2018 International Procar Championship (Kyalami Complete!)

A new season, a new name for what was the AutoReject Super Touring series. Now running under FIA jurisdiction, there are a few rule changes.

IPC consists of two separate sub-series, much like what ARST employed. The A-Class Championship team field has been set, though entries for the B-Class Cup are still open.

RULES
Section 1: Entry regulations
1.1: A-Class
1.1.1: Each team in A-Class must field two cars, which they must construct themselves.
1.1.2: A team entered for the A-Class Championship is obligated to race in all Championship races, barring exceptional circumstances.
1.2: B-Class
1.2.1: A team competing in B-Class may field up to two cars.
1.2.2: Teams competing in B-Class should use customer versions of a car constructed by an A-Class team, though may be allowed to construct their own if given special dispensation. A team given special dispensation to construct their own car will only be permitted to run a part-time schedule, unless in exceptional circumstances.
1.2.3: A team may choose to participate full-time or part-time in the B-Class Cup. A team that chooses to compete full-time is obligated to race in all Cup races. A team that competes part-time is limited to at most half the schedule, rounded down.
1.2.4: A manufacturer team is not permitted to supply more than 4 full-time cars and 4 part-time cars.
1.3: Drivers
1.3.1: Drivers competing in IPC must be fictional.
1.3.2: Drivers competing in IPC must either be 18 or older, or have competing in a canon event prior to entering IPC.

Section 2: Technical regulations
2.1: Cars
2.1.1: All information pertaining to car development and stats will be made public.
2.1.2: Cars must conform to one of 4 pre-approved Aero templates.
2.1.3: Each OEM is permitted only one model within IPC competition.
2.1.4: There are 4 different stats for each car: Aero, Engine, Chassis, and Consistency.
2.1.5: The maximum any one stat can be is 100.
2.1.6: The stats for Aero, Engine, and Chassis are randomly determined for new cars to be in a range from 45-55.
2.1.7: Consistency is randomly determined from 15-25.
2.1.8: Consistency will, when applied to the car stats, provide a range: for example, a base stat of 50 with a Consistency of 20 will get a range of 40-60. An odd Consistency will have the leftover range applied to the minimum stats, for example, a base stat of 50 with a Consistency of 29 will get a range of 35-64.
2.1.9: Once a car is used at the start of the season, it cannot be replaced by a new version until the start of the next season.
2.2: Development Focus & Upgrades
2.2.1: Upgrades to Aero, Engine, or Chassis will provide a bonus to the base stat.
2.2.2: Upgrades to Consistency will provide a bonus to the minimum stat.
2.2.3: A manufacturer building a new car can choose to have up to 2 development focuses, on any one of the 4 stats. Focusing on one area gives a random boost of 5-10, while two areas will yield a random boost of 1-7.
2.2.3: Manufacturer can choose from one of 3 upgrade paths for the season: Small, Medium, or Large.
2.2.4: The small upgrade path allows for 3 small upgrades (providing a random boost of 1-7) at 25%, 50%, and 75% (rounded up) of the season in terms of race meetings. The medium upgrade path allows for 2 medium upgrades (providing a random boost of 2-10) at 33% and 66% (rounded up) of the season in terms of race meetings. The large upgrade path allows for 1 large upgrade (providing a random boost of 3-20) at 50% (rounded up) of the season in terms of race meetings.
2.2.5: Manufacturers must choose their upgrade path between pre-season testing and the first race meeting of the season.
2.3: Chassis degradation
2.3.1: A manufacturer can choose to use a car from a previous season in a following season.
2.3.2: If a manufacturer elects to build a new car, any previous cars built are considered scrapped and cannot be used again.
2.3.3: Should a manufacturer re-use a car for an additional season, it will receive a penalty of 10 to each stat.
2.3.4: Using a car for an additional season will entitle a team to the equivalent of a medium upgrade in the off-season.

Section 3: Race weekend procedure
3.1: General weekend layout
3.1.1: The weekend will consist of one of two layouts.
3.1.2: The 1-race format will feature an A-Class Championship race run to 200 km plus 1 lap.
3.1.3: The 2-race format will feature 2 A-Class Championship races. The first or 'Feature' race will be run to 150 km plus 1 lap. The second or 'Sprint' race will be run to 75 km plus 1 lap. The Sprint race will feature a reverse grid, reversing the results of the Feature race, minus any car not running at the finish.
3.1.4: Each race weekend will feature 1 B-Class Cup race run to 100 km plus 1 lap.
3.1.5: Each race will feature the top finishing B-Class Cup drivers promoted to compete in the A-Class Championship race. This will vary depending on the amount of cars a track can support, but will always be at least 4.
3.1.6: There will be 2 practice sessions for each A-Class Championship race, and 1 practice session for each B-Class Cup race.
3.2: Qualifying procedure
3.2.1: A-Class Championship qualifying will feature each car going out by themselves for 1 lap.
3.2.2: B-Class Cup qualifying is determined by random draw.
3.3: Race procedure
3.3.1: During the race, any driver that is determined to have driven in an unsportsmanlike manner will be under investigation by the race stewards.
3.3.2: In-race penalties will be assessed in the form of either a post-race time penalty, or a grid penalty at the next race weekend.
3.3.3: In severe cases, the stewards may decide to outright disqualify a driver from the race results.
3.3.4: The stewards reserve the right to revoke the driving license of any competitor.
3.3.5: Points in non-sprint races will be awarded to the first 20 competitors in the race in the following order: 50-45-40-37-34-31-28-25-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2-1.
Points in sprint races will be awarded to the first 15 competitors in the race in the following order: 35-30-27-24-21-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2-1
3.3.6: 5 points will be awarded to each of the following 3 feats: Pole position, Fastest lap, and Most positions gained.

If you're looking for drivers, there are two good places to look. One is any free agents not confirmed from last season, of which they have been given a rated out of ten here. Another good place to look would be the feeder series to IPC, the 2017 results of which can be found here.

As a reminder, Julian Clark still has to serve 2 races of his ban this season.

The entry list has been updated with completed entries. Please note that since Mazda now supply 4 full-time cars, only part-time applications with their car will be accepted.

IPC will allow Rick Miller Racing to compete part-time with their Ford Fusion.

OK, the All Stars post. I will keep coming back to this and editing it as I get new information about schedules, newly accepted offers, etc. This is what I have so far, they can be considered confirmed and ready to go if they are in this list and don't have a (tbc) tag next to them. If there is a TBA, and you have a drive of a high calibre interested in making a one-off in the series with the reigning champions, give me a message.

Drivers are of the same nationality as the host nation of the race they are assigned to, unless specified with a three character country code after their name.

Far East Associates is running 3 too many races for a part-time entry.

Infiniti is now full for full-time cars. No further applications to run their cars full-time in B-Class will be accepted.

We also still have room for more B-Class entries - I'm capping the full-time entry list at 32 cars, and we currently have 24 prospective cars, so that's at least 4 more teams that can enter.

Far East Associates is running 3 too many races for a part-time entry.

This is allowed, provided of course you complete the entry form for this entry.

The following A-Class teams still need to confirm some things for 2018.

Triumph Racing: Building a new car or not
Mugen Blokkmonsta Motorsport: Building a new car or not
HSBC Team Macmillan: Car numbers
FAT Turbo Racing: Car numbers, 2nd driver, building a new car or not
Rothmans Pan Am Aeroracing Engineering: Car numbers, building a new car or not
Grundig Euromotor International: Car numbers, building a new car or not
Kiwi Racing: Car numbers, building a new car or not

If you're looking for a driver and don't mind taking a gamble every race, then Ryan Carlton may be your man. You have no idea until the race starts whether he'll be fighting the best drivers, or beaten by even the slowest, or anywhere in between.

He also participated in the Privateer's Cup last season, scoring 64 points in 7 races to finish 25th in that division, driving a Triumph 2000.

Everything's great.
I'm not surprised about anything.
