KL-racer's F1 Management:2008 ROTY PODIUM UP!

Post by KL-racer »

KL-racer’s F1 Management 2008

What’s going on, guys? If the last two rounds of 2007, are any indication of this season, then it should be as good as 2006 if not better. However, since the last round of 2007 at Interlagos, there has been a name change at Toro Rosso, because Red Bull was embarrassed by being beaten by their own junior team. So, Red Bull decided to remove their logos from the Toro Rosso cars. In a response to this news, Toro Rosso’s entry went up for sale, and was bought by Vijay Mallya and their name was changed to Force India. Speaking of name changes, Midland will now be called MSR, now using an updated spec of the Spyker V8 engine.

Meanwhile, Jarno Trulli, the 2007 ROTY is looking for another chance with a different team. Can Alonso make it four-in-a-row? How about Ferrari and Michael Schumacher, can they retake either title this season? In addition, can Carlin finally catch a break for once and score a point this season?

In other news, I added the FIA prize money from 2007 to your leftover budgets. All entries have been confirmed, and the RNG'S have been all finished. So, here's the entry list as of now

Re: KL-racer's F1 Management: 2008 PM YOUR BIDS!

Post by KL-racer »

Bidding Information

Okay, I got confirmation from all 13 teams. So, we can start the next step, the bids!

Step 1: Chassis bids

Yes, I have decided to raise the cost of the chassis slightly for this year. Select one of the following tiers

Cost/RNG Parameters

Tier 1 $30 million/4000-5000
Tier 2 $26 million/4000-6000
Tier 3 $22 million/4000-7000
Tier 4 $18 million/4000-8000
Tier 5 $14 million/4000-9000
Tier 6 $10 million/4000-10000

Step 2: Engine bids

Yes, I have also decided to modify the cost of the engines accordingly, overall, unlike the chassis, the engine cost went down a little bit due to the great recession. All engine makers, except Spyker and Cosworth can only supply two teams at a time. You could bid for up to three engines.

Renault $17.5 million
Ferrari $15.5 million
Mercedes $13.5 million
Spyker $12.5 million Prefers MSR
BMW $11.5 million
Toyota $10 million
Honda $8.5 million
Cosworth $7 million

Step 3: Driver Bids
You must bid for two race drivers AND 1 test/reserve driver. Just because, you never know if one of your race drivers would get injured! You can bid for up to 3 drivers for each seat

Fernando Alonso $20 million Wants #1 status
Michael Schumacher $16 million Wants #1 status
Kimi Raikkonen $13.5 million Wants #1 status
Lewis Hamilton $10 million
Sebastian Vettel $7.5 millon
Pedro De La Rosa $5.5 million
Nick Heidfeld $4.5 million
Jarno Trulli $3.5 million Does NOT want McLaren
Ralf Schumacher $3 million
Nico Rosberg $2.5 million
Giancarlo Fisichella $2 million
Christian Klien $1.75 million
Robert Kubica $1.5 million
Mark Webber $1.25 million
Rubens Barrichello $1.25 million Wants a race seat, or else he would move to a different racing series
Heikki Kovalainen $1 million
Jenson Button $1 million
Sebastien Bourdais $1 million Attempting to come back to F1, after not getting a race seat in 2007
Timo Glock $0.75 million
David Coulthard $0.75 million will be retiring at the end of this season, hence the discount
Takuma Sato $0.6 million
Felipe Massa $0.6 million Coming back from Injury, hence the discount
Nelson Piquet Jr. $0.5 million
Kaz Nakajima $0.5 million
Lucas Di Grassi $0.5 million
Nicolas Lapierre $0.45 million
Luca Filippi $0.4 million
Sebastien Buemi $0.35 million
Adam Carroll $0.35 million
Bruno Senna $0.3 million
Mike Conway $0.3 million
Javier Villa $0.25 million
Jose Maria Lopez $0.25 million
Anthony Davidson $0.25 million
JR Hildebrand $0.2 million
Andy Soucek $0.2 million
Hiroki Yoshimoto $0.2 million
Kazuya Oshima Discount off Toyota Engines
Narain Karthikeyan PD $4.5 million
Karun Chadhok PD 4 million
Sakon Yamamoto PD 3.5 million
Giedo Van de Garde PD $3 million
Vitaly Petrov PD $2.5 million
Adrian Sutil PD $2 million

And before I forget, you must send all of your bids via PM! Good luck!

I did check my PM on here and my email account and I never received a message for it, as far as I am concerned. Would you mind posting your bids on here because that's the only team that I am missing, anyway.

And if I did deleted it in the first place, It would have been in the spam folder on accident because I emptied it once this week.

Re: KL-racer's F1 Management: 2008 ENGINE BIDS!

Post by KL-racer »

Engine Bids:

So, I finally got the last bid from Phoneix! So, I can now do the RNG’S! Starting with the engines!

Renault Part 1

Well, with Renault supplying their own works team already that means only one other team among McLaren, Williams, MSR and Force India will use them. Among these four teams, Force India and Williams had Renault as their first choice. But Force India did bid for slightly more money than Williams. However, McLaren and MSR had it as their second choice, so their chances are less likely.

Force India 1-40, Williams 41-70, McLaren 71-90, MSR 91-100

The number is . . . 96, so MSR got a break on the RNG and MIGHT use the Renault customer engine. Of course, it pisses off Spyker Cars so much that they decided to wait for Spyker’s decision to come in before making it official

Ferrari

Other than Ferrari itself, the only other team that bidded for Ferrari engines is . . . McLaren, but of course the Tifosi is so hateful towards McLaren, which are their arch rivals for the longest time, their bid wasn’t considered.

Mercedes Part 1

Okay, two teams will get Mercedes motors, among the teams that bidded for them are Force India, McLaren, Prodrive and Williams.

McLaren 1-35, Force India 36-70, Prodrive 71-85, Williams 86-100

The 1st number is . . . 56, so Force India will use Mercedes motors.

Mercedes Part 2

McLaren 1-50, Prodrive 51-75, Williams 76-100

The 2nd number is . . . 39, so McLaren will keep using the Mercedes engine.

Spyker

Supply MSR 1-80, Supply Carlin 81-100

The number is 99, the Spyker Cars board has decided to supply Carlin instead of midland, which means the earlier standing of Midland getting Renault engines stands, but with one problem, Carlin can’t afford the Spyker engines right now, so that above RNG becomes moot point, and MSR will officially use Spyker motors NOT Renault motors.

Renault Pt 2

After McLaren renewed their Mercedes Contract, MSR using Spyker engines after a long fight, and Force India receiving Mercedes engines. The only team leftover that bidded for Renault engines is Williams, so they will use Renault’s.

BMW

Sauber will continue using BMW engines. The only other team leftover that bidded for BMW motors were Carlin. They can continue using them, if they can successfully sign a pay-driver to cover the bills.

Toyota

No other team besides Toyota bidded for Toyota engines. Next up

Honda

Red Bull and Super Aguri bidded for Honda Engines. It’s a 50-50 chance

Super Aguri 1-50, Red Bull 51-100

The number is . . . 75, Red Bull will now use Honda engines, which means Super Aguri will have to use Cosworth V8’s for 2008
.
The only team without an Engine deal, after all of this mess is . . . Prodrive, so they can either buy Ferrari’s or Toyota’s at list price. I am assuming, Miguel98 you want Ferrari motors, if I am not mistaken?

The next post will be . . . the driver bids

WOW! That was a mouthful to type it out, indeed! And by the way, Miguel98, your request to use Ferrari Engines have been approved. The entry list in the first post will be of course updated with all of the latest stuff. And one final thing, when I PM each of you, your team stats for 2008. I will caution you on this one detail, the driver’s stats have been adjusted accordingly. Some drivers actually benefitted from this adjustment, while others actually have a negative impact from it and some drivers didn’t benefit at all.The Pre-season test will hopefully happen sometime on Sunday afternoon, but if that doesn’t happen until then, expect it to be done on the following weekend.

Re: KL-racer's F1 Management: 2008 PRE-SEASON TESTING RESULT

Post by KL-racer »

Pre-season testing from Jerez:

Alright, I am back! Due to the fact that I have to use a MSN account now, and we all lost almost a month due to the forum being moved. Because of these two reasons, upgrades can’t be done until after the round at Catalunya. Remember, I will be on here less often, due to work commitments, but at the worst case, expect me to be on during the weekends. So, without any further delay here’s the times from pre-season testing at Jerez!

Testing Results:

1 Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) 1:23.018
2 Michael Schumacher (Ferrari) +0.096
3 Ralf Schumacher (Toyota) +0.175
4 Kimi Raikkonen (McLaren-Mercedes) +0.215
5 Robert Kubica (Williams-Renault) +0.295
6 Pedro De La Rosa (Renault) +0.304
7 Fernando Alonso (Renault) +0.342
8 Nick Heidfeld (Sauber-BMW) +0.385
9 Felipe Massa (Force India-Mercedes) +0.430
10 Timo Glock (Sauber-BMW) +0.439
11 Sebastian Vettel (Force India-Mercedes) +0.559
12 Jarno Trulli (Prodrive-Ferrari) +0.681
13 Heikki Kovalainen (Carlin-BMW) +0.818
14 Jenson Button (Red Bull-Honda) +1.013
15 Lucas Di Grassi (McLaren-Mercedes) +1.243
16 Christian Klien (Honda) +1.248
17 Sebastian Bourdais (MSR-Spyker) +1.292
18 Nico Rosberg (Red Bull-Honda) +1.324
19 Mark Webber (Honda) +1.373
20 David Coulthard (Toyota) +1.489
21 Giancarlo Fisichella (Williams-Renault) +1.577
22 Nicolas Lapierre (MSR-Spyker) +1.874
23 Takuma Sato (Prodrive-Ferrari) +2.807
24 Giedo Van der Garde (Carlin-BMW) +2.811
25 JR Hildebrand (Super Aguri-Cosworth) +2.858
26 Sakon Yamamoto (Super Aguri-Cosworth) +3.324

This is shaping out to be a lot more interesting than last season, for sure. Hamilton and M Schumacher lead the timesheets for Ferrari. A big surprise is Kubica in the new Renault-powered Williams cracking the top 5. Renault are going to have their hands full defending both titles, their cars came in 6th and 7th. Both Sauber-BMW’s in the top 10 is a promising sign. Trulli seems to be finding the new Ferrari-powered Prodrive more favorable than the McLaren of 2007. The biggest surprise is Heikki getting the Carlin in 13th. Maybe, they might sneak in the points finally. I was shocked that MSR was off the pace, especially given that the Spyker engine is a brand new unit, but considering that Bourdais didn’t race in F1 in 2007, and Lapierre is a F1 Rookie, they would have some struggles getting points at this pace. Less of a surprise, is Super Aguri, who occupy the last two slots on the time sheets. Overall, the top 20 cars are all within 1.5 seconds of each other, so that’s a great sign. But then again, testing is testing, so until you get the cars over a full race distance, it’s like guesswork. The season opener from Melbourne will be posted sometime later today, I hope.

Round 1 Melbourne

Yes, I was kind of surprised as well that MSR got so unlucky on the driver RNG’S. Normally, a team would have gotten at least one race seat filled during this process, but I guess that wasn’t the case. Anyways, back to more practical matters, as promised, here’s the first round recap.

Qualifying results

1 Michael Schumacher 1:25.005
2 Robert Kubica +0.052
3 Ralf Schumacher +0.091
4 Lewis Hamilton +0.364
5 Felipe Massa +0.376
6 Kimi Raikkonen +0.423
7 Fernando Alonso +0.432
8 Pedro De La Rosa +0.559
9 Jarno Trulli +0.751
10 Nick Heidfeld +0.781
11 Sebastian Vettel +0.842
12 Lucas Di Grassi +0.927
13 Timo Glock +0.979
14 Heikki Kovalainen +1.081
15 Nico Rosberg +1.114
16 David Coulthard +1.123
17 Christian Klien +1.171
18 Mark Webber +1.353
19 Giancarlo Fisichella +1.486
20 Sebastian Bourdais +1.543
21 Jenson Button +1.774
22 JR Hildebrand +2.614
23 Takuma Sato +2.809
24 Giedo Van der Garde +2.946
25 Nicolas Lapierre +3.082
26 Sakon Yamamoto +4.588

M. Schumacher got the first pole of the season, but Kubica and R. Schumacher were right on his tail. Massa starting in the top 5 was a surprise for Force India. At this rate, Alonso will have to earn every single point that he can get, he would start 7th alongside his new teammate De La Rosa. For some odd reason, Lapierre was off the pace in the MSR. Sato got beaten by Hildebrand, which was another embarassment.

Race recap

Our first DNF of the season, came from Fisichella on Lap 6. Massa had a water leak on Lap 10 from 3rd, his day was done. On Lap 12, Webber went off track and Rosberg retired due to a gearbox issue. On the next lap, Kubica had a loose right-rear tire from 3rd, and he almost made it back to pit lane, but sadly he had to retire the car. Lap 15, Heidfeld retired as well. On Lap 36, Hamilton retired while running in 3rd. On Lap 39, Coulthard retired. On the next lap, Kimi Retired from 4th due to a left-rear puncture. At the same time, De La Rosa retired due to an electrical issue also from 4th. With five laps left to go, Yamamoto retired. In the end, M. Schumacher drew first blood. R. Schumacher came in 2nd and Alonso managed a 3rd. Vettel got Force India a solid 4th, Trulli got a top 5 finish for Prodrive. Glock in his return to F1, managed to score 3 points. The two biggest surprises, however, are Carlin finally scoring their first ever points with a 7th by Heikki and Di Grassi scoring his first point for McLaren, which by the way he didn’t do in real life!

Race Results

1 Michael Schumacher 1:24:21.895
2 Ralf Schumacher +10.462
3 Fernando Alonso +33.846
4 Sebastian Vettel +57.745
5 Jarno Trulli +1:03.121

7 Heikki Kovalainen 1 lap
8 Lucas Di Grassi 1 lap
9 Christian Klien 1 lap
10 Sebastien Bourdais 1 lap
11 Jenson Button 1 lap
12 Mark Webber 1 lap
13 JR Hildebrand 2 laps
14 Takuma Sato 2 laps
15 Nicolas Lapierre 2 laps
16 Giedo Van der garde 2 laps
DNF Sakon Yamamoto oil leak
DNF Pedro De La Rosa electrical
DNF Kimi Raikkonen Puncture
DNF David Coulthard Transmission
DNF Lewis Hamilton Suspension
DNF Nick Heidfeld Transmission
DNF Robert Kubica Loose Wheel
DNF Nico Rosberg Transmission

ROTR: Williams-Renault for a Double-DNF, especially after Kubica kept up with the front runners before the wheel goes flying away! Honorable mention goes to Sato for finishing behind Hildebrand’s Super Aguri.

ROTR: Yamamoto, for being a moving chicane and closing the door on Coulthard at the final turn.

Paddock News:

FIA gives Sakon Yamamoto a one-race suspension for causing the Collision with Coulthard along with other factors.

The FIA after the race has decided to give Yamamoto a one-race suspension for avoidable contact with Coulthard on Lap 40 at the final turn. In addition, they stated that “during the first two races, he wasn’t really moving over right away when the faster cars are coming. Also, we took into consideration his qualifying times during the first two races as well. Hence, that’s the reason why we feel that a one-race suspension was the right course of action to take.”

Meanwhile, Toyota’s management wasn’t able to comment about this news yet, but they will be open to state their position at a date TBD. As for Super Aguri, reports are indicating that Vitaly Petrov, would probably get the #2 seat for the next race, but in terms of him getting more races this season, Aguri Suzuki denied to comment on the matter.

The Next round will be posted within the next couple days because of spring vacation at my workplace! Yay for me!

Well then. That happened.

Vitaly Petrov shall indeed replace Yamamoto for the next Grand Prix, and we also might keep him racing for longer, depending on how well he goes in the next GP :P

Round 3 China

Okay, so there has been a couple of changes. Petrov will finally make his F1 debut and Lotterer is back in the Prodrive, for a second stint with the team. Hopefully this race doesn’t turn into a snooze-fest like the first GP of 2015 did in real life. Anyways, here’s the recap from China

Qualifying results

1 Fernando Alonso 1:34.287
2 Lewis Hamilton +0.076
3 Pedro De La Rosa +0.130
4 Michael Schumacher +0.179

8 Timo Glock +0.733
9 Nick Heidfeld +0.818

23 Nicolas Lapierre +2.563
24 Giedo Van der Garde +2.703
25 Vitaly Petrov +2.938
26 JR Hildebrand +3.408

Obviously, the relatively long back straight at this track means that engine power would be a key factor. Likewise, this circuit is a tricky one to set up for. Alonso took pole position barely from the Ferrari of Hamilton. A big disappointment for Kimi, he can only muster 11th. A pleasant surprise from Bourdais, he will start 12th.

Race summary

On Lap 2, Hamilton got clipped by Kubica at the end of the back straight, he dropped all the way down to the back of the pack. On the next lap, Vettel went wide at the same spot and collected Fisichella, damaging the Italian’s front wing in the process. On Lap 5, a scary moment happened when Klien’s front wing flew off down the back straight, causing him to almost going to the wall at the end of the track, but he saved it, and made it back to the pits successfully. When this was going on, Trulli and glock collided at the end of the front straight, taking glock’s front wing off and Trulli understandably pissed off. Both were able to continue on. Lap 8, Webber’s right-rear wheel flew off down the back straight, forcing him to retire the car. On lap 34, Petrov suffered a loose right-rear wheel down the front straight and had to retire. Lap 38, Rosberg’ engine let go. While this was going on, Vettel retired from the top 5 with a puncture. With 10 laps left, Van der garde retired due to a gearbox problem and a few laps later Heikki’s engine failed. In the end, Alonso wins by a small margin over M. Schumacher and De la Rosa rounds off the podium.
