from Alonso and Renault"

After the race, Michael Schumacher addressed the BBC that being able to defend the team's title for Ferrari will be harder than ever, but he's glad that they are still have a slim chance of doing so, as long as "we don't have any DNF's from this point on, the chances should be better."

As a remainder, the final in-season test is coming up after the next race at Spa, so if you have any last minute upgrades that you want to do, now it’s a good time to post them!

Toro Rosso are pleased that Hamilton was just a few seconds shy from the established top 3. To make sure he is not let down, we will take a large reliability please.

Race upgrade for Prodrive.

And Scott Speed will be replaced by Andre Lotterer if allowed for the Belgian Grand Prix. How much money could Andre bring?

Andre can bring $1.1 million for the race at Spa. It would be for an one-off appearance, of course.

ROTR: McLaren, for failing to capitalizing on a possible double-points finish

And by the way, it’s time for you guys to post your Young driver’s test plans, which will take place at Barcelona. Just in case, you forgot the deal with this, here’s some ground rules while thinking of your plans

1 Every team must participate in this test
2 No upgrades can be performed during this test
3 Each team has to select TWO real-life drivers that meet the following criteria
a. Must be at least 18 years old, but no older than 25 years old as of 1/1/2008.
b. Has no F1 race experience in this alternate universe, prior F1 testing experience is acceptable.
c. Driver must be participating in a reasonable series.
4 Each driver’s amount that they can bring to the teams will be determined by RNG set to 1-20. Of Course, you can post more than 2 drivers in your plans, in that instance, the two drivers with the highest amount determined by the RNG would be selected.
5 Finally, this is will be a one-day test.

So, I will give you guys 5 days or so to post your plans for this test.
Now posted to PMMF . . . F1 management 2011!

After yet another long intermission . . . I finally posted round 8. What will happen in the second half? Stay Tuned
