Infinite Improbability Drive of the Race - 2015 China

Post by Shizuka »

based on the assumption that, at any moment in time, there is a non-zero probability that even the slowest, most inexperienced and least reliable of underdogs might win the race. That under every rock, there might be a gold nugget. This is the award for that first podium that we all celebrate, for the overtake no-one was expecting, for Ericsson's first win. This is the award, in short, for the driver or team that makes you go "Woah! Where did THAT come from?!".

Just remember: this is a feel-good award, that will focus on nothing but track action.
Usual rules: everyone gets two votes. First vote is worth 10 points, the second 6.

Post your results until April 17.

1. Lotus - Grosjean gets points and if Maldonado didn't have that spin, he would have been in the points
2. Max Verstappen - Was going well till the engine decided to be like no.

I can't think of anyone bar Max Verstappen or Romain Grosjean here. Romain did a decent job and Max had some okay (and some lucky) overtakes. Still, they didn't really do anything special, that's at least what I feel.

1. Max Verstappen
2. Romain Grosjean

1. McLaren - They BOTH finished!
2. Max Verstappen - Shame for him, had a solid drive...

This is going to be difficult :?

1. Max Verstappen - really decent race, nice fights, such a shame about the failure ending his race.
2. I really don't have a clue. I may as well nominate Jos Verstappen for giving the Dutch a driver to cheer for again. I don't want to be too chauvinistic, but I didn't see any IIDOTR candidates other than Max.

1. Marcus Ericsson: Solid weekend with some exciting driving.
2. McLaren: Finished with both cars, relatively close to points.

To be honest, nothing improbable happened. I actually thought of nominating Maldonado for a while. :D

1. Verstappen - what a painful ending, though.
2. Ericsson - made Ricciardo look a bit ordinary, although that admittedly owes a lot to the RB11 being so terrible. I am also big enough to admit that I expected Ericsson to suck as badly as in Malaysia, too.

1. Max Verstappen
2. Sauber; points from Ericsson and Nasr now elevate them to 4th in the WCC.

1) Verstappen - it wasn't his fault the engine went boom.

2) Mclaren - seem to be developing at a great rate of knots. Should be aiming to get one car in second qualifying next time out.

1. Verstappen- was unlucky again but produced some great overtakes
2. Grosjean- didn't notice him really but scored his and the team's best result since 2013

Honorable mentions go to no one really, even the very short BBC highlights were a boring watch, could have at least kept the comedy of the race marshalls in. :(

I will make an honorable mention to the TV Director. I thought he picked up most of the action, not hesitating to go down to cover the last places already in the early laps.
