Krautmeir to drive for Hydook in F5000 for 2017
Hydook Racing has confirmed that Jeroen Krautmeir will make his Formula 5000 debut alongside Milica Bosevic at the team next year.
Following weeks of speculation about whether or not Hydook will enter the second car, the team made its call over the last few days on the back of an offer made by Jeroen Krautmeir to drive for the Croatian outfit in 2017.
Krautmeir is yet to comment on the recent events.

Relatively unknown Argentinian driver Guadalupe Alvarez Reina has taken the win with a flawless drive in the first round of the F5000 series. Starting from third, Reina quickly passed Roel Lamberigts for second to slot in behind polesitter Rafael Martins. Martins held the lead for the first few laps, before spinning on a kerb that claimed its fair share of victims over the half hour race. Matt Grove was one driver who will be thinking what could've been after losing a rear wing early on, as he managed to pass Reina and pull away after being lapped.
At the lower end of the top 10, there was action all round as drivers battled for valuable points. Sam Baromono and Alexey Pchelintsev had a spot of synchronised spinning, which resulted in the Kazakh driver losing his rear wing as the lapped Milica Bosevic plowed into his car. Dean O'Lauchlan was on a charge after a poor qualifying, and was on the verge of breaking into the top 10 when a desperate passing move on Mark Boutsanis resulted in a trip to pit lane for a new front wing as well as the Reject of the Race award.
Alvarez Reina held a massive lead until he caught the train at the back of the field. He almost lost it all when Wim-Bert Horrie made a complete dogs breakfast of his braking point at turn 2 on the final lap, divebombing up the inside of the race leader. Thomas Wren had a very consistent run to take second place and almost had a shot at first place in the lapped traffic. Wiremu Tamati upheld the reputation of the factory Ford team with a solid third place.
The Privateers Cup was a non-event, with only Ant Leketus turning up for this first round. Next round should see at least two additional entries, with Dofasco and Kiwi Racing confirmed to enter.

Polish driver Kamil Pijanowski has taken a hugely unexpected race win on Dofasco's return to racing, in a highly chaotic round of the F5000 series at Symmons Plains. Starting the race from 7th, he survived all the chaos all around the field to take the win. Qualifying saw Wiremu Tamati take pole position from Emilio Boni, with Sandra Yoo, Tetsuya Takagi and Mac Farrugia not making the cut due to the grid limit. Tamati led the race early on, until driver error at the hairpin saw him in for a new front wing. Thomas Wren fell down the order after contact with Mark Boutsanis meant he needed a trip down the pit lane.
Pole sitter from last time out, Rafael Martins led the race for a few laps, before another rookie mistake saw him drop down the order with a spin. Meanwhile, Dylan Senerson had a huge crash at the hairpin, writing off the American Racing Conglomerate car. The HSV Dealer Team garage will be a very hostile place after John Cunningham followed Ryan Zimmer into the fence at the hairpin, earning them the Reject of the Race award. Mark Boutsanis gave a few of the leaders a scare when he spun in front of the pack, almost taking Alexey Pchelintsev out of the race. Erebus' race went from bad to worse when Hans Einhrin carelessly plowed into Nico Muller, who in turn was pushed into John Bean. Jeremy-Etienne Voeckler will not be too pleased with that incident. Guadalupe Alvarez Reina and Emilio Boni had a close battle for much of the race, which allowed Pijanowski to catch up and pass.
Matt Grove lead for most of the race, however got caught out by the lapped traffic. Matt Fadden outbraked himself at the hairpin after being lapped and removed the Pirtek driver's rear wing with only a few laps to go. Grove tried to finish with no rear wing but was forced into the pit lane. This allowed Pijanowski to take the lead, which he held until the end to take a win that no-one could have ever expected. Rafael Martins dropped out of the points late in the race, from contact with Florence Briggs. Emilio Boni held on for second place and Dean O'Lauchlan redeemed himself with the third step of the podium. Alvarez Reina took 4th place from Phil McCracken.
Pijanowski also took out the Privateers Cup for the round, ahead of Kiwi Racing's Simon Bourne and Ant Leketus.
